Ohio stunned the defending national champions Virginia in a game that went down to to the wire. Ben Vander Plas caught fire from beyond the arc late, as he dropped in 17 to help the Bobcats stay on top. See the extended highlights here.

I was INCREDIBLY surprised at how mature Preston looked on the court today. Played the entire 40 minutes, and never forced anything. He knew how to play within the offense and never seem panicked for one second. When it mattered most, he turned it on. Amazing game.

That little stretch by Vander Plas in the second half to give the Bobcats a lead was just incredible. He had to be in one of those grooves where you just know everything is going in.

Vander Plas was my English student in his freshman year. (I am a teaching Assistant at OU). He was quite a decent writer as well and an extremely bright student.

Since 2010, Ohio’s has won each of its three NCAAT Round of 64 games: #14MW Ohio vs. #3MW Georgetown (Providence, RI - 2010) #13MW Ohio vs. #4MW Michigan (Nashville, TN - 2012) #13W Ohio vs. #4W Virginia (Bloomington, IN - 2021). Coincidentally, all three coaches (John Thompson III, John Beilein, Tony Bennett) were known for using some element of the Princeton offense in their offensive schemes.

I'll trade the UVA National title for another early exit in the tournament and so would any other D1 team. UVA has extraordinary circumstances leading up to the tournament. They played a very good game considering but Ohio was just better. I would not mind if these two teams formed a home & home series. Highly unlikely but that would be fun, heh

The ACC was horrible this year. When you have teams like Virginia winning the regular season title, Georgia Tech and Florida State playing for the tournament title then you know the league is in trouble talent wise. It was a mess this year. COVID-19 is just an inconvenience for everyone.
