I have a theory-the consciousness of anyone killed by a Harvester, Mimic, or Host is absorbed by the Crawl and sometimes is regrown as a Trimming. This is why Trimmings lament and cry at night.

Or they like to mimic the behaviour of observed infant animals (including humans, explaining the constant screaming and dying at night) so that older animals like humans want to take care of them. It doesn’t work with non-humans so they adapted to only really try it with humans

I work in a vet clinic and one thing not mentioned in this video is that you should NEVER use harsh soaps on a trimming. I've seen way too many of these guys come in crying in pain because of the bad condition their skin is in due to the strong antibacterial soaps people use.... if you've ever heard it you know it's a sound that will haunt you forever 😢 If in doubt, please find a veterinarian approved trimming soap! We are still learning about these guys and can not guarantee that any other soap won't be harmful.

This!! I've seen so many tragic cases of peoples Trimming dying because they used dish soap to wash them, who in their right mind would even do that!?! This is an example of how if you REALLY want a pet, you should study first. Don't get on just because of instinct, you'll hurt it more than caring for it.

Miss my little Trimbles so much, he was my best buddy for 10 years. He was very sick toward the end, his shrieks uncharacteristically quiet, and began losing his sense of direction. On his last day, I found him in the meat drawer of the fridge, poor baby must have crawled in while I was getting a midnight snack. He was sluggish, but still as cuddly as ever, and he fell asleep in my lap and never woke up again. I hope his suffering was minimal. I’ll never forget the way he’d nod his little head when I told him about work and family drama. He took an especially keen interest in politics and seemed to nod even more intently whenever we watched news about the government together. Miss you every day, baby boy, rest well.

I think its interesting that we got the scene with the trimming "enjoying" the "funny noises" from the radio, given the news clipping about over 400 trimmings gathering under a large, abandoned satellite dish. Maybe they're hearing something we can't.

If you think your trimming is possibly a young mimic follow these instructions: Step 1. Check how many legs it has. If has 6 or more legs, it is likely a trimming, but it could still be a mutated mimic. Step 2. Check if it has large bulbous eyes. If it does it is likely a mimic. To be certain, follow the next step. Step 3. Check if it has a large, creepy smile. If it does, it is a mimic. Step 4. Observe it from far away and act more cautious. It will hunt small animals for food. Step 5. Arm yourself with a weapon for self defense and pretend to lower your guard. If it attacks you reveal your weapon and follow The Mimic Safety Guide's instructions. If it doesn't you may have tamed or befriended a mimic. Afterwords contact the authorities and tell them what you learned so they can be ready to contain it in case it attacks you. Otherwise they will let you continue caring for it and observe it. For information on how to care for mimics, please type /mimic

@@B_4035mn Mimics are a carnivorous species, and require, when at full legal growth, small - medium-small animals to pray on. mimics are cunning creatures and will want a challenge to get food, so you can request an area to let your mimic hunt, which will also let it get exercise. If your request gets denied, you can instead buy certain small - medium-small animals for them to chase in your backyard. They prefer mammalian prey, but will hunt large birds if hungry enough. Examples of these include: geese, turkeys, ducks, chickens, owls, seagulls, and more. Most mimic owners let the mimics out before the prey so they have a chance to hide and set up an ambush for the prey. If your mimic is getting lazy, let the prey animal out first so the mimic must chase the prey. It is required to feed them GP (Growth Preventatives) once a month to keep them from reaching adulthood, as adult mimics hunt exclusively human. If you fail to feed your mimic enough, it *WILL* hunt you for food, so don't decrease the amount of food it gets as punishment. To prevent an undesired behavior, instead remove hiding spots, as mimics love to play hide and seek with owners, even if it isn't hunting them. A healthy weight for a mimic is 85 - 95 pounds / 39 - 43 kilograms. A healthy mimic is usually bright, cherry red, and is relatively quiet, unless it is chasing prey. A mimic is a high maintenance pet and is highly dangerous, so make sure to consult a professional before trying anything new. Mimics are susceptible to all diseases humans are, as they are made of human flesh, and more. Mimic are more solitary creature, so you can leave it unattended for short periods of time. Mimics are aggressive creatures once they reach the point they would mature at (5-6 months) and thus are exceptionally good guard "dogs". If your mimics limbs start lengthening, contact the authorities immediately, as it may have failed to consume enough GP and is growing to the next stage in its life cycle. If it acquires enough food it may at about 1 year old grow human-like skin. If you overfeed it, it will instead grow immune to GP and skip the second stage of its life and grow thick black skin, as it would when overfed as an adult, and become an elder mimic. for information about the elder mimic, click the following link and go to 4:44 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eLaWZct3uN3Uf6c.html . A healthy mimic will usually clean itself, similarly to how a cat would. if you need more info, type /?mimic.

