The idea of a child crying in pain as it's flesh being slowly stripped away by an uncaring natural horror is truely both terrifying and an effective parody of nature. This is the first video of the series that actually brought shivers down my spine

The idea of the harvester is terrifying but there is a very close real life analogy. In yellow stone nationonal park there are parts of the land where they are incredibly thin, especially closer to geysers. It looks just solid ground but the moment you walk across it you would have fallen into a crevice containing boiling hot and possibly acidic water. Even if you caught your self before you hit the waters you would still be cooked alive by the steam coming up. Which is why the rules about the path ways are so important Fun facts 😊

From what I can interpret by the video and the infomercial on Harvesters, it appears that the child got snagged by those tendrils, injected with both toxins and was thus paralyzed and bleeding. However, the second pair of tendrils soon risen from the ground, burying the child alive in the process and thus continue feeding until everything was consumed. The same fate most likely happened to the mother as well.

what's particularly interesting to me is it seems this video is almost suggesting that Harvesters have moved further away from urban areas as if triggered by incidents like this. at least, they definitely seem to be migrating away from major cities, anyway, and concentrating around the hudson bay, which not a lot of major cities are built around. my canadian geography is quite dusty, but that's what seems to be happening anyway, and this can be corroborated by earlier videos saying Harvesters almost exclusively will form out in the wilderness away from urban areas. if they are deliberately moving away in order to avoid humans, i think its most-likely that its due to not wanting to compete with mimics though.

What makes this the most terrifying for me is imagining if it actually happened. You’re just having fun in the woods with your children, then one just suddenly screams in pain and fear, calling out for you, their go-to for comfort, to help them escape the pain and suffering. But you can’t do a thing as you watch them die slowly and painfully and you just feel like you failed them so miserably. I can’t imagine losing a kid in any scenario similar to this.

Perhaps it’s something to do with the prince? He was in a deep slumber for god knows how long after *getting stranded on an unknown island,* and according to the story seems to have woken up and made a pact with the critters to save their home, it would also explain why vita carnis only appeared in the 1930’s, considering sleeping for a *very long time* from a time of feudal kings and queens could place someone in the 20th century My guess is, the prince is the origin of vita carnis, and the vita carnis are his creation to fulfill the promise of restoring nature, crawl grows and decays to feed plants, the trimmings help feed predators so they won’t have to be so reliant on dying prey species, meat snakes eat corpses so they won’t spread plague and when they die they feed plants, harvesters eat predators so they won’t grow too fast and start killing too many trimmings and normal prey and then use their remains to feed the plants, mimics and hosts both prey on humans to lower their numbers and spread disorder, allowing nature to retake what soon becomes abandoned As for monoliths, I dunno what purpose they serve, perhaps it’s akin to the rumbling of AoT, perhaps if humanity starts militarizing against mimics and hosts or otherwise is pushing back against the nature vita carnis is trying to nurture, the monoliths probably are there to mobilize and cause a catastrophe of culling off large swathes of humanity, they’re powerful and nigh unkillable, they might just even be meant for an extinction of humanity itself And the singularity, perhaps that’s the prince, or perhaps it was created by the prince to create the vita carnis, it is worth noting a meter diameter would probably be the appropriate size for a bubble shielding a human curled up

i think this is the first time I've seen an analogue horror series use threats that feel alive and also make you feel like you're lower on the food chain, with other monsters in analogue horror it's usually psychological or no win scenarios, or corporate horror. which are fine and intriguing in their own way, hence why i loved the Mandela catalogue so much, the fear and paranoia of not being able to trust anyone is genuinely freaky and thought provoking. But what i feel sets this series apart from the others are the Carnis species themselves, they still act like a part of nature, at least so far, they function the same way most animals would, the mimics being afraid of loud noises and being patient with their prey and hiding in plain sight, the Harvesters only going after large prey and understanding small prey isn't worth the effort, these are all survivable situations but your chances of surviving encounters or in general encountering one in the first place is 50/50, much like you are to encounter a lack bear, grizzly bear, or Puma, that is what made this video in particular so horrifying, you could actually imagine a situation like this happening in real life. the false sense of security as you are told these creatures are rare before you encounter one, an unfortunate coincidence that is nobody's fault, just nature being nature. Ignorance is bliss, but sometimes that ignorance can coast a life or your own. You can beat these things, you just need to know how. or be cunning enough to to do so, the strong survive and all that. some are easier, others require extreme luck. these creatures feed where we feed. they may prey on us. some rely on us for their diet others have a wide range of prey, it's simply not picky, much like a crocodile in the river, it's not targeting you, you were merely the best thing available at the time.

