Yasmine, I do a job that’s only 1.5 hrs a day 3 days and 2hrs for 2 days. Cleaning offices in the morning. It helps bring in around £300 a month. It might be worth looking for something with very few hours just to top up your income every month.

Have you thought about discontinuing the house cleaner and you and your kids taking care of that? That money could and should go towards your health insurance which is much more important.

Yes absolutely. It’s something I battle with a lot more when I see how much of a big expense it is. I did drop town to once every two weeks but it definitely made me more stressed. It’s tricky as I never have time off from the kids so it seems to never be a good time to get stuff done in the house 😵‍💫 when they’re at school is when I work. But it’s definitely something I’m considering. I think anyone with adhd will tell you how hard it is to keep on top of the housework with adhd 😵‍💫 I wish it wasn’t x

Hello! I've been recently following your budget journey so thank you for sharing, it's never going to be easy putting something quite personal like money (and debt) on a public platform but I'm sure you help a lot of folks put things into perspective, like being realistic about spending money, juggling the reality of having children who grow so quickly, etc. My husband is self employed and money is sometimes erratic so budgeting is hard! But his mental health and presence as a dad to our two kids has been totally worth it so you are absolutely justified in your decision to remain self employed as you are a full grown adult. I personally went back to work a year ago but only 3 hours per day which has helped us have a little stability with our finances. I can't think of anything in your budget that i personally consider a luxury except for the cleaner but i don't know your reasons for having one (my friend has recently been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder and gets huge relief from getting all her laundry done through a company which is like paying for therapy for her). Good luck with your budget for this month!

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to write such a lovely and considerate message. Yes I totally get you, as a single mum, with very little support, I was close to breaking point with my full time job meaning I struggled to be at assemblies etc. It was at a time when the kids dad suddenly exited their lives, and so I felt it all the more important to be there -as you say, its not always simple money wise, but I'm just about making it work. regarding the cleaner, as you say, so many people benefit so much from that support, and yes I have ADHD and generalised Anxiety disorder and its such a battle as I can't operate when its messy but also freeze when I feel overwhelmed with the house work rather than being able to just get it done. Time is limited too, my cleaner has been a god send and with me for 11 years :) xx

aaand this is not the best and healthiest advice, but we used to make sourdough pizzas but it's still all on me and it CAN be cheap, but sometimes it's also about just getting a break from making 3 meals a day, right?... so, when money is tight lately, I've actually made a point of having a 'movie night and pizza', and honestly, I've got the kids the cheapest frozen pizza's in Asda and said they can have up to a £2 sweet allowance each for after... and once we're actually eating and sharing the pizza's and they require no effort, watching a film and cosying up on a Saturday night - it's started to become as rewarding as 'eating out', if not more... as now when we do go out, the cost just makes me ick lol. And the kids look forward to movie night within these 'rules' now, only one or twice a month... and not necessarily something I'd recommend (for health and parent-award reasons) but just being honest in this season haha xx

Ah you got this! I’m going to do as much as I can on Vinted, and apply for marker research and mystery shopping. Are you in the UK? I’ve had success with Podengo and Make Research Pay if you’re looking to pick up some extra pounds 🫶🏻 we got this xxx

This is so interesting. I am 55 and our mortgage almost paid off; believe me we have been broke so many times. Is interesting to see how people budget. We are by no means rich but are doing ok. Xxxxx.

Hiya :) thanks for watching! I suppose it could, but most of the time I do tent do order things in bulk and separately for that, so I do a big toilet paper order and buy cleaning products when they're on offer like buy 2 get one free xx

If you are struggling financially due to monthly income, would it benefit you and your family to go back to working for someone besides yourself? When you are responsible for others sometimes you have to do what is right for the family instead of following your dreams at least for the near future.

Bless you for saying your gonna go and get extra work, but before squeezing what looks like an already tight budget I would use your savings, did you say you had money in a loft conversion fund? I would use that & pay for your little lads teeth & bills extra just to float instead of going into debt? Maybe pay your debt off with it too if it’s enough, especially as now you have your dream job you don’t want to go back, good luck what ever you do good for you xx🧡🤎🤍

Awe thanks lovely - well, the savings went already, I had 5 months with no income and had to use all my savings before I was entitled to UC (which i then claimed for 2 months) but I can't survive on UC as dont get the housing element so was only getting £850 so ended up back in debt... but, and I know my budget looks bleak, I am definitely starting to see things shift a little :) confident it'll work out xx
