I swear, you and I have some sort of psychic connection or something; I was just working on my door today to poke at a busted window regulator! LOL I like that hard-backed inner panel/vapor barrier piece. Seems much better than the brittle closed-cell molded foam used in the earlier VWs. Nice sound system, too! Whoever did that install did a REALLY good job! (yes, I do car audio, too...)

+rhkips The metal panels are great... the worst are the plastic barriers, they always tear when I try to remove them.

I have a 2004 NBC that the passenger side window won't drop when the handle is pulled or roll up when the door is shut. The dome lights and the door panel light do not come on when this door is opened as well. I'm assuming this is related to the micro switch inside the lock module, and will be replacing the module soon. Your video looks like it will be very helpful for me. It appears that unlike the sedan, the NBC inner door panel (stamped steel one) does not have the regulator assembly attached to it? Also, do you know how many turns it takes to loosen the torx screw so that the lock cylinder can be removed? Thanks!

Yes, most likely a lock actuator issue. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mqp7ZNSKrtfcpZ8.html To remove the cylinder, loosen the screw a few turns and then push it in.

I am about to do this on my bug both doors are faulty when that's done ill be doing rear doors on my touran

Yes, I think it's still the same / similar for the 2008 model.

doesn't the metal plate usually have black sealant on it? I've took a couple off and they've all had black sealant on

Could be... I've never seen it on Jetta's & Golf's, just the spongy grey seal that's on the back of the panel.

could be grey then.. I no there's defo sealant on the back me thinks.. my driver and passenger floors are wet even the rear footwells are wet.. can't figure out where the water is coming in.. defo isn't the scruttle pannel

From a hardware store... I also have non painted bits of the same length that I got from Home Depot.

I thought they were the same, but was told that they are indeed different locks. I ordered a set of passenger and drivers side today, using the correct model number on the parts: SET-REPV469501, from carparts DOT com. I was told they guarantee a fit for a 2005 VW Beetle convertible, 1.8L turbo. Price was incredibly inexpensive, with a year warranty. Worth a try. They should be coming in by the first of February, 2021. Did you find some in the year that has passed?

speaker could have stayed in place just needed to make enough room to get to it from the upper left hand side of plastic door cover to get your hand in there

If it's the same as on a mk5, yes... if the outer panel does not come off, then I don't think so. I can look up the info in the service manual after work tonight.

3VW1K7AJ that's the first 8 digit. And it's for the driver's door.

Watch this for now... it's an old video (not the greatest): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gt18eMiXyLC1oGw.html I'll get some info for you later. To remove the key cylinder, use a T20 Torx... do not loosen more than 13 turns (unless you have to) to remove the cylinder.

Hi Bill... I'm used to seeing it on the plastic vapor barriers, this is the first time I've seen it on a newer vehicle. I'm still thinking that someone's been in here before (not just for the speaker)... the main thing is that the new door lock actuator solved the all-too-common non-responsive actuator (when using the remote) issue. :)