Full storybook so far: Once upon a time, there was a distant kingdom. The kingdom was ... the royal family were magical ... They traveled land and sea to discover new places and learn what ... During the travels on one of their expeditions, a great storm struck. It was so powerful, it swayed the boat the royal family rode and pushed the prince out and into the sea. After being stranded at sea, the young prince eventually was cast to an island. Injured, the prince stumbled his way into a nearby cave. The prince used what magic he could to put himself into a healing sleep. But the prince's sleep was long. He slept for what seemed like forever. As he slept, the land around him changed and grew. It was unrecognizable from when the prince first arrived. But the sleep still needed time to heal the prince, much more time, but it kept the prince safe while he rested, guarding him from the elements as the land changed. Outside the cave, during a time of hardship, lived the island critters. The critters were struggling in this hard time. There was barely any food to go around. They would go and gather whatever they could. .... Although one day, the critters found the cave while searching for food. They found the prince in his trance in his healing sleep. The critters were so awe-struck and enchanted by the prince's magic. ..."Who is this creature?" "Why are they here?" "Are they dangerous?" A thought was brought up. What if this creature could use its magic to help them? It may grow food or heal sickness. They continued to argue about the prince and his magic. In the end, the majority of the critters agreed that the prince was dangerous and should not be meddled with. Although the other critters ignored the rest of their fellow kind. Instead, they secretly visited the slumbering visitor. They snuck what little food they had and carefully fed it to the prince, greatly hastening their recovery. One day, the prince awoke suddenly. Thanks to the critters' assistance, the healing process had finished very quickly. The prince had fully recovered, and was now fully awake and aware of their surroundings. Surprised by the sudden awakening, the critters ducked and hid from the Prince's sight. One of the critters built up the courage to meet the now-awake stranger. They crawled to the prince's side, and extended their hand in friendship. The prince reached back. And together, they had formed the bond that will change their fate. The critters led the prince out of the cave, up to the top of the hill the prince had been buried under, and showed them the forest. "This is our home. Full of wonder and beauty. Although, the forest struggles to provide for all of us critters, and we are facing disaster. Can you help us?" The prince stood back, spread his arms, and before him glew a bright light. Mystical shapes and colors, lights and figures! The critters watched with wide eyes. Such sublime brilliance. The prince completed his display. He vowed, with the power he held and the help of his kingdom, he shall heal their home.

@DolphinDemyx I think sea = space and that whole "changing world" segment implies that this organism came to our planet (the island) before it harbored life so it slept through its emergence (or perhaps was the unconscious source of it, considering it shares similar structures with advanced lifeforms i.e. meat, muscles etc.). The part I really want to figure out is about critters feeding the prince - was it humans and it describes the beginning of the mysterious cult or is it just a fanciful way of implying it awoke and started feeding on the fauna. Whichever it is matters due to the last part - what does it mean that it wants to heal their home? Is it trying to cull humanity due to it's destructive growth and development? Or maybe it tries to carve itself a niche in the ecosystem and mimics are just a part of it, targeting humans because they have no natural predator? I think Hosts of Influence don't specifically target us so it might not actually be aimed at our species. Also a thing I've just thought of - the whole storybook must be made by humans, possibly the cult, so it might be completely biased description of events and the motivation of the "prince" could be just an interpretation while it's just an organism trying to adapt to the whole ecosystem. Then again, why were immobile Harvesters migrating supposedly to hunt down a single family? Questions, questions, questions and very little answers so far.

