Hands-down the most incredible structure I’ve ever been in. I felt peace unlike anything I’ve experienced before. If you live in the DC area, I would strongly urge you to go see it and experience it for yourself while it’s open to the public. What I’ve felt in this holy place transcends words or description.

Such an amazing place that I am glad I can go through. When I joined in 1999 to do baptisms there, I knew I was where I had to be. At these iconic temples, I have received more answers through prayer.-Chad James

Since my mission in the early 1980’s to Washington D.C. I have felt a close connection to this particular temple. I have always believed that one of the many reasons the Church has done well in this part of the country is because of the Spirit one feels in this special place!

The Washington D.C. Temple and these special tours are obviously very significant. The Lord never does anything by accident and we know He has directed these efforts. Has anyone else noticed how many videos the church has released surrounding the reopening of this temple and the amazing responses that have come from government leaders, people of other faiths, etc.? Thanks be to our Father; to Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace and King; and to our wonderful faithful apostles for their efforts to help the Kingdom of God keep moving forward! ❤️❤️❤️

I'm so glad that so many people were invited to go through the temple, because they will be able to feel the spirit of such a holy place, and they will be able take that feeling with them in their lives. I remember when I first went through an open house at a temple when I was five years old. It was a little scary, but it gave me a sense of respect for its holiness, and a feeling of love and peacefulness.

Many years back this was "our" temple, even though I lived over 2 hours away, before they built many of the ones closer, eliminating such a drive. But it was worth every minute of the drive to finally see it on the beltway and feel, "I'm almost home." I think that's the word I would use to describe this place that I spent so many days and hours in those years ago -- home. There aren't too many places on the earth I feel that way: by the sea, up in the mountains, on the open road where (S)He is with me. I'm no longer a practicing member but I still hold much value to what I was taught and given in this temple.

The holy temple is a sacred space, where we can bless our loved ones for eternity. It's also a wonderful place where you and I can receive personal revelation, and where we can learn just how much God loves you and I personally!

Neither myself nor my wife know how we ended up with one of the special invitations to attend the early open house, but it was a pleasure to go through as both of us took out our endowments and were sealed in this temple in the 80s. Out of all the temples we have gone through, none compare in majesty to this one; this is 'our' temple. Can’t wait to again perform temple service 😊

The purpose of these special invitations is for the Father to touch the hearts of these people in such a way that they will be able- to recognize and follow the Spirit of the Lord when He needs their assistance in rolling the stone cut either hands. And for some small portion to touch how they work in the various world wide capacities. Their experience is for more than just them.

If nothing else it will be an experience that remains with them and be remembered as one of peace and friendship for a long time. Perhaps some may feel inclined to further pursue what membership in the church may have for them, or a renewed interest in their own faith, or in whatever way is most meaningful to them to draw closer to God, who is infinitely able to reach every one of us as we desire Him/Her.

What they don't tell you is that after the warm welcome to all visitor of the temple, it is closed for redecorating, everything is removed even down to the last lightbulb because all those visitors are infidels and that have defiled the temple. It must be cleansed and dedicated. After dedication, only Mormons, in good standing, are welcomed in the temple. So much for their Christian welcome.

Hi Thomas, visitors are always welcome to enter any of thousands of Latter-day Saint meetinghouses around the world and attend Sunday worship services. Temples are different from a meetinghouses. Like in ancient times, we consider temples to be literal houses of the Lord, and it is true that only members of the Church in good standing are allowed to enter. However, visitors of all ages are invited to a free public open house held for nearly every new or renovated temple. You and others interested can also learn more about temples, and even watch a virtual tour of the interior of a new Latter-day Saint temples, at the link below: newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/topic/temples
