Is this new station wing on the former freight line between Shin-Osaka and Nishi-Kujo? I saw a new cab video from a train there and the line was not even on Google Maps.

The whole futuristic train station is amazing! Facial recognition scanner is one thing, but it is awesome that the tracks have barriors that move according to where the doors are on a train. Restroom signs that show how many toilets are vacant should be everywhere! It would save you having to awkwardly wait by the sink...

Fond memories of Osaka station. My flights into Kansai always come in very early. So I have to find something to do in Osaka while I wait to be able to check into my hotel. I often spend a lot of time in the green area at the station feeling very tired from lack of sleep! The new part of the station looks great. I can't wait to see it in person. One great thing is the Haruka now stops there. I used to have to come back to Osaka station from Shin-Osaka station. Thank you for the video. Both nostalgic and also great to see the fruits of all the construction that was going on back when I visited before.

3:41 but will the new gate work with masks though? Facial recognition usually requires the nose and mouth along with the eyes to map the face correctly. Hmm, Japan's penchant for masks will surely make this an interesting research project.

The platform safety doors adapting to the different train door configurations is fantastic! I've been to Japan and the open platforms were normal. The Tokyo Disney stations were the only platforms I encountered that had a safety wall with doors, waist high, but the cars had to stop lined up with them. The adjustable ones can account for variance in the stop position.

@@0_________________ The difference is that a person can work around most of those systems, even if they are inconvenient. Facial recognition is straight up Big Brother watching and recording. Bank transactions? Use cash and money orders. Car plate? You can rent and use taxi services. The thing about becoming a surveillance state is that it is a one way slippery slope. Cameras are never removed from the system, only added.

@RogerRamjet "privacy laws" doesn't stop the government itself, and never has. It isn't like the Japanese government is known for regimenting their society into a culture of self-sacrifice in exchange for not going against the "group" or anything... I wouldn't trust the same government that enables its schools to discriminate people for having an "unnatural hair color" just for not having "natural" dark black hair.

@FirstLastOne
@FirstLastOne Жыл бұрын
New paint!!! That's better than in Vancouver, Canada where they built a subway line with platforms that will only ever fit a two car train because they never thought people would use that line. That line serves YVR, Vancouver International Airport and Richmond to downtown Vancouver. Even worse, they couldn't even mark the platforms at each station to let you know where to stand to board the train and these trains all have the same door configuration and are FULLY automated with no driver. 13 years later and that line is reaching capacity while they continue adding new stations in between original stations and building many new high-rise residential towers around the stations.
