Pygmy cories are insanely hardy fish. Survived a bacterial bloom, ph shift, low oxygen, etc. Never knew they were so resilient especially being a corydoras species.

I hear people keep saying "get at least 6" but in my experience their natural behaviour starts from a group of about 10. When they are in a bigger group they really thrive and come to the front of the tank, swimming in a school together. Magical to watch! My cory's don't hunt the baby shrimp, but to be fair, I spoil them with all kinds of live and frozen foods so they don't really need to ;).

Over the past year-and-a-half of the aquarium hobby and watching KZfaq. I haven't got to see a lot of fish firsthand, only in video... Last week I received a wonderful box from my friends at Foxie's Fishes and Peplin Creek Aquatics... They sent me Pygmy Cory's. Talk about a little fish that was love at first sight!! Not only are they adorable I love the way they swim almost like a regular "middle of the water column" fish ❤️😁😎 They also sent me cpd's, Daisy rice fish, Guppies and some mystery snails for some tank mates and everyone is doing so well and has made a beautiful community tank in a heavily planted Aquarium ❤️ Thank you so much for this video at the perfect time for me!! Super cool 😎 I hope you all are having an amazing weekend!! Thanks for sharing 🙏🌿🐟🌿💚

We have 5 of their cousins (Corydora Habrosus) in a heavily planted 10 gal. and we love them. Originally had 6 but one decided he wanted to see the outside world. Needless to say not a good outcome. Their tankmates are 3 Platy's, a Kuhli Loach (Mr. Whiskers), a Bumblebee Goby (Bee), A Mystery Snail (Sno) and a Japanese Trapdoor Snail (Skye). We feed them (in addition to foods mentioned) Repashy Bottom feeders and cut up Tubifex worms. Watching them play follow the leader across the tank is especially fun. All in all one of our favorite fish.

My experience with my pygmy cories...They are a pretty hardy fish. I purchase wild caught. Some are a little rough looking but are troopers. I even had one with one eye. (One eyed Jack) It takes a while for them to settle in. Almost a year for them to be completely comfortable. They would scatter when I would approach the tank. Eventually, my F0s did have F1s but none survived. Another season came & went. They had more babies. Only one survived. I've noticed it's when the seasons change from summer to fall & she does not lay large batches of eggs. I never have seen the eggs but it's only a handful of fry. They are very difficult to see, about the size of grain of rice & blend very well with substrate. (pool sand) As for Bettas, I've had one male in with them that started out 'very sweet' and then turned into a monster, food aggressive. I did not keep him with them. I was afraid he was stressing them. I tried another Betta & he shows very little aggression. He'll even swim with them at times. As for shrimp, I do not recommend it if one is trying to build a colony. I just purchased RCS, waited 'patiently' for a month for the babies & only 3 were smart enough or lucky enough to survive. Pulled all the shrimps out. I have a twenty long pretty much dedicated to the little ones. I enjoy them & will be purchasing more. Due to them being wild caught the lifespan is shorter. It's difficult finding them at LFS so, I do unfortunately have to have them shipped. Aquabid is my main source but have purchased them on Ebay.

Fantastic that you're doing a video on these fellas! I just got half a dozen for my 14 gallon cube aquarium with my betta the other day and they seem to LOVE it! There haven't been any issues so far, Cosmo hasn't even noticed them, but there was an issue with the LFS itself... they didn't have enough in stock, I got the last six! And they were all different sizes and ages (though all still pygmies, just, some were adults) so there's like two adults, two half-grown ones and two juveniles... doesn't seem to be an issue so far and they're schooling fine, didn't seem to upset them in quarantine either... but do you forsee any issues down the road?

