When I used to overeat on junk processed animal food very quickly I realised I did not even like it but I kept eating it just to stop the toxic hunger. So I was getting fatter and fatter eating what I di not even like, and I would buy cheaper and cheaper food because frankly I could not afford to buy better quality foods on my budget. I treated my body so badly, I am so glad I've been WFPB now for 3 years and have lost 4 stones

He looks like he needs some extra calories. Add fatty steak a few times a week. Maybe some butter. Animal fat is important.

I followed a 10 day detox plan. Eating Whole Foods, no eggs, no dairy, no wheat. Really cleaned up my choices. I did eat wild caught fish and made a shake with pea protein I between. I feel great. More energy, thinking clearer. Never was hungry, lost 5 lbs and am off coffee. Detoxing really helps. I was skeptical in the beginning.

I'd love to eat more beans and nuts and seeds but as a petite 56 y.o. woman I would put on weight immediately. My body seems to absorb every single calorie! I have to restrict to 1 portion of beans per day and no nuts or avocados and even then I tend to put on weight. I eat WFPB without any oil or added sugar.

Having a couple of walnut haves with each meal will increase absorption of nutrients and will not put on fat weight. You may see a temporary increase in water retention weight due to metabolism of nutrients but this is only temporary. Avocados carry a lot of calories so it is best to choose smaller ones and only eat occasionally say a couple of times a month and eat half an avocado at a time over a two day period.

Admittedly a tad confused on how to lose weight on a plant based diet. I'm plant based for the most part, but have read so many conflicting articles regarding ingesting fat (nuts and seeds) on a plant based diet. People like Chef AJ say absolutely no added fat (including no nuts and seeds), oil, sugar (duh, sugar is a no brainer :) ) if you're going to go higher carb, which is inherent when you're eating lots of yummy vegetables, potatoes, beans, etc. I've heard from other sources too, that nuts and seeds, even in small quantities could spell weight gain for some. But you, Dr. Fuhrman say it's ok? I just don't want to gain weight and want to be as healthy as possible :) Could you please provide some clarity? And by the way, it was Eat To Live that first got me thinking I could enjoy and thrive on a plant based diet, so thank you so much! Thank you for all that you do! EDIT: After just a tad more research, my first issue might be being plant based "for the most part" lol.

If you were on a Whole Foods plant based diet - with no to low processed foods and were always coming under you calorie deficit - even eating 200 calories of nuts UNDER / Within your calorie deficit will not make you gain wait. Hope this helps.

Chef AJ said people that still have excess weight to lose should avoid nuts/seeds but slim people can include some seed/nuts as long as they don't increase their weight. AJ is a good addict and can't moderate nuts and seeds. I understand because I can't either. For us food addicts it is critical to eat no added fat/oil, no added sugar, and no added salt plus foods as close to nature and as least processed as possible and no animal products.

Does organic pumpkin seeds count as a nut or a seeds. Along with other types of nuts and seeds?

If people think... everybody's different, everyone needs different types of foods etc... Well I guess it may be true to some extent but if I cut out a lot of fats I get super super thin and very low energy. I don't want to be very thin and bony, maybe other people do but I don't plus I don't have a lot of energy at that point.

Nutritarian diet is not a low fat diet. It's more low carb than low fat.

Fuhrman is not advocating super low fats. The key is nutrient density. The proportion of carbs/fat/protien is relatively unimportant. If you genuinely have large caloric requirements they can be met with healthy fats.

I started the nutritarian eating lifestyle and I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong but I’m so hungry. I can’t have nuts cause I have cold sores. I am doing seeds, flax, chia seeds, etc…

@@byzantineladybug9471 hai there. I’ve actually added more starch based Whole Foods. Protein around 45-55 grams a day. Not nuts. Lower fat. I feel way better and less hungry. Something bout my body doesn’t enjoy too much protein. I’ve always done high protein low carb for years & never felt well. But yes. Much better now.

@@Destinedmind I’m really glad to hear this! This sounds like a really healthy way to eat and probably what I will do, too. Nuts do not agree with me either. And, although I do not have any kidney issues and my GFR and other kidney blood tests are all normal, as a teenager, I had mild protein in the urine. Because of this, I also keep my protein on the lower side. Thank you for taking the time to respond and I’m glad you are doing better and are feeling better! 🥰👍🥦
