Making a Rak Gol army is in the top echelon of my life's bucket list. They are so cool and they scratch an itch that the 40k tabletop has just never satisfied: a bad guy xenos race that is NOT a "fantasy in space" race. And Tyranids dont count because the whole hive mind thing makes them closer to a force of nature than a race imo.

If you dig deep enough, you can probably find a Warhammer Fantasy equivalent :D

What about the Necron? I know their based from the Tomb kings, but they don't feel fantasy to me.

@@GrimDarkNarratoryou're probably right - i just have such a craving for a new, intelligent, antagonistic bad guy race. We've had the same few for so long now - i want space pirates or some xenos empire. We hear about that kind of thing so often in the lore that it is a shame we never see them on the tabletop. Im still holding out hope that Blackstone fortress will eventually deliver to us enough random aliens to make a space pirate menagerie faction. We just need a solid core (again, like the Rak Gol) to go along with the heavy hitters like the Zoat and the Ambull.

@@gibbjonathan22 I absolutely agree with you that Necrons are probably tied for the best option currently with Genestealer Cults. Its just that both factions have those little things that keep them from being "just right". But they are so close. I think i want some aliens that feel like they could come out of a franchise like Firefly or Star Wars (before it was ruined by greed) but given the 40k treatment. Kill Team: Rogue Trader was the perfect opprtunity to do something like this but the Nurgle bad guys were such a copout imo.
