Purchased 2006 Volvo V5 T5 AWD 18,000Km or 12,000 miles. Volvo was written off and offered at auction. A guy bought it and fixed after was offered for sale. I bought this Volvo to replace my high milage Suzuki Sx4.

I've owned a few Volvo wagons over the years and that 2.5 turbo is a great engine. It probably makes that V50 into a lively vehicle. My V60 has the same motor and I love it.

Congrats! Do not mind the remarks below about shitty quality; have had this car for 9 years (2.4i V50) without any significant problems. Especially with this low mileage it's perfect. Temperature-sensor problem is most likely the cable harness in the door or car body. Simply fix this by soldering the wires and the problem is resolved. Check for a whistling sound when the engine is running. When you remove the oil cap (with the engine still running) and the whistling stops, most probably your oil filter membrane / housing is broken. This is the most common problem with this engines. For the rest, it's perfect. I wish you very much fun and drive saving!

The V50 is based upon the Ford Focus Estate, if you need wheels you can take one that fits a Focus. Headlight washers fail often and can be replaced, so are the caps. Gas mileage on the V50 T5 AWD is horrible but you will love the power and sound. Congratulations on this purchase!

My daughter took our 2011 SX4. My V50 is a 2008 2.4i. Paid about USD7500 and came with Thule roof-rack. No bluetooth but has AUX port in the center console. Actually I chickened out from 2.0T5 AWD. Turbo is ok but AWD gives me some worries. Everything works the way it should except for the 12V power socket which cost me a $2 15A fused. I have put a $9 bluetooth modulator and it's like a later model. Mine came with 17" alloy (I think it's a V40) rims and has 225/45 ZR17 Conti. Had to replace front tires to Goodyear (Conti are $15 more a piece 😂). A little noisy but that's ok. Insulation is not as what I expected but it is a lot better than my Toyota Hilux pickup.

@@diegolemus4189 sorry for the late response. Unfortunately my S60 does not have tire pressure monitor sensors. My advice would be to scan the car to get more details on the TPMS light. Maybe it's just a stored code. About the keyless start, I haven't seen yet someone retrofit that. I think it can be done. The problem is the programming which for Volvos is a bit limited, as you know. The stock PSI for the turbo I don't know. I've searched for that on forums but with no luck. I think is about 11-12psi.

I just recently bought a Volvo V50 with the 2.0 Diesel Engine and around 220.000 KM on it as my first car, still runs perfectly. What I noticed when you showed the front was that the front grille actualy belongs to the S40, The V50 usualy has an all Chrome front grille(or at least another pattern for the black)... at least in Europe but I dont know if its different in the US. What I also found strange was that you said you dont have an AUX connection. From the Premium Sound trim and upwards the radio should have an AUX input just behind the "Waterfall" Console on the passenger side somewhere on the "ground". With ground I mean where the rubber pad behind the console is. I Dont know where exactly because I sadly have the regular Sound System, but when I've done research for the car I read that several time. You should Check that. Other than that: Awesome find! :)
@volvosweden4 жыл бұрын
Will look behind the console for that AUX Thx
@leroysunset4 жыл бұрын
@@volvosweden It's on 06, no AUX offered. I have an 06 V50 T5 FWD myself. The only thing you can do is 1) add a GROM that overrides the CD player via an optical splitter or 2) get lucky and wire an AUX cord into the amp in the rear of the car if you happen to have the right kind of amp. There is a thread somewhere on Swedespeed with all of this info. Congrats on the car. You're in for a ride - P1 Volvos are weird but fun. I love mine.

If you plan to keep this car a long time and drive it in winters, get it on a lift and paint all metal parts with a clear flexible coating like fluidfilm or such. And I mean parts like subframes, suspension arms, brake backplates, brake linea, shock housings etc. The underbody itself is pretty rustproof, but all the bolt-on metal parts that are painted black easily rust. You can even paint the calipers with a clear coat to keep them silver instead of going brown/black. Then your car will look good on the underside for years, even if it's parked outside.

Five cyl is a great motor. Good buy. Very little damage and the insurance companies will total the car. this is not fair to owner as this was a low mileage car. Mileage and condition determines the value of a used car, not the age so this former owner was probably screwed. Look for damage in the air conditioning system that is placed around the radiator. I know from previous experience. Damage appeared later after a minor front end collision. Good luck. You are an expert .