I’ve always had really serious anxiety, like it’s debilitating. It’s linked to some trauma with a close encounter with a mimic in my early childhood. I’ve always had such fear all vita carnis to the point where I was literally incapable of sleep and my parents put me in a hospital for people suffering from similar types of anxiety. I think it was around my fourth month when the therapist I was working with introduced the idea of me keeping a pet trimming. It took me a long time so warm up to the idea but around the seventh month I met the little guy. It was just a baby trimming and we were both equally terrified of each other. he stayed in a sound proof room in the hospital (not to disturb the patients) and was taken care of by the doctors. About a week living in the hospital he got very adigitated and broke out of his room and ran to a closet, turns out a mimic was hiding in there. Don’t worry we got out and the authorities killed of the mimic and no one was harmed. My little hero probably saved my life and everyone else in the hospital. After that we bonded much easier and became best friends. When I got out he became my licensed therapist pet and we got really close. Because we got him when he was so young I got a good 6 years with my little critter. Unfortunately he passed away around July, once again dying as a hero. A pretty bad bad earth quake happened where I was living and a tree collapsed on him while he was socializing, when I got to him I saw two little budding trimmings he saved from the tree curled up in his arms. Im sorry my little hero. His named was Clark. I ended up adopting the trimmings be saved and their named Alice and Jamie. This happened about 6 months ago so I’m hoping to have a great time with my two little buddies but I’ll always miss Clark.

Trimmings are adorable, but can save your life. When I was about 8 or 9, I was really fascinated with the living meat family, and wanted a Trimming. After weeks and weeks of begging my mom to get one, she finally did. We named him Red, because he looked really red. When we got him, he was so small, he fit in the palm of my hand. He had just gotten out of the Crawl, and I saw it in the Trimming cage. We took him home, and he instantly imprinted on me. Then, an invasion happened. He screamed so loud, the house . I looked at the cameras, and saw, like, 5 Mimics in our yard. By that time, we were all hiding. Some got in, some stayed away. We all survived, thanks to Red. I'm 13, now, and I still have Red. Thanks, little man.

I once had a really close encounter with a mimic- I saw it peering into my windows via the cameras I have set up outside. I had decided to board up the windows and reinforce my house with a really good alarm system, but it just kept finding ways to sneak around them. I’m still not entirely sure why I kept living there. I guess I was afraid that if I left the house, it would follow me. One day, I heard some odd noises coming from my living room. I knew it wasn’t the mimic, so I went to go check what it was, and it was my two trimmings- Kibble and Pork- making wailing sounds at an odd crack in the wall. Wouldn’t you know it, a mimic (likely had just finished maturing) was staring right through the hole. Seemed like it had been digging it from the outside for lord knows how long. I maintained eye contact with the bastard and got my gun, but by then it had left. House is now properly fixed and my little trimmings have been acting more relaxed now. All’s well that ends well I guess, just hoping that officials caught the thing before it moved onto another house.

The worst part about keeping trimmings isn't their loud noises or grazing habits or their affinity for chewing on your pipes under the sink; it's their short lifespans. 4 years can fly by sometimes, and before you know it, your little buddy ain't making noises anymore, and barely eats now. It's always tough to lose one. (Yes, I know the video said they can live 8-12, but that's mainly when you get them as little buds, the ones at rescues live far shorter.) Almost as tough as it is to constantly hear "better get the smashers" or "Feed it to a real pet like a python" when you just wanna post cute pics of your little meat turtles online. Seriously, I understand Rat owners now, that shit is annoying as hell. We get it; feeder trimmings exist, and so do pest breeds. That doesn't mean every trimming you see is a feeder, and that doesn't mean every trimming you see is carrying ticks. Let us enjoy our little living sirens in peace.

I can't believe people would respond to a Trimming like that. I hate rats, but not Trimmings. Rats deserve it, Trimmings do not. Rats and Trimmings are nothing alike. Rats are pests, vermin, disease-ridden and generally a negative in their environment. They travel on ships and invade to destroy ecosystems. The Crawl greatly enriches biodiversity, while Trimmings and Meat Snakes reduce disease and clean up carrion. Trimmings aren't disease-ridden, although they can carry ticks (but so can deer, dogs, and cats!). They are scavengers that PREVENT disease, they eat carrion, and they are both cuddly and kind to boot. Trimmings are based and I would love to have one some day.