Corydoras are my favorite aquarium fish, I have 35 total but spread out over 9 different species types. My 55 gallon community tank has 5 orange venezuelan and 8 black venezuelan Corydoras with some kuhli loaches.. this tank I'm learning that Corydoras love to lay eggs in the current, the in tank filter I set up to run the length of the tank to try and simulate a river type of flow through the tank. It was a style I watched my dad use on his tanks growing up, instead of the hang on back, try hanging it on the side if you have long tank, it creates a more natural circular flow pattern in the tank in my opinion and experience doing it... my 40 gallon Cory tank is my experiment tank, where I have a bunch mixed together, sterbai, false Julie, skunk, panda, similus, leucomelas ( black fin/ false spotted) all in small groups of 4 to 5, the skunks and panda's had a rough start and are down to 3 each. But overall it's been interesting watching them interacting with each other. I'd compare it to cousins at a picnic.. they all do their own individual things, but every so often they get in mixed groups and act like Corydoras do, dancing and doing their schooling behavior.. they are like little sweepers on sand substrate keeping everything nice and clean looking with all the junk swept into a pile or corner.. I'd highly recommend Corydoras for anyone with a community tank, there's so many different species of them in so many different sizes and colors I guarantee you'll find one of them you will absolutely love to look at...

I have a group of 15 in a 29 gallon, and I'm adding 6 platies after they are done quarantining. Anyway - I never see them eat. I do put some frozen shrimp food in there once in a while. I used to see them on pellets (sucking it off the snails mainly) but that doesn't happen anymore even when offered. Do they eat snail eggs? Would I have enough natural infusoria in my heavily planted tank? They seem very happy lazing around on top of leaves. I have sharper substrate, but they have a ton of smooth, large rocks, driftwood, and plants they can browse on and I never see them even really trying to get down into the substrate itself. I may eventually cap some areas off with black sand later. I'm not worried, since I can see they're happy, just more curious. Thanks!

I have a group of 7 pygmy corydoras in a 10 gallon with a Betta with no issues. They often swim in very close proximity to the Betta with no aggression. With that being said I believe the results will very depending on the Betta. So knowing this I strongly suggest you have an extra cycled or quarantine tank in case you see aggression and need to separate them. Example my other Betta Bugsy cannot be with anything not even a snail.

I have a group of three in my 14 gallon cube with a betta, a clown pleco and a group of Khuli loaches. No problems with this particular betta but I imagine that could be an issue if you have an angry one. In my 75, I learned the hard way that they can not be kept with South American Bumblebee catfish. The little guy I had in there with a mix of different cories was eaten, and then the Bumblebee died as well (I assume due to the spines). *edit Oh, and I have a Siamese Algea Eater in there too after his two brothers/sisters were consumed over night by the remaining group of Bumblebees. @@PrimeTimeAquatics They are when you see them. They're too agro though. Too small for a predator tank and too predatory for a community tank. They were so small and cute, I didn't think they'd be an issue until they were. At least the pygs I have now are out and about. I've seen the Bumblebees fewer times than the fingers on .y left hand in the last 3 or 4 years.

I never see my pygmy cories. I have 8 of them in a moderately planted 10 gallon, they never swim mid water. I do have a few endlers in there with them hoping to bring out their personality, but the corys huddle up under the sponge filter pretty much all the time.

Same problem here. They mostly lie on the ground or on a leaf in my well-planted tank. I keep them in a group of 8 and have had them for 2 years now. The only time they are active is when I feed them and when they're breeding. I had expected them to be more aCtive and more in mid-water. That is what I read about them before buying them. I also added a group boraras Brigittae, but this didn't help.

Add more plants and maybe a cave or tube for them to hide in. Made the difference for me. Keeping them alone rather than with the Celetial Danio also helped. They got very active once they were the only fish in the tank along with shrimp.

Hello my name is Albert and I live in Crown Point Indiana just about 45 minutes south of Chicago. I want to start breeding guppies again so I’m getting 7 ten gallon, 2 twenty gallon, a 55 gallon, and a 75 gallon. The 75 is more for display but I could use it to breed fish. I have bred guppies before and was successful but I failed because I was a young teen at the time. I’m getting back into breeding guppies and I already bought some purple grass guppies. What strains sell well around Chicagoland and what should I breed in the 55 and the 75? Also what strains of guppies and shrimp are wanted around here? I wanna use all the smaller tanks for guppies, shrimp and guppy grass. Also what’s the best place to sell the fish? Thank you and have a great day.

I’m not really sure about specific strains, but generally speaking - dumbo eat guppies and any strain that is uncommon and has nice color. You will get the most money selling online. Swaps and auctions can be ok too.