This ties very well into my "Elder god invasion" theory : Trimmings : Cannonfodder made as an easy access of nutrients for most creatures. The meat snake : A creature made specifically to funnel high amounts of nutrients and other resources directly to the crawl, practically making sure none of it goes to other creatures by forms of poisons and highly virulent tissue. The mimic : Made exactly for invasion, if major amounts of nutrients or other resources possibly via the Harvester could be stacked up for a while, it could be released in masse to slowly take over and assimilate the leading intelligent species of said planet. The harvester : A bulb directly connected to the Crawl, used for major nutrients collection and could work as the leading force of the invasion as it slowly pumps resources directly into the Crawl. The host : Possibly made for intelligence collection as the spores have abnormal uses and I don't believe much is known about the Host, also most other possible methods of intelligence collection is Unknown. The monoliths : Possibly related to the Hosts the monoliths seemingly function as a way to subjugate any intelligent species on said planet forming into a wide ring on the most reliable area preparing for some time, and then releasing a massive emp blast that would send most technology out of commission, practically turning everything to the dark ages, allowing less communication and the full invasion to start. The singularity : A connection point between the greater consciousness and the crawl, once an area is greatly infested by the crawl, I believe it will send orders to the Monoliths and the Harvesters to get to work, causing the invasion to start and the following subjugation and assimilation to occur. If I am correct the Singularity is the prince, and it is in fact trying to cull humanity.

@@Vanreis my personal interpretation is that the critters are _literal_ critters, and that the disaster befalling the "forest" (earth) is humanity. vita carnis directly benefits ecosystems it lives in, and its main targets are humans. as such, perhaps it saw the growing imbalance of nature vs humanity and sought to rectify that-by eliminating humanity from the picture.

Between the way that the harvesters - which are completely sessile organisms directly attached to the creep colony which spawned them - somehow _migrated_ and the 'impossible' footage of the family photograph rotting and the victims' remains decaying underground, I'm wondering if this indicates that the Carnis phenomenon can generate supernatural "sports". So the Monoliths are a black swan not in that there will be more of them eventually, but that there will be other instances where _Vita Carnis_ just... stops playing by any of the usual rules. In this case, it decided to start 'hunting' a specific family, warping the Carnis ecosystem into a weapon for the task.

I have a theory that the monoliths are actually a bunch of harvesters that came together and formed a giant creature, since the monoliths have all those tendrils under the ground. Also- when Canada is flipped upside down, you see a formation that looks suspiciously like a monolith head. Also in the video where it said they were located, there was a red dot in the island of that triangle formation, but the equator was censored. I think the monoliths surround the singularity and the disturbance they did once was what created it

Out of all of the videos I've come across on the term of analog horror, this one is straight up nightmare fuel. The deterioration of a young child crying for help, in which is expected since parents always help them in everything. But no, this is something not even parents can get them out of, because it's already too late. Hats off to you, Darian. I probably won't rest easy tonight.

I have a theory. So at 2:24, it looks as if that's blood flowing through water in a dark hole underground, the camera facing up to show the hole within the ground that the victim was pulled through. I think beneath the ground is some sort of pool of acid that the harvester uses to devolve its victims. If you really look closely at the melting faces, it looks as if liquid is washing the flesh away. Also I've seen a lot of people point out that the harvesters kill their victims before pulling them underground. I'd like to further back the theory of them already dead up by pointing out how #1) they wouldn't be able to scream so clearly when in a pool of acid or even underground and #2) the screams were still playing when there was barely any flesh hanging on. That wouldn't be possible because you'd think their throats and lungs would be exposed and would cut off all sound, replacing it with a wet gurgling sound if they would even still be alive at that point. Either way, this is what I'm telling myself to keep myself from going crazy after being traumatized by this. Well done, Darian. You officially broke me. 😂

For me it isn't the large meat bulb that snags things and eats them thats really scares me, its the loss of family. Losing a child is one of the worst things that could happen to a parent. A father and daughter waiting for a mother and brother that would never return. The screams of the child, the mourning of the mother, the skulls melting in the background and the shot of the dead child bleeding out. Jesus Christ, it all looks and sounds so real. This is definitely gonna be "out there" but I have a theory: We know trimmings come from the crawl, starting out as nodes. We know harvesters come from the crawl, again starting out as overgrown nodes. What if the leftovers of the harvesters' prey- the "trimmings"- are recycled by the crawl? Trimmings would be the leftovers of animals and maybe small children, while mimics are recycled humans. Something about the prolonged focus on screams in this video combined with the prolonged focus on the nocturnal trimming calls seems just a bit too similar to me to be ignored. There might also be a storybook lore tie-in, as the prince might use his magic to "help" the critters not just by providing nutrition, but by bringing back their loved ones. But hey, that's JUST A THEORY. A- **gets struck down by copyright**