Seen a good number of concerning comments about accidental mimic acquisition on this video, and as someone who’s seen many similar situations go downhill fast I feel the need to step in and say it outright before anyone gets the wrong idea. It doesn’t matter where you found it, how it acts around you, or how well you take care of it: *Mimics are not pets.* For every feelgood social media profile claiming the one they adopted is ‘hand-raised’ or ‘docile’, there are ten more people who thought the exact same thing of theirs and wound up as their beloved pet’s dinner regardless. They quite literally evolved to hunt and eat you, and they’re damn good at it to boot. Always take necessary precautions when looking to adopt a trimming, especially in areas with high mimic populations: ask to meet the trimming you plan on adopting in person before bringing them home, do thorough research into juvenile mimic behaviour so you know what warning signs to look out for, adopt don’t shop if possible, and if you suspect you may have a mimic in your home, *contact local authorities or animal control immediately.* Trimmings are wonderful pets (I have two myself) and I highly encourage looking into owning one, but make sure you’re taking all the steps needed to ensure you aren’t accidentally bringing home the future cause of your own gory demise instead, intentional or not.

honestly? the real danger is if it DOES take a liking to you, because now there’s a mimic living in a neighborhood with the perfect excuse. “oh, Gregs mimic would NEVER hurt anyone! i mean, he would be dead if it did, right?” it’d be like if you set up a camp in a fucking supermarket.

I Have a trimming named Frikadelle (essentially German for meatball) and he's a little more energetic than most trimmings. I managed to train him to be not-so-nocturnal (A long story in-and-of-itself) And he loves running around in the yard with my dog, There's been a few occasions where he yelled at the neighbors, but the noise complaints have been kept down to about 3 this year. He also loves snuggling by the large fireplace I have upstairs, since he DESPISES the cold but loves being warm. Oh, And we originally found him eating out of our trashcan on a rainy evening, So we took the poor little guy in. Extra super duper secret bonus secret: His favorite snack is leftover grilled chicken.

I found Malory while taking my dog out at night. My dog was going insane, so I checked it out, and there she was, hissing and spitting in the corner. I decided to take her in, fed her some leftovers, and she got attached to me. She loved the outdoors, so I liked to take her hiking. One time she even saved my life, because she seemed uncharacteristically mad at something. I threw a rock at the area she was seemingly mad at, and boom! Outta nowhere, a harvester tendril comes out of the ground and thrashes at the rock.

Reminds me of a story I once heard. Like, this was supposedly 40 years ago and theres no hard evidence for it, but apparently some old guy took in a Trimming after his son died in afghanistan (this was in Russia or something) and raised it. Turns out, it was a Mimic and the guy had no idea cause the Soviets were of the opinion there weren't such things as Mimics and people who said otherwise were arrested. Now, instead of the usual progression of the Mimic growing up and eating the guy or just running away, this story says that this guy just... had a pet Mimic. it'd come back after it grown to digest meals which were still humans and shit, but it'd just ghost around this guys cabin. Old guy never had any issues with it, and had grown attached to it. Long story short it eventually began to morph into a human-like Mimic and heres where things get really interesting. Normally Mimics can only copy what other humans do, like even the more human like mimics can still regularly mess up and get caught because theyre just pretending. Well, this old guy went the next mile thinking that this was Gods way of giving him back a son. Taught it how to read the bible and write, just be a normal person. The most common thread of this story is that eventually this Mimic becomes a fully fledged member of society, getting a job and hobbies, the whole nine yards. It sustained itself by buying human meat from corrupt morticians and the like and lived like anyone else. After the old man died the story varies even more, some saying it reverted to its murderous ways out of grief or it lived silently until it died and was given a christian burial, or even it was only revealed to be a Mimic after it died in an industrial accident. Of course, actual attempts to do this have (as far as I know) all failed utterly, but I like to think that maybe, just maybe, we could figure out what makes them tick. Understand them. Until then, kill em all and let god sort them out.

