Ron Pratt why couldn't you just run your strap across the top of the rear doors? Or would that put too much strain on the frame

Can run it in front of the front seat too on 2-doors and it works going the other way running the strap behind the front seat.

@@Chronos70 I thought that as well. I would have thought the body around the door opening would be at least as strong as the back seat. In UK the rear seats are made of nothing and would be destroyed by that pull.

when I used to work for American Auto Part in Trenton NJ, we would have to tow fishing men out of the Delaware River. They would park by the river at low tide and walk to fish the river, come back to see the car or truck underwater. Always took diving mask to hook them up, some times you could see it some times not. Now that was real fun

I think drivers should be required to watch how it feels to be working on the side of highway so close to the traffic. Maybe then it would make sense for them to either move over or be able to stop to keep from creating a worse accident. Be safe and thanks for your service.

Good idea. Better yet, have them stand on the line at the shoulder of an interstate for 5 minutes and I guarantee that they will start slowing down and moving over. Thanks for your concern and thanks for watching. God bless.

Good job in a difficult situation. I noticed the big trucks slowed down and moved over - but the 4 wheelers didn't.. A good lesson instead of a fine would be 4 hrs. standing by the rear of your operation and let them see how dangerous it really is. Thanks for sharing.

Good job! This took me back to one I did on a January morning at 7 am when a lady spun her Mazda MX5 off the road on sheet ice and went down a railroad embankment. When I got there the car was 2 feet off the main Edinburgh to London railroad with trains flying past, and it was all tangled up in barbed wire, and fence wire with the fence posts still attached. After a lot of wire cutting I hauled it up same as you, but had no police present or no shoulder to park on. I had to cone the lane off well in advance and hope for the best. Luckily nobody hit me! Stay safe and God bless.

80. Brings back a lot of memories. Not all of them good as several times I would arrive before the ambulance. I wish that I had the C.P.R. and emergency first aid training then that I have now. I might have been able to save a few lives that I have had the misfortune to helplessly watch ebb away waiting for the ambulance to arrive. To this day the memory still brings a tears to my eyes. Hopefully you and yous have that type of training. I mostly really enjoyed doing that type of work. Always something new and challenging. I was mainly involved with heavy tow and recovery, a 1960's International Diesel twin screw with a Holms 750. So much different then. I had to quit because I could no longer support my growing family on starvation wages. I operated out of Davenport Iowa. Keep up the good work 'n God Bless.

just found these vids; your dedication to safety for everyone at the accident scenes is a life lesson every driver should learn before getting behind the wheel of any vehicle. @RonPratt
@RonPratt 7 жыл бұрын
The main reason was to decrease the amount of resistance. By placing the strap through the car, I could put the car in neutral and allow it to roll. If I had strapped the wheels, they would not have rolled and would have increased the resistance. It probably still could have been done by strapping the wheels. I chose to do it this way. There is always more than one way to recover a vehicle. Thanks for watching and God bless.

Here in Canada where I live, it is the law that you must slow down when emergency vehicles are displaying their red and blue lights. Tow truck drivers have one of the most dangerous jobs. While watching your video clip it was freaky to see how fast those cars where driving by. My hats of too you.

Hey Ron wouldn't you love to have a rotating rollback with a high winch
@Joshua79C
@Joshua79C 7 жыл бұрын
That would be a Side Puller, they come with longer wire rope at 100 foot length on the ones from In the Ditch which are in my opinion the best system out there, allows you to use the side pull action or use it as you do the deck winch when the deck unit conks, or even forgo the deck unit on a new wrecker and use just the ITD unit, In the last case all you need is a roller guide to redirect and maintain pull of the vehicle onto the deck and keep the rope from cutting in
@ReflexXTows
@ReflexXTows 7 жыл бұрын
Id go with a Side puller any day over one of those rotating beds. So much to go wrong with the rotating bed's its not even worth it from what iv seen atleast for recoverys. If it was standard roadside calls and you pull alot of cars from parking lots it would be nice, but if your working that truck good on a recovery i personally think the rotating bed is a bad bad idea, Now a side puller ideal and make 1 lane recoverys a breeze!
@jordanmpaul
@jordanmpaul 7 жыл бұрын
Ryan Snyder why would a rotating bed be bad? pull straight up, don't have to fight turning the car and centering on the bed, less chance of slide off on steep ditches

I would never presume anything in a crash. The driver could have swerved to avoid a head on collision with an overtaking car coming towards them, or had a heart attack, or a stroke or simply just had a violent sneeze. It could have been anything.

I assume the police contacted the owner. My guess is that the driver was intoxicated and did not want to own up to it. They might have reported it stolen as well. Either way - fishy circumstances.

There are many, such as this one, where we don't get paid. There is a lengthy paperwork process that must be performed before we can either file for a title or take the vehicle to a salvage yard. So, we lose money and time on jobs like this. However, it is something that we are working very hard to get changed through state regulations. Thanks for watching and God bless.

I just found your channel a few days ago. I know why there was a lot of G6's. During the Cash for Clunkers program, dealers had a surplus of Pontiac because people did not want the Pontiac due to them knowing that Pontiac was getting dropped. So some dealers was trying to push out the Pontiac line to get rid of the surplus during this. They did the same thing with the Pontiac G5 too. I know this because a few family members of mine got a G5's and G6's during that program.
