We just witnessed the third launch of Starship which completed some pivotal milestones for SpaceX.
It was also my third time enjoying the view from Margaritaville, a newly renovated resort on South Padre Island.
I am very grateful to be able to stream from the roof, alongside NASA, NSF, and this time I also benefitted from having a working Starlink to power my stream. Over 13,000 of you watched my coverage with Joe Tegtmeyer from around the globe.
But some of my fans also decided to watch the big launch from the balcony of Margaritaville which offers a spectacular view just about 6 miles from the pad.
plan to stream again from Margaritaville for the fourth launch. I am asked constantly where the best place to watch the launch is.
I believe it's ultimately split between two spots.
Isla Blanca Park, the most popular gathering spot along the water
& a hotel with an unobstructed view, such as Margaritaville.
While the park will bring a sense of community and energy, it also doesn't have any service to stream and the traffic getting out of the park afterward is a nightmare.
The hotel option is nice because you are already stationed where you are staying and there is a better chance for service because I KNOW you want to share your own POV from the launch after!

We got an RV spot in Isla Blanca Park for the first IFT launch. It was nice to just wake up and casually walk to the end of the road to the beach. We plan on doing the same for launch 4. Can't wait!

Why are there 2 upside-down campers at the site in the drone video?

Note that Margaritaville is the building on the right when looking from the beach. The tall double-towers are the Saphire condomiums, which do have rentals. I happened to get a room on the 16th floor, south corner, so the view was also good, though the fog was heavy this week. It was nice to bump into you in the parking garage at the charging station, Ellie! I also got some good pictures of Joe's Cybertruck charging there.

I heard your channel mentioned in another KZfaq channel as reference, today, for the first time. This is a milestone when you have become a source for the rest of the world! This also means you have developed a relationship with the people that matter! Good job on making your footprint in this area of the world! Remember to dream big in the months to come!

Travelling from Ireland, having dates in advance is an imperative, well... it would be useful 😋. Its been my dream, since seeing Hopper, to be there for a launch....This information is very helpful and thanks again Ellie for the vid!

I must admit that the idea of having hotel base on South Padre Island for launch viewing as well as for a general stay in the area greatly appeals to me over the crowds of Isla Blanca Park.

I would love to see a few interviews with random SpaceX workers on how they feel about working towards the creation of Starship. Are even the construction workers psyched? Try the parking lots and catch people when they knock off for the day

A mile to mile and a half is a huge difference. Just stay at a hotel and make the walk to the park.

3rd option, book a boat charter to take you to South Bay pass, unobstructed views directly to the launch pad from 4.2 miles. We did that for IFT-3, it was an amazing experience.

All launches are cool, especially in person. If in person is not an option, I prefer the feed of the launch provider such as NASA etc.

Thanks,Ellie! I agree with your synopsis. Also, one could walk to the beach and head South into the Park. That would make a nice early Morning hike with a good view.

This update and visitor buzz video make a visit to Starbase,Tx quite the destination spot for vacations, to see (not touch) the Starbase facilities, and enjoy the local hospitality. The beaches (South Padre, Isla Blanca, and BocaChica) are clear and inviting to surfing, swimming, and sunning.

I was there. Nice walk from the hotel, so no need for the camper nonsense. Flight 2 will probably go down as the best overall viewing experience for a Starship flight with the excellent visibility, uncrowded island, and the supernova explosion.

For IFT-2, I stayed at the Holiday Inn and for $50 you could get access to the roof of the 6 story building. A lot of us got pi$$ed off because the hotel manager left us hanging in the lobby waiting for him to lead us to roof until less than 30 minutes before the launch so we were getting anxious that we might miss it or not have time to set up cameras etc... For IFT-1, I was on the sand dunes by the waterway. For IFT-3, I thought I was going to see it come down in Hawaii where I live. The thing I wonder about Margaritaville, is how to make sure I get a room with a good view, or how to get access to the roof.

OK, so, including commentary about how we, “drove our Tesla to Starbase” is getting a bit on-the-nose at this point. It was funny when Tim Dodd did it the first time years ago and now it’s just getting trite.

Don’t expect OFT 4 to be any time sooner than July(ish). And to be clear, I’m 100% OK with being wrong on this. I’m just being realistic.

I think it is safe to expect that there will be less delay between 3 and 4 than 2 and 3. Imho it would be unrealistic to expect otherwise. I would be shocked if it took until July.

The best place to watch this behemoth rising into the clouds may be on your computer or TV monitor, far from its "danger zone," whatever that might be. The FAA "Flight Safety Analysis Handbook" requires SpaceX to show analytically that launching and landing Starship will have less than one chance in a million of injuring or ki||ing someone, and less than thirty chances in a million of injuring or ki||ing a bunch of people. The chance of being injured or ki||ed by a lightening strike is less than one in a million, and lightning ki||s about 20 people each year in the United States and injures hundreds more. So know that there is always a nonzero chance that that beautiful Starship rocket may decide to turn and head straight toward your "safe" viewing location.
