Those look like thoughtful and fun presents. I can’t believe someone tried to shame you for limiting spending on material things for Christmas, when clearly their main gift is the experience they’ll get travelling and spending quality time with you. Some people are very disappointing 😊

Yes that’s what I think, they really don’t need so much stuff they spend most of their time at school or out 😁 different if I didn’t give them pocket money through the year but the definitely don’t go without 😂 xx

Experiences are always better and more memorable. I went to Queensland for my 13 birthday. I always remember that, but I never remember what presents I got for any birthday or Christmas unless it was memorable like my personalised number plates for my 18th. Toys are short-lived and often forgotten about by the next week or day.

I think what ever parents choose to spend or not spend on Christmas presents for their kids is up to them. A holiday over stuff to kids sounds more exciting and memories will last longer. I think it also makes kids appreciate what they get. Have a great holiday x

Getting children less is such a great thing to do, helps them to appreciate what they have. It’s nice to have a stripped back Christmas with less consumerism. My son is into Pokemon too…I’ve spent a fortune on those cards over the years!

Yes absolutely and I’m lucky they’re good kiddos. I do talk to them about stuff too, like explaining it’s holiday OR presents and they totally get it 🙂🙂🙂 xx

My daughter and I decided that our Disney World trip in November was going to be our Christmas present. Though we have been many times this year was a disaster- Disney raised the prices on food, rides, etc 3 times in the month before going; my daughter had minor surgery on her lungs; and the weather was bad with records broken for heat and humidity not to mention a hurricane closing in (we got out 2 hours before the airports were shut down). Needless to say we protested the prices by not spending at the parks and brought our carefully budgeted (with sinking fund envelopes) money home. Medically she is still having issues so there are more presents under the tree than usual. Not expensive things but books, stationary, and plushies. You did very well for your money and I truly believe in experiences over stuff with the exception of these last challenging months.

Ahh I’m so sorry that’s really sad, I do think it’s terrible when big corporations increase prices so much, I know things are going up but they’re still making profits! Especially when it directly impacts the fun children have. Totally with you on the extra presents this time around, bless her I do hope she improves soon and no doubt she will have an absolutely lovely Christmas 🥰🥰🥰 xx

I’ve just been watching another vlogger that I follow and the amount of excess that people spend at Christmas is appalling! And so much of it is unwanted gifts that end up in landfill. Tonnes and tonnes of it! 🤬Better by far to spend on a small number of things they really want and make memories with them. They’ll forget what you bought them in the fullness of time but they will never forget the memories you made! ❤️

Great haul I think you have done really well. I think my daughter would prefer a holiday to gifts aswell. Her favourite presents have always been days put to musicals etc. Memories are so important and i bet you guys will have an amazing holiday 🥰 xx

You may spend more MONEY on a cleaner but you can’t put a price on love and time you spend with your children ❤ I think you did so well for a £50 budget!

They usually do, I’m still thinking about what to do as we’ll be away. But I’m thinking some chocolates and maybe some of the currency from the country we’ll be in to buy a treat 🙂 x
