I would rather have new maps and game mods, over playing mbt point-blank shootout simulator. Large bulk of current maps was designed around 7.7 br bracket vehicles.

Agreed, they need to implement a Ground RB without CAS. That would bring in ALOT of more players.

I think the T30 (WW2 designed American Heavy Tank) actually had a 155mm APFSDS then called at the time “Fin-Missile” 💀. King tigers would crumple…

@@FlatBread1 That’s my thing, I clearly had “designed” before I even edited my comment. I edited it because it had “flint” instead of “fin”. I’m tired of me having to suffer the consequences because others cannot READ. Ugh, ANNOYING ASF. Everyone wants to have such a moment they jump on everything.

Bro hit the nail on the head once again. Another issue with darts is the richochet. People still getting lucky on a whiffed UFP shot because it bounces into the bottom of the turret ring just shouldn’t happen. Darts rigidity needs to be considered. Those darts should be wobbling and snap, losing a considerable amount of penetration

Unless its early Soviet ones (fat ones fired by the 100 mm / 115 mm) all modern long rod APFSDS should shatter when ricocheting. The midsection of the rod is weakest to shearing.

also in general that applies to all AP rounds in one scale or the other, if you look at physics simulations youl quickly notice that basically all AP rounds lose their form/composition quickly while trying to dig into the armour with high tier apfsds rounds hitting something at an extreme angle should absolutely not cause it to bounce off but rather disindigrate aka shatter on impact with older full size AP rounds they also shouldnt just bounce from high angle plate like they currently do, but rather lose a significant amount of penetrating power due to deformation etc and then bounce off also i highly doubt warthunders representation of overmatching is at all realistic, a lot of the time light tanks and other thinly armoured but highly angled (bmp1 etc) can bounce full size 90-122mm etc rounds which simply shouldnt be possible due to overmatch in any case

@@chost-059 In regards to the last paragraph. It just depends on what round you're shooting at some of these light tanks APHE, APC, or even APCBC will of course over match, but a 90-120mm APFSDS round will of course fall into a smaller round its self due to he discarding sabot portion. The majority loose roughly 80% of their original width which would remove the overmatching feature.

@@illegalaryan823actually Abrams ufp over-performs by bouncing rounds it shouldnt but the turret ring thing screws it up. Gaijin could just make the turret ring thicker and it’d fix the Abrams

Not in warthunder, not compared with the T80 and Leo2, its an easy kill with no error, no what the fuck moments like with the T80s ERA eating shots or the Leo2 bouncing with turret wiggles @@undulato

@@illegalaryan823 its good if the player is good, good thermals, second best shell at toptier, 5 second reload, still somewhat survivable, really good mobility, really sounds like a skill issue if your bad in it

I do think it's more of armor being modeled extremely poorly rather than the projectile itself, its a little weird, at least to me, to blame the projectile first rather than assume armor isn't the problem.

Because it is what the rounds do AFTER the armour is what is the problem, not the armour. a 25mm dart does more damage than a full sized 75mm shell AFTER the armour in warthunder, which is just stupid.

@@alkatraz9514 both are poorly modelled if you ask me like how a 2s38 can swallow a 105mm dart to its breach like a bird eating a worm, only damaging a periscope, or 5x 40mm darts point blank just lightly damaging a tanks barrel just doesn't clash well with my perception of physics. APFSDS to the face of ANY helicopter should kill it outright, I don't understand how you can fire, and terminally guide a hellfire after a solid tungsten dart goes from the nose through the gunner, pilot, transmission out past the tail and kills you, yet they still end up killing me post-death.... as if their EOIR sensor can run, and guide a weapon with everything in the back compartments being in 1000 smoldering pieces. Or my favorite, smack a t-series broadside with APFSDS, just to watch it travel though the entire carousel, melt the ammo, but doesn`t cook off and just turns to blast me in the face.... like wtf? ``consistently; inconsistent`` sums up this game pretty well.

the ability to "bounce" should just flat out be removed and replaced with the "shell shattered" function for 90% of the APFSDS rounds, modern APFSDS rounds shatter on impact with high angles or penetrate, they do not richochet like full size rounds. this would also fix things like the abrams upper plate acting as a huge shot trap

most modern tanks will come with built in fire extinguishers making internal fire not a good idea while shell shock is a good idea

At the moment the leopard 2a7 and the strv 122 B+are basically broken, better cannonball and you can basically shoot 3-4 shots at critical places and they don't die, compared to the same abrams which is easier to eliminate, the Russian tanks almost don't They can withstand shots, even with spall liners

the abrams is the most survivable tank at top tier. the Leopards only tank more shots because of their spall liners

I used to be a top tier main. But update that released BVM broke the spalling. When that update released, i would shoot leos center mass in the hull and there would be no spalling at all at random times. On top of that, since then we got hunter killer, spall liners, volumetric, fuel tank, black ammo, breech and barrel make darts disappear and many other things that made top tier incredibly RNG y and frustrating. When i flank and see a tank, i really dont know if would get the kill or get killed.

I just really wished Gaijin would fix the annoying bug where dart ricochets get eaten by optics or turret rings which is obviously not realistic or fun to deal with

War thunder doesn't have machine kill for tanks, and ace crew only tanks 20sec to repair, I think this is also where the problem is, repairing is too op and people can easily reject dying, if they remove repairing for sim or realistic it can easily put tanks that can take shots and those who cannot on the same level, basically they need to overhaul the repair system

3BM25 sucks balls. I want more open maps at lower BRs, getting semi urban map 95% of the time just isn't enjoyable.

problem is, low BR germany (like from panzer 4 f2 to King Tiger) absolutely dominates large open maps. The shermans or t-34s cant do anything at those ranges, which is why they implemented "semi urban" maps so that the german mains get to pick off the ocassional sherman conscript who just wanders into the open, but also gives a chance for smarter sherman players to take advantage of their stabilizers to get the first shot off in sudden urban encounters

Yeah, maybe something inbetween would be better, like a crossover between Ardennes and large Sinai. But yeah, Germany absolutely dominates, tho I just want a bit flatter maps where I don't have to expose my whole tank to shoot at enemy when playing USSR, like on Ardennes where over 99% of inclines a T-34 has to drive over them completly while Panther gets a perfect hull down.

What i would like to see : -remove spall liners -ammo explode every time they get hit with enough energy -the stun mecanic when shooting a fuel tank seems fine to me (the first one to pen should be the one that get a kill and not the opposite) -Maybe try to add more component in tanks model so that your almost certain the your shot will make damage.
