I cleaned up my the Pepsi machine that once lived in my Grandpa's service garage. It was originally designed for glass soda pop bottles. I have fond memories of getting / asking for a pop from the machine when I was younger. My older sister and I would race chugging our pops.....A simple time and a day when things were built to last. Not sure how I didn't vomit more!? Who chugs cola???
Pepsi....The red, the white and blue.....A true American color and tradition.

Great video and what an awesome job you did in restoring Grandpas old Pop Machine. Really interesting in what it took to restore it. Last time I saw it it looked impossible to fix. I laugh because I think Grandpa would love buying a Pepsi from your machine. He would fill your machine with lots of quarters. Can't wait to see you toast another one to Grandpa on January 23rd. Great Job Andy..proud of you..

Thanks! I am really happy with the results. I was young, but I too remember gathering change up to buy a soda pop out of this old machine. It was in my Grandpa's service garage. Thanks for watching 👍😁

Great machine! This reminds me of my video back in 2009 when I put my Pepsi Machine on free vend. Mine was from the 80's because it had push buttons. One day it had a short so I sold it locally for just 20 bucks. I also had a coke machine I never filmed that was like yours. Paid 90, restored it, and sold it on ebay for 400.

Vintage / old stuff is just plain cool! 😎. I love working on and repairing old stuff people forgot about or gave up on. This old soda pop machine was in my grandfather's garage 'forever' (guessing it arrived in the late 70's to mid 80's). Now it will remain as an icon in my shop until it gets passed on. Keep on fixing old stuff and thanks for watching! 👍😁🎄

I see you got Grandpa Carey's old pop machine. Great job, cousin. Knowing him surprised, it wasn't a hidden moonshine still. I'm going to share a link on my Facebook. Hopefully, it will help grow your channel.

That's exciting! I have not sourced parts for this machine. Hopefully with a fresh charge mine will be good to go. I know my solenoid for the door latch does not work properly. My mechanism is missing some pieces. They might have to be homemade. Thanks for watching 👍😁

Depends on what you are going for.....I like the nostalgia knowing it was the same finish that weathered my grandfather's garage over all those years. I only have it for old memories of sharing bottles of soda pop with him and my sister out in the garage! Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Good job! What products did you use for the cleaning?
@FlatThunder

Thanks! Simple Green was the main cleaning product used. I used Megiuars polish and carnauba wax. They are my go to solution for all waxing. The heavy compound was a 3M marine grade color restorer. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Looks great! I have one about this age it worked great for a couple years and it stopped getting cold. Any ideas on how I can check the compressor or to refill with freon?
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 2 жыл бұрын
The lines underneath should have ports to recharge. The typical way to check is to inject dye to inspect for leaks. I need to recharge / inspect my unit too. Pay attention to the freon type. Mine still uses R12. Thanks for watching! 👍😁

Good video! I have one similar. Was curious if you know to change the price on these old ones? Mine is set at .50cents.
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! To be honest I am not sure what my machine is set at. I have two changers, but only one is functional. The functional one is pretty crusty and from what I can tell it's set to less than 50 cents. I was tripping the limit switches manually in the video to get it to trigger the door latch. My machine with the older changer was not accepting quarters at the time of the video. Thanks for watching! 👍😁
@TommyJoeDietz
@TommyJoeDietz 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, so when you say tripping the limit switches, do you mean you are able to pull out bottles freely without the use of dropping change? Mine works fine with just dropping .50cents, and hate to mess it up, but just curious if there is a way to bypass and pull out unlimited bottles or even just change it to a different price. Yours is the closest one on KZfaq comparable to mine I've seen. Thank you for reading and any help or advise is appreciated!
@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 2 жыл бұрын
@@TommyJoeDietz the door latch has a solenoid at the top on the inside. Mine was missing a piece and or was damaged previously. The changer signals the solenoid to pull the linkage back releasing the door. If you physically block the linkage in the back position the door will always be unlocked. I used a beer cap folded in half on my machine. The linkage needs some work, but physically trapping it should not hurt it. Happy Saturday!

@FlatThunder
@FlatThunder 2 жыл бұрын
To be honest I never saw one before and had Google it. The one I found looked pretty similar except with a reversed hinged door. Try researching the machine by manufacturer name for more info. I bet the same company made many different branded machines. The one I'm looking at is made by the 'Ideal Dispenser Co, Columbus Ohio'. Thanks for watching and good luck with Canadian machine! 👍😁
