Our highway patrol has been using HEMI powered Chargers since 2006, and the officers love them. Besides being faster, and better handling than the Crown Vics, officers say that they are just as durable, which makes sense, since both the HEMI and the NAG1 tranmission are bulletproof.

Many of those problems you refer to, can be eased by buying either a civilian Crown Victoria, a Mercury Grand Marquis, or a police model used by high ranking officers, fire marshals, or detectives. The National Park Police also used Crown Victorias, and those cars had an easier life than a city, county, or state police patrol unit.

I have a 2011 crown Vic. It’s my second one. I can back what you said about the car it’s easy and fun to drive, easy to maintain , tons of customization options and more. This car rocks the highway, with cruise control set at 65-70, no one will be in your way. I had the fun of building my own center console with a radio and armrest vision built in, looks badass and it’s something you’d never be able to do in a more normal car. The seats are so comfortable it makes a long trip feel like you’re relaxing on a sofa. The interior besides that is extremely basic and black plastic. In the future I think it would be cool to replace all the black plastic trim with a softer material from a normal civilian Vic. So many things about this car that just amazes me. Idc what people call me driving this thing, wacker, grandpa, etc. I don’t care I love driving my land yacht.

Picked her up and she lights a cigarette. OH, that's why, I didn't let her smoke in the marquise. I liked the marquise but the 302 engine a little small. It was always working lowering mpg and shortening its life. A 351 would have wasted gas but lasted alot longer.

Here's an observation/electrical question: Recently, I've been working under the dash and currently have the LCM (Lighting Control Module) disconnected. I've noticed that I have to use the manual release on the bottom of the steering column in order to shift out of park. Is this normal...? That is, if you disconnect the LCM, does that also disable the park release/lock feature built into the gear shifter? Thanks for any pointers on this...

I LOVE the Vic. drives so smooth and feels the same at any speed over 25 MPH. Another upside is no one will beat you off the light, fear strikes them if they think you are a cop. That happened to me a few times. I told a friend of mine who is a policeman about it and he rolled out laughing. He knows I drove with a white shirt and my truckers headset, not to try to look like a cop, I just liked white shirts.

They used a mechanical throttle body until the 2005 model year. the upgrade to 255 horsepower was in 2004. Plus in 2003, they got a revised frame design, which was both stronger amd lighter. 2004 is the best model year hands down.

My dad talked me out of buying an El Camino for my first car and getting an '06 Crown Vic PI instead. Definitely one of the best decisions I have ever made. I've had it for almost two years now and it's treated me very well.

@@charlie1427 Reccomend a specific year for a first time crown vic buyer?
@charlie1427
@charlie1427 Жыл бұрын
@@premiumc2282 It totally depends on what body style you prefer tbh. They're all really solid cars and the quirks of each year are well known so I'd just suggest find the body style you like and what year it is then read up on known issues. I love my 06. The only money I've spent on it really has been for routine maintenance.

I have an 2000, got it with 140 miles, now has 290. I had to replace wheel bearings, alternator, water pump, starter, intake, gearbox, trailing arms, fuel pump, modifications are 18 in wheels, 245/45/18 front, 255/45/18 rear, larger exhaust, ibac lowering springs, Kyb shocks , magnaflow mufflers, crome tips, fresh paint, k&n air filter, front end rebuilt.I think that's it.

So from what you're saying, if you buy a P71 police Interceptor you should immediately just change out the alternator to a new one and the passenger side power window motor and switch ? You know what , I like this video You go right to the point

Question, I had a 2006 CVPI and the engine light was flashing. My dad had taken a look at it and he saw that antifreeze was getting into the spark plug well and on the coil packs, flooded to the top of the coil pack. Like you and a lot of others have said, they thought it was the intake manifold possibly leaking. My dad was switching out the coil packs and the spark plugs and after he cleaned out the antifreeze and removed the spark plug, there was antifreeze inside the engine. We then assumed that it was a blown head gasket or a cracked head and returned it to the dealership. The car never overheated or anything and started up great, but misfired along with a significant performance decrease and would almost quit when going up a steep hill. Would an intake manifold leakage or crack cause it to get into the engine or is that actually a cracked head/blown head gasket? Please explain in detail because my dad was confused as to how the antifreeze could get into the engine with just an intake manifold problem. Thanks in advance.
