VW Arteon 4Motion R-Line/Genting With Erik Winter, Again!/

If you remember the last time I took the VW Arteon up to Genting with Erik Winter, the CEO of VPCM (Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia), it was in the 190 PS FWD Arteon. I said that I hoped VW would bring in the more powerful 280PS Arteon 4Motion. And my wish came through - they sent the car to me during the RMCO when we were not allowed out of the 10 km radius of our homes - I did a short test then, and you can watch the video on our channel.
Now that the restrictions have been removed, we are able to take it up our favorite test drive route again, and this time we go all the way up to the top.

The Arteon 4Motion R Line is certainly the best bang per buck for a D-segment Sedan, with its large size, excellent looks, powerful engine, AWD and of course that sure-footed 'stuck-to-the-road handling. SST exemption is extended to end June 2022, and the price of RM247k is really attractive.

I test drove the car a while back. Still cannot believe this car climbed a steep hill with 5th gear at 2000 rpm. So powerful.

Im sure Malaysia is the best selling market for VW in South East Asia and also this is the best motoring channel in South East Asia. So I think if we ask for them to bring the Tiguan R and the Arteon R, for sure they will listen 😊🤞😆

And also, with the digital speedometer, we could peep at the fantastic speeds you drove and took the corners, and all these confirmed by the little time you took to reach the top. Damn, I am addicted to the engine sound & the generous Horn. I just did a little bit of research, if I have this budget, this would definitely be my first option, rather than Benz / BMW. I prefer big size sedan + strong powerful car. Plus, this car is affordable then other same luxury cars in the market. However, I not sure the maintenance & how durable for this car.

The deep rumble (not too loud) of the exhaust is surprisingly good and suite this car well. The run was so exciting and this is the highest speed that I saw Uncle Khong to drive in the Genting Run. Really enjoyable! #181km/h

The car is extremely planted and grippy as expected but it is also pliant and composed even sportiest setting. I see both of them shaking a bit but I'm sure if in Comfort mode the car will be fully pliant.

Please send my regards and my request. Ask him bring to VW arteon shooting brake and arteon saloon other specs too pls. For Malaysia Market we have 1 arteon specs only. Other countries get many specs. Its really really disappointing. Even proton and perodua can offer with different specs. Why not VOLKSWAGEN do so.

I just drove this car. It drove very steadily. It has a strong back feeling when accelerating rapidly. The chassis is very solid and the brakes feel good. I think the price/performance ratio is much better than that of the 330I and C300. A car worth owning. This is the best car I have tried

Perhaps Arteon can remain on the malaysia market for the next 1 years with Lv2 safety features, but I saw some articles stating it will be discontinued. I'm hoping to obtain it from Uncle at that time.

If I was driving this car, probably risk crashing at some of the tight corners. I mean YS was taking corners at 80 km/h and I would probably only be at 20 km/h in a perodua! I was feeling rather intense just viewing the drive on my tiny mobile screen. If you watch on big screen sure screem lah! Exciting car. I think awd maintenance will be costly.

Considering for a year, I saw the car again today and ordered the car again. It was silver. It was so beautiful. It was amazing. The price-performance ratio definitely exceeds that of BMW and Mercedes-Benz cars at the same price or even higher price. 4-wheel drive, 280 horsepower, 350 New meters. The massage seat, 700W12 HARMAN CARTON horns, the size and shape of the car are very generous and decent. Beautiful and sexy. There are many reductions in BMW and Mercedes-Benz, and the price/performance ratio is not high. So finally gave up. After a test drive of ARTEON, the site is very solid and can run through small potholes like a tank, very quiet and stable. It weighs 1.7 tons. Push back feeling, full of horsepower. Running long distances is super stable. There are discounts for buying now, which is super suitable. Looking forward to getting the new car soon. marvelous

@@johnbucis5844 Congratulations friend. I have had it for 11 months. So far no issues other than the occasional slight noise. Sometimes with 97 gasoline, sometimes with 95 gasoline. The overall feeling is very good. Prefer to drive long distance. Really not tired. Quiet. Enjoyed listening to music all the way. I bought this car and love its power and sound system. Very satisfied so far.

Bought this car 3 months ago. Really enjoyed the driving. The only thing I don't like is that it shifts up automatically even in manual mode. But hell yeah, the driving is way better than 3 series and C class for its price. Highly recommended!

A lot of the new cars will shift up; principally to save the engine and gearbox. Anyway when it is time, it should shift up. In Sports mode it should shift up at red line, and not before.

When BMW and Benz arrived in Malaysia, they reduced their configuration, losing their due value and my interest in buying them. The configuration of Volkswagen's real materials is absolutely excellent value for money! Smart people should buy the public. Life always has to drive a German car.

Great drive Uncle YS! In terms of handling, how does the Arteon perform compared to GR Yaris?

The GR Yaris, being lighter and with stiffer suspension, made for competition, and a manual, is a more engaging druve, as you can see from the two videos. You can also see the Aryeon is a larger sedan that can do a lot of things the GR Yaris cannot, just as the GR Yaris can do a lot of things the Aryeon cannot. They are two different cars, and cannot be compared by just pure performance.

Soundaktor @ VW term for artificial engine sound piped in to the speakers. There is an option for you to switch it off. Choose Individual driving profile and off engine sound.

Because it is not imported by VPCM. Importing a car is not as easy as it appears to be. A car maker has to ensure there is enough service and parts support.

Of course the sedan will be better, lower CG. And the Arteon has 280 PS, and is lighter than the Tiguan. No contest.

@@YSKhongDriving Small correction : Arteon is heavier than Tiguan. Tiguan 1680 kg (based on carbase). Arteon 1720 (based on WapCar estimate ; actual one won't lari much).

What driving mode were you on during the climb? You mentioned you were driving in manual but I don't remember seeing anything on the driving profile used. I ask cause you mentioned something about understeer and wanted to know if that was the case in any of the other driving profiles like race & individual (if configured). Also do you know if the power distribution changes between front and rear bias between driving profiles like sport, race and individual?

I bought the ARTEON R LINE 4MOTION. I am going back to China for 5 months. How can I deal with the battery loss when I don’t drive for 5 months. Some people say to remove the negative pole, and some say to remove the negative pole of the battery first and then the positive pole of the battery. Excuse me. Which one is correct.
