This "Gakku" festival took place in September 2017 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. It is said that the city center was paralyzed on the day of the concert. More than 150,000 spectators gathered in the central square of the city. Many came then only because of Dimash. Dimash performed at the end of the concert and sang 5 songs. It was evident that Dimash was relaxed on stage because the competition in China was behind him. The festival is not a competition, and Dimash was HOME, among his countrymen and DEARS. In the song "Unforgettable Day" he took a chance and sang D8. And before the D8 he was waving his microphone, but we didn't hear the sound. I think it was some ultra-sound that only animals hear, and people don't hear. It is said that Dimash sang D8 - "the whistling of the dolphin" and it was the longest sound of this high note. In the history of modern singing performance, the longest sound of this note. There are singers who take this high note, but for so long to keep it no one can.
@JaceFincham
@JaceFincham 3 жыл бұрын
I don't think what was before the D8 was some ultra-sound note. Many people say he was going for a G#7 and the note just didn't come out (because of how ridiculously hard it is to make pitches that high), so he instead went for the D8 afterwards and hit it.

Bear in mind when most people say Dimash is the best singer in the world, they are not just talking about best technique or his range because yes, of course we know that singing is more than just technique but the thing is those other areas is also where Dimash brings a lot to the table. He is intensely passionate, expressive and emotive as a performer (please watch a few more of his performances and you will know what I mean), he gives every inch of his body and soul and that level of commitment adds to the experience of watching him perform. So, yes, I agree with you that good singing is more than good technique , but I think it is an understandable thing for some people to call him best singer when he literally brings not just best technique and the most versatility and range but also his passionate delivery, so the whole package of him as a singer is what is impressive and what makes some people call him best singer. Just like someone calling Meryl Streep or Cate Blanchett best actress in the world, it is a fair (and subjective) assessment of what they believe is best above others. So in that sense there is such a thing as best singer but like any other art medium it is never universally unanimous, and it just happens to be subjective is all (so to that person he may very well be the “best singer” in the subjective sense), whereas his technical expertise/virtuoso is *objectively* the best in the world . ..... And in my subjective view he is the overall best vocalist/singer. (And he doesn’t even sing in my favourite genres , lol, but yet despite that to me he is still hands down the best vocalist alive today for many reasons other than just technical expertise.) On another note he composed this song when he was basically a teenager (he was 18) many years ago. Then a few years later he collaborated with a lyricist (Oral Baissengir) to write the lyrics and then the song was released in 2015. He actually recently got his Master’s Degree in Composition (He already had other degrees in classical/pop/jazz singing). Great example of how hardworking he is and how he constantly wants to improve himself even more than he already is which is incredible in itself. Kudos to him for that level of commitment and inspiring others to also do more and be better and to never stop. ..... Please react to (if you haven’t already) “Love is Like a Dream” and “Passione” next. Thanks.

My DEAR JOHN!........THANKS for your reactions to Dimash!!!! Dimash is in his own class, there’s good singers there’s great singers and then there’s Dimash. Actually almost a 7 octaves range. From barítono to soprano. E1 Growling E2 lowest chest A1 lowest vocal fry C6 highest mix F#6 highest head D8 highest whistle Which is 6 octaves and 5 semitones. In growl , He can go down to a E1. 6 octaves and 8 semitones. Tenors don’t usually sing in the lower half of the 2nd octave.... which He smashes :D To put that in comparison: He sings lower than bass in Opera. The lowest note is usually D2....and higher longer sustained whistle note. Total Dimash range is E1-D8.......greetings from a Mexican Dear!.....❤️🇲🇽🇰🇿

Dimash is the best singer in the WORLD and there are no doubts about that, his voice is a prodigy of nature and a genetic marvel since his parents are two glories of singing from Kazakhstan since he was 5 years old, he sings publicly and has more than twenty years of lyrical training and graduated from the university of music, he is a singer, composer, arranger and multi instrumentalist, he plays more than seven musical instruments and sings in more than seven languages, he is also a great performer and a great artist who lives and feels music He is not an imitator of voices like "Marcelito", Dimash has his own style and is the creator of the "Popera" he also has a very pleasant, humble and simple personality, easy access, which makes it very easy to follow, he always travels with His family and friends is a very educated person and an example to follow, he has become known for his musical talent not for getting into trouble or scandals, he is a singer with a wide vocal range very versatile is Baritone, Tenor, Sopra no, against Tenor, mezasoprano, everything at the same time is how to have 5 singers in one, it has a male and female voice, also many resources such as vibrato, "melismas", falsetto, whistle tone, reaching a D8 live at the concert of Gakku in an unforgettable day, at his young age he continues to improve and grow musically to perfection, he has a good physical presence he measures 191 cm or 6 "3", he is very famous and recognized in Asia and now he is becoming known In Europe and America, ALL their songs are spectacular, it always goes from low to high, soft to spectacular at the end, in my almost half a century of life I never heard so much quality and it is the hope of continuity of the classical genre because all the old tenors have already Almost all of them died and Dimash can sing like them but none of them can sing like Dimash, being a Man he sings better than any Tenor and his female voice is superior to that of any average Soprano, greetings and a hug from Venezuela ❤️

