Want to SCALE your business? Go here: acquisition.com
Want to START a business? Go here: skool.com/games
If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $200,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below.
How I got here…
21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit.
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.
34 yrs old: I became co-owner of Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so.
Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).
To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.
You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.
Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.
Never quit,
Alex
FULL DISCLOSURE
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

Food for thought: Place a sizeable portion of your earnings in fixed-income securities like treasury bills, corporate bonds, government securities, debentures etc and let it compound. It will take you far I promise. If you're not really versatile in these matters, get an advisor. This is how I got ahead. Even as a millionaire, I didn't buy a new vehicle. My grandfather was a millionaire, and he drove his super old truck to all his business and had a brand new truck tucked to the side as his home. I remember asking him why bot drive the new truck, he said because my workers are humble, I'm humble and they see me drive in my old truck and they're open to me. They don't fear telling me when something needs to be changed or a better way. Driving in a new truck would change that.

At the very least, I now grasp the concept of leverage. Creating wealth and financial freedom isn't as tough as many people believe. Building wealth and remaining financially stable indefinitely is a lot easier with the appropriate information. Participating in financial programs and products is the only true approach to make a high income and remain affluent indefinitely.

Starting at age 20 at san diego state all I did was hustle every single day. Stacked my classes on tuesday and thursday, cold called 12 hours a day rest of the days trying to get a lead. Fast forward 5 years later, I have sold more apartment building in san diego than anyone else in the past 2 years and have invested all of my money into cash flowing assets. When you first start, it might seem like you're going nowhere, but if you stick with it, you will become successful. Its only a matter of time. I do this thing now: If I watch a video about self-improvement I have to immediately take action after I finish watching. It helps me to not just consume all the time and to actually produce. I suggest it to anyone else who binges this type of content.

@@consciousmassofatoms You don’t need motivation to take action. You’re never going to feel like it. All you need is discipline. Do it with a stank face, attitude, crying, screaming, bubble guts, or whatever.

One thing I took from this, Alex, "Learn till you earn,". I have to say, this is the first video of yours I have watched. I am inspired by everything you have said. I am collecting SSDI and doing what it takes to get myself off of that. I am tired of the handout from the government and being connected to the government for an income. On the other end of the spectrum, I would never want to be a millionaire. My brother is a multi-millionaire, and I have watched that lifestyle eat him alive and eat his morals into the grave. Contextually speaking, that does not encompass the entire community of wealthy millionaires. I recognize it represents only a small percentage. It just scares me to see the route he went down. Thank you for the quality information in this video and consider me a new sub.

Amazing advice as usual. Considering its presumably addressing someone in a do-or-die part of their financial life, the "extreme" advice is very suitable to the situation. I say this because even though I am in a vastly different situation than Avante, this advice could help me a lot, the only problem is I have a severe lack of ambition to actually put in all this hard work. I think that has to do with my generally lazy mindset and outlook on life (do the least amount of work at the highest level I can), I say all this because I have literally no clue how to get myself in the gear that I clearly need to be in to put out the hustle Alex promotes here. Now of course the answer is just "You just gotta go do it!" and I know that, ofc I know that, every underachiever in the history of the world knows that if they just put more effort in they would achieve more, its common sense. The issue is I just don't know how to get myself to "just do it" as Adidas puts so aptly. I assume its a mixture of undiagnosed ADHD and general anxiety that keeps me stuck (tho even that sounds like excuses) but videos like this always remind me I have so much more I could make my life if I just tried a bit harder. If anyone has had similar struggles and got past it, I always appreciate advice.

As good as that might sound to you, let's just a realistic scenario which debunks that. You're 15 and you've been diagnosed with a deliberating condition that impacts your daily life... you can't get out as much due to that condition and your social life, finances and education are not as good because of it... is that not unlucky? Do you think every child, teenager and adult who has bad health has bad health because of something they have done? It isn't always the case. Luck is definitely a factor in finances and in life and cannot be disputed. That said, you should always try your best of course.

100% his advice on getting hired somewhere. I did this exact thing 4 years ago. Applied, hunted the talent acquisition employees on LinkedIn, went there in person and one day, they called me. Still there today. Hunt the job you want. You be the headhunter.

That first tip cutting costs makes such a HUGE difference. I went from living semi-comfortably paycheck to paycheck in a 2 bed apartment, moved in with an older couple whose kids are out of the house and already having their own kids. I got my own room, which is enough. I got my own bathroom, which is more than I need. Ontop of that, I no longer have a car, instead I ride a $100 bike to a job that is close enough I can cut that expense of a vehicle out of my budget almost entirely (still have to buy inner tubes every once in a while). With the money I'm saving this way, I have literally 1/3 of my cash flow as "free money" that I have been saving, investing, and putting into the things I need to start my own business or fuel my success. I can't emphasize enough that if your main stress in life is making ends meet, there's probably a way you can live a bit less comfortably but find even more comfort from being financially stable. Not having netflix, or youtube music, or a new pair of shoes, none of this matters to me when I'm sitting in a park in some of my thinking/brainstorming time and I don't have to even think about how to pay rent for one second. Being less comfortable is something you can get used to, and if that buys you the ability to think clearly about what you can do to achieve greater success then the value you get from the cheaper options is immeasurable.
