In this video, I'm sharing my story as a refugee. I'll discuss the war in Ukraine, the refugee crisis, and my experiences as a displaced person.
As a refugee, I've seen first-hand how war and privilege can destroy people and families. I hope my story can help raise awareness about the refugee crisis and the need for humanitarian support. If you're interested in learning more about the war in Ukraine, or simply want to hear my story, please watch this video!
Hey there:) I'm excited and nervous to share my personal journey with you in this video. Back in 2014, life was a rollercoaster as my family went from being financially well-off to becoming refugees. It was a wild ride but I believe it is worth sharing.
This video isn't just about hardship; it's a reminder that privilege can exist even in the midst of struggle. I want to shed light on the Ukrainian crisis and show that refugees like me come from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Wow, you’re my son’s age - and still I’m learning from you. You’re right - growing up in a healthy family environment was great for you! My life has been full of challenges, and I overcame so much, but I’m still struggling to recover from the events of 2020-2021. Thanks so much for sharing your story, I’ll never forget

Dear Albina, thanks for sharing your personal story with such honesty! What I found amazing, is how your parents managed to make back their money back relatively quickly again. This tells us that what makes an entrepreneur is not only access to capital, which certainly helps, but it is the mentality and knowledge of how money works. I have met several families with business backgrounds who had lost their wealth (mainly due to revolutions and upheavals) and eventually they always manage to build up great wealth again, starting from scratch. Apart from this : your parents should be very proud of you, and your country should be proud of you! I spent one month travelling to Ukraine before the annexation of Crimea to Russia and I really enjoyed the country!

Hey Albina, Gleb here. I can’t stress enough how hardworking and smart you are. I’m sure many people will find inspiration in your story and for sure will get some experience. For me the main message of this video is to never give up. Your parents must be so proud of you. Thank you for sharing such a valuable experience. Hope the war ends soon and we can visit our homes once again. Слава Україні🇺🇦❤️

You are very smart to acknowledge how blessed you are and even wiser to use those tools to improve your circumstances with those blessings you've received. I've never been money-wise privileged but I do understand leaving your home country at a young age because it became unsustainable to go on there for the moment, and the consequences of having to suddenly live alone and the burdens that it mentally adds

hello!! i wanted to thank you so much for this video and all your content in general. ive been through a very similar experience of losing everything so suddenly but in my case because of a dictatorship, so hearing how you and your family were able to get through such tough and lonely times makes me feel seen and understood and motivates me to keep going through life. For the longest time ive also felt crazy because i was the only one out of my friends going through a hard time financially and dealing with uncertainty as a 14 year old, so i felt so embarrassed about our situation therefore made me feel lonely. so i cant stress enough how meaningful it is to me that you are sharing your experience. looking forward to your future content here on youtube!!!

I'm in a similar situation. My parents are both self made-people from little towns in the Luhansk and Donetsk regions and they work hard to this day to give me the opportunities in Kyiv they didn't have growing up. And I also believe I have to live up to their heritage of hard work and family values.

Your story is so great to hear, and you family sounds so amazing! ❤ The closeness and full support of you and your education hits close to home, because my parents were the same! My mom is romanian and my dad is serbian, so the balkan famoly values. My parents were and are middle clasa, hard-working people, and they always did their best to give me the best life they could: to always have what I needed, to focus on my education, to instill good values, to teach me to be a good and kind person, and to do better in life than they did. And even now, when I have a great career in IT, they still helped me out by leaving me their appartment, making me food when I go visit, etc.

You made me cry by the part you said you send them money, Im from Venezuela and the situation here is bad too, so im really scared of my parents wealthy and I dont know what to do for helping them and Im getting so stress because Im a teenager (15) , theres no many things I can do for helping them and everybody in my enveroment are doing well and I dont want them to know that im happening by difficult financial situation while they are living so normal. I want to talk about this with someone, but I dont want to give more "stress" to my parents. Im so scared of what other people would think about me or my family ( we use to be more wealthy). I'm in a private school, i feel cuilty because i Know it's expensive and Just having the Best grades feels like it's not enough. So hear you mades me feel that im not the only one who's living this 🥹 You have no idea how hear you its helping me 💞 thank you for being so transparent ( Sorry for the gramatical mistakes, im still learning english too)

I totally get you! I come from an upper middle class family (from my father's side, my parents are divorced since i was a baby) but i live in the country with the most unstable economy of the world (Argentina). When I was a teenager i was lucky enough to study abroad in England and later in Asia, with a 70% scholarship. The year I moved to Asia is when the economic crisis started. I had to drop out because my parents couldn't afford the 2nd year. Later, I had to drop out of university because the inflation was too high and their salaries were decreasing. I started working and it was a decent salary for a 20 years old with no experience, but still it wasn't enough to pay my apartment's rent in the city. So I had to leave everything, my job and the city, and go back to my hometown which is a very small town with no opportunities on the field I study. There, I found a job and could keep a rent for 3 years. But the rent got so high that recently i had to move to my mother's house. From studying abroad to living at my mom's... imagine my depression state. But I'm trying to stay strong, finishing my studies (virtually because there are no universities here), working my day job and also working on a new project so i can make money online. I feel like a need to be location independent. I totally relate to the frustration with your country. My mother also rents her house, and she is afraid of not being able to afford it anymore. I want to provide for her and my teen sister so -at least- we can keep a roof over our head. We are lucky we had good education. That is the basis for everything. Wish you the best! And I also wish me the best 😅❤

You go so much trough. Its inspiring how your parents find their way back to their own new business. One thing is very interesting to me. I am from Europe, my whole live I am living here so. I remember how the world knew in minutes about Crimea. In seconds about the invasion last February 2022. But not about an invasion back then in 2014. I think its very questionable if really Russians did an invasion, why the news doesn’t spread all over the World, like the other times. I think its really interesting to do the research about that fact.

Interesting, what “invasion” are you so vaguely talking about in Lugansk in 2014? Our relatives in the north of LPR have been living under Ukrainian shelling till 2022 till the actual Russian invasion. Not to mention my moms hometown in Donbass that was actually invaded by troops that pledged to coup government in Kiev and are still up to this day terrorizing the local population. Want to feel sympathetic given all the crying and pledging, but the narrative twisting is very questionable.
