Warbonnet Ridgerunner Lay Flat Hammock

I love hammock camping and I just picked up a Warbonnet Ridgerunner. Optional bug net, saddlebag storage, lay flat style, and no need for an underquilt. I've loving it so far. This video will cover the initial set up and test.

What is your favorite set up for hammock camping?

I'm a Ridgerunner loyalist, albeit new to hammock camping generally. Couple things - like gathered end, I prefer head DOWN a few inches, as I have done it the opposite and I have wound up against the foot wall overnight. Also, perhaps like me, you may find as you use it over and over again, you become more secure with the feel, and you will hang it a bit higher. It's easier to get into and out of, especially if your "center of gravity" is a bit...."off" hehehe (I'm a higher than average weight girl ;) ). I am going to subscribe, simply because I'm curious to watch further reviews of the RR from ya! Good luck!

I love camping hammock too and i prefer to set up hammock quickly. I'm now using a hammock from amazon www.amazon.com/dp/B07NLSKSRF that I can set it up on a few seconds. I recommend it if you wanna set up the hammock quickly.

I've done six nights in my RR now and it has been great. I'm running whoopie slings with the dyneema fiber tree straps with titanium fish hooks. Super lightweight suspension and I love the flexibility of the whoopie slings. Just got done camping with my RR and I slept in everyday until around 9:30. I'm 6'0" 240ish. Love this hammock.

@@gbaker1a775 I’m 6’5” @ 180 lbs. I toss and turn a lot when sleeping. I wonder how stable it is when doing that, would it start swinging quite a bit? Also, considering just using a pad in the hammock instead of buying the double layer and just use my OneWind underquilt underneath if I wanted to go that route. Any thoughts to this appreciated.

@@MrBalas3 the RR doesn’t feel so comfortable sleeping on your belly, s little bit better for side sleeping but not optimal. I find that the more you can sleep on your back, the better your sleep will be overall. If you’re moving a lot, the swing in the hammock isn’t bad at all. It’ll be fine. As far as a pad goes, I’ve never used one in it. I have the same underquilt you mentioned and it’ll get the job unless it gets to be really cold. I would say it would be fine for all temps above freezing. I broke down and bought the zero degree Lynx UQ on the Warbonnet site.

Very interesting. There's a new start up company called Haven that's made a lay flat which can also be used as a sort of bevy/tent, which is a super cool idea, but at the cost of weight. This looks like a nice light option for a lay flat, hammock only.

I hang head abotb10-15 inches lower than my foot end. Works out way better for me and I do a 25ish degree suspension angle on my ridge runner vs the normal 30ish on my XLC, dream hammock or dutchware chameleon. But lately I love my Amok draumr. Great video!

Man thank you so much for this video I'm 6-foot 240 and I have a simply light designs Trail lair hammock and I also have a REI quarter Dome air Bridge hammock both hammocks I get great sleeping the only thing I don't like is the REI quarter Dome it has a small door to get in and out and being a bigger guy it's not hard but you have to focus more where in my simply light designs it doesn't take any effort at all to get in and out so I've been thinking about getting the warbonnet ridgerunner but I've heard a couple people say for broader shoulder men not to get it because you actually end up getting shoulder squeeze I do notice that when I'm in my bridge hammock I tend to sleep on my side and when I'm in my gathered end hammock I sleep more on my back so I'm still a little unsure could you please let me know the difference when you're using your klymit Luxe pad I think it's the same pad that I have the klymit static V Luxe it's extra wide so that would be the pad I would be using as well so I'm very curious if when you use the pad it takes away from that shoulder squeeze thank you so much and God bless

Does it come with the sleeping pad pocket or is that extra?

I think this is offered in either single or double layer. The double layer creates the pocket feature for a sleeping pad.

Sorry but I don't consider that a hammock. I will stick with my double gathered end hammock by FIELD And STREAM. 30.00

Here let me help you out 'cause maybe you were sick that day in class.... Definition of hammock (Entry 1 of 2) : a swinging couch or bed usually made of netting or canvas and slung by cords from supports at each end www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/hammock (link to definition above) I did not include the second definition that is given here (in the link provided) because of the context of this post. Not sure how you consider this "not" a hammok but you just rock that 'cause I guess you are smarter than everyone

Does it bother anyone else that Warbonnet has a logo of a Native American with a Native American head dress and it's owned by a white man? I bought an underquilt from this company and when I saw the logo I had to send it back and they charged me a 20% restocking fee but I could not stomach the cultural appropriation by this company.
