Her 911 call made it plain. She literally said "I'm sorry, but I'm NOT going to NOT follow him...I'm staying" and then she lies about this during her testimony. Don't follow-she followed; don't contact-she did; why are you pulling out a gun? Now you claim "it went off" like so many other killers do. Stop crying for yourself; cry for the guy who got a death sentence for a traffic violation.

Hannah Payne is a killer. This man should not be dead. It doesn't matter, she had no right to chase down this man, block him off, jump out her car and assault this man , pull out her gun and shoot and kill this man. They waited 4 years for justice to be served, but this entitled murderer got to go home to her family after every trial day ended. I am so glad that the jury did the right thing and found her guilty. And even still she will be able to get parole after serving 43 years. 3o years is a life term in Georgia. Those who committed serious violent felonies on or after July 1, 2006, must serve 30 years before being eligible for parole. Life in prison is mandatory for murder in Georgia. She got 30 years plus 13 years. That is 43 years. She will be eligible for parole when she is 68 if she does the 30 + 8+ 5.

@Encourager-Purpose-Destiny My question is, since all parole eligible prisoners in Georgia must serve a minimum of 1/3 of their sentence, does she become parole eligible after serving her 30 year mandatory? If so, she would only have to serve a little under 3 years on the 8 year sentence, and a little under 2 years on the 5 year sentence,...unless there's a law in Georgia that requires one to serve all or most of their sentence after so many felonies.

Psychopath and a narcissist and outright arrogance is what drove her to kill that black man. She thought she can kill him and get away with it. She’s been lying from day one all the witnesses and the telephone call with the operator this menace belongs in prison. You can look at her and see that there is something wrong with her. And I believe Ray had something to do with it. She destroyed and 65-year-old grandfather family dismantled it when she killed him and caused her own family to suffer which I don’t care about and she deserved every bit of harassment, death threat all the above nothing but a 21 year old kid played the judge and jewelry and entitlement is why she did what she did. The operator told her several times not to follow that man I’m happy Justice was served.

Her lawyer showed indifference, as well as her character witnesses. Mr. Herring didn’t matter then or now.. and that’s what needs to stop. Hannah Payne ignored dispatcher instructions and made the choice to be judge, jury, and executioner.. as did the McMichaels! Contrary to her friend’s statement.. Georgia is not taking a step backwards.. it has never progressed! Accountability might change that finally!

Interestingly enough Hannah showed no remorse during her statement to the courts, but during her sentencing she was emotional. It appears that obviously she justified her actions and doesn't believe she was guilty of homicide. Irrespective of her motives whether genuine or not, I question because of her age should she have been allowed legally to have a firearm. Self-protection is a necessity for people due to the high crime rate, but unfortunately some people are not psychologically to emotionally fit to carry firearms. I completely feel that Hannah was mentally and emotionally unstable and not ready to handle a firearm. Her youth combined especially when your hormone levels are high can produce irrational unstable behavior. I think the government might have to put age requirements for licensed firearms. Psychological evaluation should be apart of the licensing process. Pepper spray or rubber bullets before firearms 💯

My sentiments exactly! Bro kept saying he was not a speaker sure spoke way too much. He came across as a fool being used by Hannah family. Now I wonder how is he being treated in his community? He heard all the evidence. He heard her demeanor on that 911 tape. Yet he set up there and skipped over that part.

Hannah Payne (25) is not smart & also not so tough after all as an individual by committing the crime of murder of Kenneth Herring (62) by even have the audacity of committing Perjury by fibbing &/or lying under oath by saying &/or claiming that Kenneth Herring who was the person who actually did pulled trigger of her gun & also to say &/or claim it was self defence but both of the Prosecutors & the Jury weren't buying any of it because they what she said of any of her testament in Court is all very big fat bare faced lies of him pulled the trigger of her gun and believed it was self defence and she should have an extra charge of perjury being added &/or included as such against her by the Court because she had lied under oath and yes perjury is very serious criminal offence which enough to very hefty prison sentence of imprisonment for either extra months &/or years on top that of her (43) prison sentence.

Yes she should get life with no parole. She continue to ignore instructions that was given by the dispatcher. She got the license plate number and wanted to play police. She had no damn reason to block him in and go to his car and tell him to get out of the car. How dare she. She killed a man for no reason and there's no coming back from that at all. I would have a little empathy if she had remorse she have none. Those tears she sheading is not for taking a life it's bc she have to go to jail

I did not listen to the whole court proceedings, but handing out sentences is not easy task. The judge , and specifically the jury is a third party to the facts and the law in this case. Overall, emotions must not be considered. Although, this is much difficult for the elderly gentlemen and the defendant. Life with the possibility of parole is a reasonable decision; although some would disagree and some would agree. Only King Solomon could have reached a clear opinion in this matter. Nobody wins when a life is cut down.

You are so wrong on many accounts, especially, on GA sentencing laws, which you probably know nothing about. Also, the def. was offered a similar plea deal before the trial. There has never been a nicer, sweeter judge, and she did not give a post-sentencing speech condemning the defendant like other judges. If anything, the defense attorney was arrogant and disrespectful of the Herring family. Always shaking his head about something the prosecutor said.

Not listening to the 911 operator to stop chasing the man, chasing a man down, shooting him after he tries to leave …that’s not a mistake ! That’s murder with malice. She wasn’t crying because of remorse, but because she was found guilty . Hannah has Main Character syndrome . Judge got it right.