Even the best horror game has never made me feel this type of pure, raw terror. You know whenever you tear up in fear? That didn't happen to me. if you wanna think maybe positively about their deaths is that they most definitely died relatively quick and their pain was short-lived, due to the venoms composing of neurotoxin and anticoagulant, neurotoxin will almost immediately shutdown any bodily activity (including pain), the blood lost combined with the neurotoxin will also put the body under shock so you probably won't even realize what's happening after few seconds, your brain will stop thinking and you just fall flat before you black out, maybe optimistically you'll die before you're even dragged underground

that's not how neurotoxins work. for a real-life example, look to improperly-prepared (and then eaten) fugu, which contains tetrodotoxin (an extremely potent neurotoxin): though the person is fully conscious, they have lost motor function as the TTX inhibits nervous stimuli from affecting muscle contractions. ventilation is required as the diaphragm will eventually be unable to function and thus render breathing impossible. in other words, it does _nothing_ for pain. it merely paralyzes you. either you die from respiratory failure or blood loss. unless it hits an artery, respiratory failure will kill you first as such a high dose delivered directly into tissue will work within ten to fifteen minutes.

Imagine taking your children, both 5 and 7 years old out to play in the forest. You have no worry, as those.. “things” aren’t in your area. That’s what you’ve been told. It’s safe to play in these forests. You see them chasing squirrels and playing tag. You and your husband are laughing at your children, remembering old memories while forming new ones. Then, a scream. It was then that you saw a long, red tendril laced in small, but pointed spears. And not just one, but multiple. But the screams aren’t coming from an animal. It’s from your kid, being thrashed and cut from all angles from what seems like 5 or 6 of these death strings. He’s laying there, crying. You don’t know what to do, but your husband does. He’s sitting there, tears forming in his hardened face as he watches his kid bleed to death, before being dragged into the earth, never to be seen again. Your other child is running away from Tim’s now dangerous gravesite. You run towards Tim and throw him with all of your strength; barely tossing him 5 feet before your husband drags him off the floor and into the gray Toyota he bought you for your anniversary. In an instant, you begin to feel a sharp pain in your leg, then everywhere. All. At. Once. Moments later, you’re laying in the same position your son was; bleeding in agony as you see smaller, but thick tendrils dig you into the earth, ready to feast on you. The last thing you see - is the Toyota speeding onto the nearby highway. The last thing you hear, well.. The sounds of dirt rippling, and blood flowing into your head for the last time.

Especially Drosera's; The tall thin sticky ones, that wrap themselves around the unlucky bug to digest them whole, and eventually metabolise them to grow (among other things) healthy roots. So far it's clear this guy did his homework regarding scientific communication. If I didn't know any better I would almost completely lose suspension of disbelief. Seeing an analogue horror open with a half-hour documentary about the taxonomy of the antagonist is endlessly fascinating to me. Especially when the scientific lingo being used was almost impeccably 100% believable and logical; like how a real-life scientist would word things. It's rare to see fictional science characters that actually seem to know what they're talking about. This channel deserves so much more views. Like, how much effort must it have been to implement the practical effects we saw in that pet Trimming video? I hope you keep making cool stuff and I hope you know that there are people out there that understand how much time and effort and ambition it must have took a person to put a video together like that :) And to release it all on KZfaq for us all to see for free? That's some big dick energy right there

I think the interesting part of the Analogue horror is that it really isn’t one. Most analogue horror videos take the basis of some super natural entity. The thing about this series though is that it could definitely be in the real world. The way we learn about Vita Carnis is through the videos. And the fact that the harvester changed its methods and followed the family is scary because everything we learned in the orientation videos was flipped into its head.

It took me back all the way to discovering this side of KZfaq in 2010 Another reason it scares the shit outta me… there’s a forest in my backyard that goes on for a long time, and I live right where there’d be a bunch of harvesters. This is truly a work of art. I saw this when it was released, like a couple of days later maybe but when I saw some youtuber reacting to this series I had to come back to the original to watch it again. Whoever did the screams did an incredible job making them sound as realistic as possible. That paired up with the visual effects makes for one the most disturbing pieces of analog horror on youtube. ngl, I feel like screams like that are underutilized. This is by far the most terrifying entry to this series so far. Most of the others were more interesting than scary, but this... This is proper nightmare fuel. Part of it could be how quickly everything went wrong, but those screams and the way you distorted them (despite seemingly being impossible as you claimed the harvesters inflicted a paralyzing neurotoxin into its victims, although that could have been a lie by whichever in-universe entity produced the documentary videos to make them seem less dangerous or a recent change within the harvesters to either stop producing that toxin or the ability to not inject it if they choose) is absolutely chilling.

