This video is about three iconic FWD hillclimb cars that race in the E1 2000cc class (a category for special modified cars with a displacement under 2.0-litre). They all have been built and refined by the German company Minichberger Motorsport which has specialized in these hillclimb monsters over the years. The cars you see in this video are Egidio Pisano's Volkswagen Golf Mk1, Thomas Strasser's VW Scirocco Mk1 and the beautiful widebody Corrado R of Hans-Peter Eller.
All these cars have similar engine specs, all derived from the 2.0-litre 16v Audi A4 Touring car block but subsequently tuned by Minichberger (max power of these cars is between 300 and 320 hp), 6-speed sequential gearbox and a weight in the 800kg range. Listen to them screaming up to 9,000/9,500 rpm in action on the Gubbio hillclimb course, in Italy, during the 2018 FIA Hillclimb Masters race!