I tend to agree with John about the best singer in the world. Thing is that some singers have maybe 2-2.5 octave range but a song is not only about ranges. It is about lyrics, a story behind, emotions, etc. Think about e.g. "Piece by piece" by Kelly Clarkson or "I'll get by" or "Change on the Rise" by Avi Kaplan. Two different songs (and one can find plethora of similar examples), two different singers. None of them sang somehow extremely high, right? And I still love these songs more than the one done here by Dimash. And not that I don't appreciate Dimash's capability...

Thanks, John, for coming back to Dimash. It's been a minute. If I had the opportunity to request an in-depth analysis of Dimash's vocals from someone with your credentials, it wouldn't be for this song. "Unforgettable Day" is a fan favorite (for mostly sentimental reasons), and this version is the most requested primarily because of the one insane D8 whistle note. But, for me, Dimash has dozens of songs and live performances that offer much better opportunities for professional vocal analysis than "Unforgettable Day" does. I appreciate your expertise in bringing this to us, and I hope you'll return with a future Dimash analysis to a more vocally complex song. Thanks again, it's good to see you back 🌹

John, when Dimash was a teen, he got a lot of grief from other musicians and vocal judges for "screaming." I suspect in their minds, he was lacking the "good sense" to not belt on those--at the time--super high, tenor, piercing notes, although if you go back and listen, they were quite good even then. What we are seeing in this 2017 video is the beauty of the fully developed, mature, well-polished artist voice. He has learned just how far to take it, and he relieves the piercing sound with a bit more resonance, with vibrato, with whatever tool suits his vision. It's a thing of beauty, and my takeaway is that as an adult, there is so much room to encourage, support, and when it is appropriate, help others be their best selves. Thank you for doing that for singers!! I'm grateful! I'd love to see you post videos of your students learning with you, if they are willing.

Dimash set a record here for the highest note ever sung in a live concert, during this live performance in 2017. It is his now-famous D8. He did this in front of approximately 150,000 fans in attendance. The song is called “Unforgettable Day”, a song Dimash wrote himself. During the performance, he made certain to erases any doubt that this was indeed anything other than a true live performance. Dimash not only hit a D8; he did a glissando and held it for ~5 seconds, even adding vibrato to it. The Guinness Book of Records lists the highest note ever produced by a male as an E8. That was done in a studio, where the singer was just trying to hit the note. He held the note briefly after a proper warm-up and several attempts. Dimash has sung many whistle notes in the 7th & 8th octave in other live performances, but the above is his highest note to date. Because of his incredible range, over six octaves, and his vocal flexibility, he is able to make the impossible look easy. Dimash is not only considered by many to be the best singer in the world, but he is truly on another level. His voice seems limitless, and no matter how many performances of his you watch he will always surprise you with something new. Dimash is also a genuinely good person with a beautiful soul. Dimash and his father quietly donated all the profits from the 2017 concert to a local Hospital and an Old Age People's Home. Dimash has also donated over 5 tons of food to people in need during the Coronavirus Pandemic without any fanfare. It is only when the media gets a hold of the story that Dimash is forced into the spotlight.

If you haven’t seen him sing The Show Must Go On by Queen you should check it out. It shows off his rock singing abilities and he does some great distortion in one of the sections. It’s the only time I can recall hearing him use distortion in his voice but he sounds like a pro doing it.

Thank you 🙏🏼 Please can you react to Dimash ‘Olimpico/Ogni Pietra’ (the best version is on Igor Krutoy’s KZfaq channel - he is the composer) as this song won Dimash the most prestigious award in Russia for classical singing (the first non Russian to do so). Plymouth UK 🇬🇧

He hit a C8 and slid to a D8 for 5 seconds. As for ur statement at the end. He can growl and distort his notes. If u watch the Song „know“ the vocalize version u can see him growl and in a queen medley with the „super vocal boys“ he did distortion at some part. yes he doesn’t do them often:) but he can