From what I can interpret of this video for the bigger picture, perhaps what makes the island special has to do with the prince we read about? It says that he was stranded in a strange island, and the fact he went to sleep for a very long time, by fairy tale standards, that means he would’ve been asleep for years, decades, perhaps even centuries, which could allow him to go from sleeping in an feudal era of kings and queens to waking up in the 20th century, and he’s awoken to do one thing, restore nature as per a pact he made with the animals that fed him(though I reckon the critters feeding him their food may have been fairy tale metaphor for the critters actually being eaten themselves, perhaps some phenomena of mass critter suicide in feeding the ‘sleeping’ prince) The prince may very well be the origin of vita carnis, they each fulfill a role to support nature, the crawl feeds predators and dies to feed plants, the trimmings are born to be killed by predators so they won’t have to eat dying prey species, meat snakes eat corpses so they won’t poison the land with plague, harvesters kill large predators so they don’t outnumber the trimmings and normal prey while also feeding plants, mimics and hosts work to prey on humans so as to keep them from needing to expand onto nature(crawl also does this by making infertile soil fertile again, reducing the human need for new land for farms) (Outdated, see below) But what I can’t wrap my head around are the monoliths, perhaps they’re there to manipulate humans into worship(there is a cult and I reckon they made the crawl cooking video to get people to use the flavor enhancer which I reckon is host spores), or perhaps it’s a situation similar to the rumbling of AOT, they sit there in silence until called on to cull humanity in large swathes(perhaps even be an extinction event), they’re obviously unaffected by military arms(too resilient and regenerate too fast), and can emit EMP fields which would not only cripple the military but entire cities as well(this would destroy infrastructure which would bring even more chaos atop of having a skyscraper of meat tearing through the city (Outdated, see below) And finally, there’s the singularity, perhaps it’s the prince himself(perhaps the prince was never human to begin with), a bubble shielding the prince(a 1 meter diameter would probably be enough for a bubble to envelope a curled up human, assuming the prince is actually humanoid in shape), or a creation of the prince when he created the vita carnis, whatever it may be, perhaps it’s what the swathes of harvesters are heading for, perhaps to feed it like the critters did when they found the prince Edit: after a few rewatches, I’ve revised what I think of the monoliths and singularities are Monoliths: they’re guardians, the time they were active wasn’t them going on the attack, but seemed more like they were clearing the area(they seemed to only attack when the researchers got too close), they’re protecting something very important, but that something could be anything, it could be the cult, the prince, or something else entirely that’s related to one or both of the former(a ritual site? Would explain why the harvesters would want to go there) Singularities: they’ve no connection to the prince besides possibly being a creation of his, it can’t be the prince or a bubble enveloping the prince as both are debunked by the mere mention that there’s more than one but the exact number is redacted, and that examination of one showed that it was minerals all the way through, so there’s no telling what exactly they are or what their purpose is until we get more lore about them, but can be deduced is that they’re not of flesh, but one should assume they are VERY important as their species name, verum carnis, translates to “the truth of the flesh”, so the singularity, despite being not of flesh, may be VERY important to the lore of the vita carnis genus After translating all their Latin names, they’re as follows Crawl=to climb the flesh Trimming=cowardly of the flesh Snake=to borrow flesh Harvesters=gathered together of the flesh Mimic=slaughter of the flesh Host=dominion of the flesh Monolith=the heaven of the flesh And finally Singularity=the truth of the flesh For most of them, their Latin names describe a trait of them, crawl climbs up the sides of structures, trimmings are pathetically weak and so run from danger, the snakes assimilate flesh and bone into their own mass, harvesters are GATHERING onto a single location while GATHERING the flesh of large animals into their own mass, mimics slaughter their prey, hosts take control of their prey, and monoliths are powerful enough to be seen as divine and possibly are objects of worship for the cult So for the singularity to be named the truth of the flesh means some hefty lore is about to drop about them

The storybook lore implies that the majority of the meat creatures could "technically" be originated from Earth. At least in so far as the giant meat snake creature referred to as "The Prince" only created them because humans asked it to. Alternatively all of the meat creatures except "The Prince" were born on Earth. Making them all "from Earth" in the same way someone born in the US is from America even if their parents are immigrants.
