He was never selfish a guy who they made him become heel in Survivor series 98 when he was a fan favourite for the last three months so Austin can go over who was supposed to win at WM15 and 16 who got screwed never refused to put over a guy like Chris Jericho where Jericho won his first two World title against The Rock

I agree with you, i also don't like wwe nowadays, but i still watch it as there are guys like CM Punk, Brock Lesnar, Triple H, Undertaker which are still here even if it won't last long. But to me, those guys above are enough, I don't need the rock to be entertained. Maybe the business needs him as these 4 guys above are not enough.

Yeah, and the connotation that follows the IWC is that specific group, not the internet wrestling community as a whole. No one has a good reason to hate discussing wrestling on the internet, but people do have a reason to hate the IWC. The difference is connotation.

The problem was they didn't know what to do with him because his character isn't suppose to be friends with anyone. The plan was to have him join DX. They even thought about having heel stone cold feud with face vince, but they were afraid that the fans would turn on Vince. I always felt that Austin's 10 month lay off actually revived his career. Had he not left for 10 months he would have started getting booes. If you remember in late 99 fans would boo Austin when he was in the ring with Rock.
@Vinnymanvinny1
@Vinnymanvinny1 11 жыл бұрын
I just wanted to reiterate what you just said. You are absolutely correct that The Rock was a bigger draw than Austin in late 1999. After The Rock turned face after Backlash 99, his popularity kept skyrocketing. Summer of 99 Austin and Rock were neck and neck, and after Summer Slam 99 The Rock left Austin in the dust. There is an article by a legitimate source that stated that Austin was going to turn heel in 99 because his popularity had dropped drastically.

He will recover but whether he returns or not, it would depend only on how it affects his movie career. He has contracts with lots of people and movie studios so if he keeps getting injured and can't promote his movies or filming is delayed because of it, he costs a lot of people a lot of money that way. And there could be a danger of these studios to start thinking he's unreliable because he keeps getting hurt from wrestling. So if he quits it won't be because he wants to but because he has to.

The Rock is still a classy businessman, and he truly knows how to put a guy over. The people that say "The Rock sucks", need to understand that he's one of the major reasons that wrestling still exists. He paved the road for the guys like John Cena, CM Punk, Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler, and on, and on, etc. To the people that are always yelling "Cena sucks!", love him or hate him, he sells tickets. Wrestling is a business, so it's the guys that draw $,when handed the ball, that have the success.

In late 99 Vince became alot more sympathetic during his feud with hhh over his daughter before he became heel again at wm 2000, I have no doubt in my mind that had austin competed in the triple threat match at survivor series against both the rock and hhh he would have joined forces with hhh and the two man power trip would have been formed right then and there.

first of all dude when he says he's never leaving again that doesn't mean he's gonna wrestle and guess what you can retire from wrestling and still keep your word example have ya met stone cold steve austin the guy who's been retired for 10 years but still took part in wwe in others copasities like special guest referee guest host gm all that stuff well guess what dude the rock can do all those things too he doesn't have to wrestle to still be apart of the company or keep his word
@TheOJMO

It seems like to get respect from 100% of the fans and the guys in the back, you either have to wrestle until your body is broken and you're physically unable to, or die. That I will never understand...

i dont get it.. rock says he told vince about the injury right away but it was reported everywhere that at raw it was a chaotic atmosphere because rock didnt show up and couldnt be reached. somethings not right here. BTW, if that was his last match / last appearance etc.. what was the whole "im never leaving again" speech about?
@jamminjackhammer
@jamminjackhammer 11 жыл бұрын
when his name gets mentioned on raw now you can hear alot of booes. kinda cena/like boo/cheer, whereas Austins name gets cheers. The Rock was white hot when he returned after a long time out before wm 28, but that has changed, now Austin has been out for some time, and people would be more eager to see him at wm 30 than rock, as I say absence makes the eart go fonder

I'm as big a Wrestling fan as you will find but, I understand that its not worth it for him to lose out on Millions and Millions on movies by risking a big injury in the ring for a match. Maybe when his Schedule slows down in a few years he can come back again doing 2-3 Matches a year because the Iron is hot for him in hollywood right now after all these years and now he is at the point where he can say "I'm Pround of my Wrestling Roots" which is something he couldnt say 5-10 years ago.

Unfortunately I can't change it nor can you. If you want to be 'WWE fan or 'Mark', go ahead. If you want to be a 'Smark', go ahead. If you want to be a wrestling fan, go ahead, but once you discuss wrestling on the internet you are apart of the IWC, no matter how much you dislike the phrase. Or do you really want to be apart of the 'WWE Universe', which is worse.

Rock was just following what wwe told him to do. I already got over the cena hug & handshake 2 years ago I already perdicted it was going to happen either sooner or later (when he first came back in 2011I reasoned that wwe was going to pull some BS like that so when it happened this year I wasn't surprised in the least it was a forgone conclusion to me.)
