Hey brother .... I’ve had this knife for years and it used to receive a ton of attention. I really haven’t used in a while ( due to so many others ), but I’m glad i watched this. I’m going to have to break this out again . Perhaps a new vid in the works . I had this way before I got into KZfaq and it had always performed so well - I feel like I neglected over these last 3,4 years . ( I got into KZfaq vids about 2 years ago just so you know ). Stop over some time ( if you are not too busy haha ). I’m just mad at myself for never posting a vid on this old friend the SP-6 . Stay safe as always.🤠

Hi, nice review. To counter the baton issue, later productions have an unsharpened top. All in all a great knife to have around in the bush.

About the batoning. If you don't like that top edge, just get a fine file and gently file the edge away.

does anyone know if the Spec Ops Brand "combat master " sheaths work well with these?

Great review dude. Got rid of that stupid top sharp part on mine.Could picture hurting my self on it camping.If I were in combat maybe but even then.3\32" all the way ,except the last 1\4 ,left that sharp to keep the tip sharp.Your correct about the shoe laces thing,that was dumb.Make another knife review some day.

Got it, and also have the bk16, and a cold steel sk5 bushman in my bag and a black cara cara 2 in my pocket. The setup is budget for sure but can get some work done. Also I wanted the sp6 for survival based upon your's and mayor fuglycool's review and the price point. So I dulled the back edge so it wouldn't chew a baton as bad, but it's still stabby as hell

This is actually No different than the Freedom Fighter 6 knife. the same blade, 8 inches, except the FF6 has a Kabar style handle which is actually better than the Kabar handle because you don't see the pin. it confused me for the longest time because it came in the SP6 sheath, has an SP6 blade, but actually isn't an SP6. the FF6 is actually a newer knife according to OKC. I actually prefer it over the SP6. I can't find any use for this knife other than a self-defense combat knife. the sharp edge is pretty steep probably 30-40 degree angle which makes it horrible just to sharpen, shave wood. this knife with it's spear tip is meant to sink into flesh, it's meant to kill, that's it.

I think the 6 means the year it was made? 2006? I'm not 100% sure. I have the SP1-95. So I can only assume it was made in 1995. Correct me if I'm wrong.

"SP" stands for "spec plus" and "6" is just the model number. My best bet is that SP-6 originated from the sixth design prototype in the Spec Plus series. If you look at the numbers (especially in the Spec Plus Gen2 series) you'll notice that there's no apparent order to them, and matching SP53 (for example) with any given year is problematic.

I usually don't care about this kinda thing., but if you're gonna be doing reviews, I'd recommend cutting down your "ums". I no joke counted 50 ums and uhs in the first..... 3 minutes of your video. You've got quite the predictable rhythym to them haha. I don't know something about your voice makes them stand out to me. Anyway I just bought this knife from the Army Surplus store in my city, and I gotta agree with you, pretty solid knife.

F.I.G.H.T.I.N.G. knife! Not meant for batoning or feather stick making. Made to cut flesh, clothing and maybe rope. That's about it. Bushcrafting is not it's intended purpose.
@Ve-suvius
@Ve-suvius Жыл бұрын
Right on. All this talk about dulling the back edge. Get another knife. It's not intended to baton wood . It's a close encounter, a social encounter knife. Respect its intended use. Batoning is heavily overrated. You can do that with a Mora if you need to start a fire.
