A lot of nursing influencers have moved to School nursing if it’s something you want to consider! They’ve been mentioning how they prefer the schedule and breaks they get whenever the kids are out of school🥹

I worked in the NICU and transitioned to same day surgery for the same reasons you are describing. The NICU was just too much, very stressful. Same day is more structured and its amazing not working nights, weekends, or holidays. The only downside is that I had to take a pay cut, but for my sanity it was 100% worth it.

Structured scheduling is a must for me. I work 4x10 shifts with weekends off. I train patients how to do peritoneal dialysis which is a home dialysis therapy. I love teaching patients. I did bedside for a while but I fell in love with patient teaching. I have a total work life balance.

I have a friend who works at a skin cancer Mohs surgery center and she loves it. It’s basically just more complicated skin cancer surgery removals, very low stress and normal hours!

I left bedside to work remote for a health tech company! I talk to doctors, nurse practitioners, and office managers about the software they are currently using for charting, etc and give them info on my company’s stuff and get to know their business and goals. You have sm options!!

Would love to hear what other jobs your dancing friends have! So interesting haha Also, I am so jealous you have the dancing opportunity. I LOVE to dance but there's no adult studios where I live and I would love to do something like just a couple of times a week for fun / exercise but it doesn't exist here :(

Some of them work regular 9 to 5s, some teach at dance studios, a couple are nurses, personal trainers, bartenders, or still in college etc! And yess I know that feeling I missed dancing so much! You should take weekend trips to cities nearby that might have them☺️ also I think some people might do online classes!

I worked at an outpatient surgery center (in the OR) and it is a fun busy. You can do Preop, OR, or PACU. You get adult and kid experience. Not the commitment of bedside nursing. 7a-3p, no weekends, holidays, or call. I recommend if looking for something different in clinical setting.

Hi Leighton 💕🎀 We are the same age, both nurses and pretty much both in the same situation. I am prn in the ER and needless to say it can be so stressful and inconsistent. I am looking to getting into school nursing and I feel like you would like that! No weekends or holidays, roughly 8-3 daily. I am currently getting my certification online for it 💕 good luck

Hey Leighton! I am currently working on my associate degree in nursing. I just started school in August. I want to be a NICU nurse. My question to you is, what advice would you give to a student such as myself starting their journey.

Hi, nicu nurse here as well!! I was an Lpn for 3 years and just got my RN in July. I know you didn’t ask me, but just know that I was exactly where you were a year ago and it’s worth it!! It will be an emotional roller coaster but just know that school will prepare you for the real world! Of course you won’t know everything because nobody does but do NOT give up on yourself and your dreams! ✨ You are more capable than you think!

Hi!! That’s awesome that you know what you want to do💛 Don’t give up on that! Something you could look into is different NICU nurse extern positions in your area! I was not one, but we hire a lot at my hospital and a lot of those students end up working there when they graduate. Definitely not necessary but could be a great way to get your foot in the door and make connections! Other than that I’d say just focus on getting through nursing school and apply to all the NICU positions once it’s time. And know that you will learn everything on the job so it’s ok to feel clueless at first!😊

Can you explain what PRN means? Thank you 🙌
@LeightonSanders
@LeightonSanders 7 ай бұрын
It basically means “as needed”! So the minimum requirement at most hospitals is around 2 shifts a month (once a pay period) and then you can pick up shifts where help is needed💕
