There is definitely a cost to going to VDJ that is more expensive than other applications out there. However there is nothing on the market that is more scriptable, that does not vendor-lock you into a particular mixer or controller. There is quite a bit to be said about that. The music management side in VDJ is unmatched. Serato is bad at it with a very slow launch and pretty limited fields to manage. Rekordbox does a bit better job at this with a large assortment of fields but is all managed in the database itself. I'd rather keep all my info in the tags itself in case I ever switch platforms or the database became unrecoverable. As for the sound I will admit I am one of those people that hear a slightly compressed sound out of VDJ. It's not bad, but it's noticeable to my ears. It's subtle but I notice it more as the extremes are pushed during a performance session. It's not a showstopper at all, but there are some slight differences and my guess is they are more pronounced depending on the hardware.

The only real tip is that to start up the NS7III first before launching the app. Otherwise some of the lighting gets wonky. But it works incredibly well with VDJ.

Hmmmm the mic sound through my controller has to basically go through a gain booster before it makes it to my controller and then the NS7iii. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/osuee6tmx667e2g.html Improving echo, that is something that I have not done a video on. But what I try to do is engage echo and then use my knobs to bring it in and then blend out.

Personally I like Controller HD but it’s so squished. I ended up stopping using it. Wish it was more streamlined. And that is the beauty of VDJ. So many skins to choose from and now a much more competent default skin and modular approach from VDJ. I think that will push skin builders to create even more effective options.

I am running my NS7iii with it. They fixed what seemed to be the bulk of the NS7iii issues a few releases ago.

Certain people are going to like certain workflows and looks. I know when I first looked at VDJ in 2013 I thought it was a joke and didn't give it it's just due which was a shame. The good thing is now VDJ has a very customizable skin plus the ability to change back to it's "old" 2019/v8 skin or of course use any of the skins that are out there.

You need to be in performance mode, then that should give you the option for vertical. Unless maybe you are on a small screen and VDJ is autodetecting resolution and seeing it can't display?

I can't personally speak to how it runs on Windows. I do know a lot of people on W10 with no issues at all. I know that on Catalina it's super stable.

FRUiT is a great skin but I kept on running into some waveform "fuzziness" and this is with a mid-2018 MBP and late-2018 MBP. I think that VDJ took a lot of cues from FRUiT for this redesign with the modularity approach and it was for the better IMO.

@@djlouparis Have you tried FRUiT skin lately? There was an update i believe last year. Yes it definitely looks like they took a bit from FRUiT skin and a bit more from serato skin. Hopefully they will customize it to please as many users possible.

@@djlouparis Guess we need FRUiT for an update! I use a Windows 10 15" Laptop and i have no fuzziness.

@@PressNPlayOfficial yeah on my MBP, even with the super awesome Vega 20 video card on it it just isn't crispy as it needs to be. Then again it may not be an issue with FRUiT directly.

Hmmm, looking at them side by side on my 4K monitor the resolution actually seems pretty similar in terms of clarity. I think this might come down to font choice and sizes, where Serato might have some fonts that have better anti-aliasing properties. And VDJ still kept the smaller Artist/Track sizing from previous versions.

DJ COMBAT its certainly the most robust platform out there in turns of customability, hardware compatibility, and now has a nice let GUI to boot.

If you had seen my other two videos on the subject for me it's part of the journey going from Serato to VDJ. Also KZfaq snubs short-form videos. :)