Be careful where you get your trimming from! I went to a...less than reputable breeder because of the lower costs, and ended up bringing a bloody juvenile mimic home!! Now, it turned out well enough in the end. Gorey was thankfully a very docile member of their species, and I managed to tame them and keep them human-friendly even as they matured! I bring them for walks in a climbing harness, and they sleep on a rug under my bed all folded up, usually purring. Its really sweet.^^ Never had any issues at all really, aside from a few scares when opening a random closet only to come face to face with Gorey's massive ass grin. Scares us both equally every goddamn time...xD Almost gave my poor old grandma a heartattack once, but she was snooping around my stuff so like...it was her own fault really. As for the whole diet thing, mimics normally hunting humans and all, I feed Gorey quality dogfood of the raw variety.^^ It works really well for them. I also pick up hearts, lungs, kidneys, and livers from a small lokal slaughterhouse to make sure they get all those vitamins only organs can provide. Aside from that, Gorey loves carrots. Especially frozen ones... We also get all of those hunting instincts out of the way by playing hide and seek, or by me hiding their fav toy (out of morbid humor it is indeed a doll made out of fabric...) or some meaty goodies somewhere for them to seek out. They are very careful when seeking too, and I have only been bitten a few times, only twice needing stitches, and it was mostly my fault anyway so...meh! I got a rabies shot, some antibiotica, and then we moved on.^^ So yeah, I guess if you get a mimic instead of a trimming, it can go well. They are smart enough to be trained, clearly. I still would not recommend it though. Its very much like going out to adopt a cat and ending up with a tiger. They are wild animals hardwired to eat humans specifically! Don't mess with a wild mimic, and not even a tame one if you don't know it. Gorey for sure dont like strangers, thats why we take all our walks in the woods far from other people. I honestly believe that the only reason Gorey has ended up so well adjusted is because I am at home most of the time, and was willing to really put the work in. Ton of work went into training Gorey once I realized my predicament, and while I can now safely take them on walks in populated areas with just their harness and their doll for distractions, it was not an easy road. I also suspect that Gorey is a bit mentally handicapped. Either from some genetic defect, or from not having been given enough nutrients while still just a lil blob on the vine. Or both. They are not all there basically, dont have that drive to survive, and would probably have died in the wild. Still very smart and capable, just not independent. So in the end, make sure to be careful when adopting a trimming! Count those legs, watch out for any aggressive behaviours, and always adopt from places you know are serious about breeding and keeping trimmings!

You’re advice couldn’t be more misinformed. Trimmings require a LOT of care and attention. Unlike cats which would do fine on their own and generally don’t actually form Bon’s with their owners.
@cawareyoudoin7379
@cawareyoudoin7379 6 ай бұрын
@@jimmymcgill2961 Actually, cats and trimmings both require just as much attention as dogs. Trimmings were domesticated much later than cats, so there are obviously wild populations all around, but cats don't have a natural habitat anymore, and are invasive everywhere. You should not let your cat just wander off outside, but instead take it on walks and provide plenty of space and enrichment for it inside. Both your cats and trimmings should be leashed on walks, so that they pose no danger to themselves or others. Trimmings won't reproduce in the wild like cats do, but they are a much easier prey item, so you do have to make sure they don't escape either. But cats can spread more misery around, decimating your small wildlife population, making more homeless cats, and being in danger themselves.

I’ve been working on writing a script of my own, kind of like a radio play, and I’m gonna try recording it with my little guy soon- maybe we’ll even be able to perform it live someday!

Aren't trimmings naturally scavengers? I was wondering about this because mine has picked up the habit of attacking and eating squirrels. Granted, I've stopped having problems with squirrels nesting in my gutters and staling from my bird feeders, but this is apparently considered unusual behavior for them.

Interesting. In the previous educational tape it said 3-4 years was the maximum life expectancy. I know they're the bottom of the food chain but to go to 8-12 is a huge difference. I wonder if that means something changed in the interim.

Protection from predators is super big in that increased lifespan for trimmings most likey. Trimmings are basically helpless meat potatos, and everything that likes meat sees them as an easy meal. And they don't seem particularly fast either, so they're not going to be able to escape a predator with much success. In the wild they probably get picked off very fast once they're large enough to be seen as a viable meal bu medium to large predators.

I got a pet Trimming as a support animal a little while ago to cope with the death of my cousin who lived in New York, he died in a mimic attack in his house after his shift ended, and my little Humphrey has helped me through it so much! He looks a little weird though, as he only has four legs, and is starting to stand on his hind legs. I also caught him staring at me from my doorway yesterday, but I'm sure he just wanted to see me! The fact they're called "trimmings" definitely imply they were either failed crawl spawn or maybe cut off too early. Could even be they're sorta like a "cancer" for the crawl. Harmful to it but harmless-maybe beneficial to us. Considering there's clearly something supernatural and weird going on with the crawl, could be possible. The puppet here definitely looks somewhat fetus-like to me.

My grandpa always lived with at least one trimming in his house. They are great watch dogs without all the annoying barking! Grnadpa claimed that they saved him from many mimic encounters during walks, apparently mimics won't touch 'em. As a young kid, he taught me how to take care of one and I knew right away I wanted to buy one from a trimming facility. I didn't want one from a shelter because they come with all sorts of trauma, and I want a well-rounded trimming for my first pet. I knew how to raise them, but I never knew how easy it was to take care of them! Dinks lived a fantastic nine years with me and got me trough college and my first job. Unfortunately an aggressive bone cancer took him, and even after amputating the most affected four of his eight legs, he couldn't keep going. Saying goodbye was the hardest thing to do, I'll never forget his laments when he saw me cry. RIP Dinks, you were the sweetest trimming I ever knew.
