Great work, JD. A common rule of thumb when assessing whether a mainspring is set or can be reused is it should be flat (ie not coned), free of any nicks or traces of rust (or else there’s a high risk of it snapping), the coils should be quite evenly spaced and it should expand to a diameter at least three times larger than the inner diameter of the mainspring barrel.

Hi JD, in the beginning of this video, you talked about a tool that is used to correct the hunter case lid if it no longer catches on the watch case latch. I would be very interested in seeing a picture or video of this tool and where you got the tool from. I have a few hunter cases laying around with this problem. I know you do alot of tool videos but I don't recall see that tool before. Thanks and as always love your videos.
