Hey tuco, I almost cried when you left the 49th Parallel, Sagitarius and Merry-Go-Round 45's behind. As a lifetime 45 Collector, those are just amazing to see. BTW, Grand Award was Enoch Light's first label before Command. High quality stuff. Take care...

The advantage of having eclectic and varied tastes in music like you and I do, Tuco, is we inevitably find albums we like at antique shops or thrift stores because we enjoy a variety of different genres and styles of music that may not be of interest to a lot of people out there (Their loss. Haha!). Sometimes I'll see guys digging through records at thrift stores, but they clearly only collect heavy metal or are looking for records by a specific artist or group and therefore I manage to scoop up all sorts of cool records that are not on their radar. :)

That’s me as well. And with CDs as well. I’ve found some downright amazing artists and collections in other genres, often passed up by people looking for Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours. Their loss. Good to see Tuco is on that plane as well.

I watched a video last night where a guy dug through 20,000 albums in two trailers. In the video he passed on an album that averages $600. One of his viewers told him he should have grabbed it. So he drove back and spent an hour or so looking for it and finally found it. Still sealed. Your video reminded me of that story.

Ha! I've seen that! Back To The Media (or something like that) is the channel? I didn't follow my own advice here!...I always say how i see people flipping through vinyl and they flip right past a great record (that they didn't recognize) because it wasn't Led Zeppelin, etc!...but usually it's the records you DON'T recognize that are worth money! For some reason, i don't pay enough attention to 45s. I don't know enough about them. I find them overwhelming! But now, trust me, I will be paying more attention!!!

@@VinylHunter that is the channel. I don't know squat about 45's. I know 60's to present rock albums. That's about it. I might buy a $1 record out of my comfort zone but that is about it. Since I retired, I don't like to spend much cash. I didn't before retiring. Almost bought a PL-518 the other day for $175 but I already have 4 turntables. I don't need a fifth but that is the one I really want. 🙂Maybe I will go get it.

7:30 'Take Ten' by Paul Desmond is a great jazz album with 'Take Ten' being the best track and it is like a sequel to 'Take Five' which was also composed by Paul Desmond since he was a member of The Dave Brubeck Quintet and he played saxophone, of course. :)

Just a couple of tips from a dealer who used to travel to the States during the 80's Take all the 45's out of the box & then put them back after looking at them...That saves any without sleeves not getting as badly scratched when flipping this also means when you put them back they can go back tidy (the proprietor will appreciate this)! And carry in your vehicle some spare 45 plain sleeves so any of those Psych & rare soul/funk 45's do not get damaged when travelling home.

And...we have similar taste...I LOVE bachelor pad, space-age lounge & exotica music. Like you said...so many people pass on those records - and they are fantastic! One of the things I truly enjoy about my collecting habits: I love things that others hate (lounge/exotica, big band & tread-jazz) so I can find phenomenal records often for cheap ($5 or less). In case you didn't know, Tuco, Scott Muni was a legendary progressive FM radio disc jockey in NYC -- WNEW-FM. Introduced things from England every afternoon exclusively. Played whole sides of albums when they were issued. He was friends with many famous musicians (The Beatles) & had been on the radio since 1953 even on AM rock radio. Deep voice. Was called the Professor because he knew so much about the music & its artists. I would say that record would have been junk -- but now that he's passed away it could be a big collector's item in the New York area for those who loved Scottso. As they also called him. He had a huge audience. The Merry Go Round -- look under the song title for the songwriter. A member of that band was Emmit Rhodes. Singer-songwriter multi-instrumentalist who later came out with 3 masterful albums on Dunhill after Paul McCartney came out with his first solo lp where he played every instrument. Rhodes' is melodic pop in a Beatles-McCartney mode -- very clever stuff. His career ended when the record company screwed him over. Made a comeback recently, in his 60s but after recording the album he passed away. Paul Desmond (sax) was a member of the Dave Brubeck Trio and he actually wrote the famous track -- "Take 5". Great videos & stories. Enjoyable trips.

You scored some great stuff. Bummer to find that people wrote their names on the album or on the labels. It was a time that people brought their records to a get together and wanted to make sure that their records don't get mixed up with someone's scratched one. Also not to have their records stolen. It was common practice and I did this with my comic books. Take care.

That's crazy, I never knew of this shop in Burwell. I went through there about 2 months ago when they had a junk jaunt around Sargent which is nearby. Man, I could've scooped those up for myself if I had known. Now that I know I got some competition out there...😉Haha. Those are some nice finds though, wonder how those promos ended up there. A local radio station near Burwell?? Almost anything on MTA is worth checking out, that Spyders caught my eye. I did spot a Sagittarius 45 in Sargent, but they are semi-common when found but always beat. I need the LP on Columbia. Had no idea Canada's 49th Parallel released some singles in the US. Great pickup there. Rovin' Flames was a jackpot, I'll have to check those pink Decca labels from now on. It honestly doesn't surprise me those promos were still there 4 months later. Nebraskans aren't this musically inclined! I may have mentioned before, but I had a WLP 45 score in Grand Island one time with Beaver Patrol's "ESP" which goes for quite some pocket change. Lucked out big time. I'm enjoying the "I'm An Idiot" saga so far! Beats any Netflix series by a long shot. 😂

I wasn't aware lounge space age accordion was a thing. So a little story. I stumbled across some 7"s a month ago then went back a day later when more time. White labels, tricky, dead wax not on discogs at all. Phoned couple of mates. Just took a chance in the end there was some collectable stuff there it always pays to take time of you can, I like your browsing style it's not too hasty just trying to learn and expand knowledge and tastes. 7"s are tricky little things and not on audiophiles wavelength. So great to find someone has only ever made one record in their entire life. Cheers.

Space Age accordion! Go check out The Three Suns-Danny's Inferno! One of my faves! I'm keeping some of the singles...I haven't decided what yet. I need to spend a bit more time with them. One of them, The Roving Flames, a garage 45...I've got a handful of VC friends that collect garage 45s...I think I'm going to put their names in a hat, draw one name, and just send it to them for free! (Paul, Jon, Randy, Garner...I'm talking to you!)

And the TIK & POP favorites still continue / Why didn:t you show condition-because those where at the store were crap $1.98 @ most stores & those 45s $ 1.00 tops

Those promo 45s were in great condition. Perhaps not even played? Some have very minor scuffs probably from being stored without sleeves.

You are racing back to Nebraska for a $50 record but what about the fuel cost? I think you loose something here. If I were you, I would call the shop owner, show the pict and if it was found, asked him/her to send by post.

I'm already driving to these places for my work, so it isn't costing anything...and I got nearly $300 worth of records for about $20. It definitely wouldn't be cost effective to drive around like I do, but I'm already going to these places daily, making deliveries.
