I had trouble with my pencil lines till I swapped to a blue watercolour pencil. That helped. Thanks for the great videos.

Just found this, it really appeals to me. Didn’t know this technique existed! I will have to try it although I have a feeling that you made it look much easier than it is 😁☺️

I hope you give it a go, it is fun - simple shapes are easiest but it's possible to get some really lovely results with this method.

I really enoyed this and tried it. Drawing first made it easier. I used a watercolour pencil to avoid graphite pencil marks. It worked! You are so patient while explaining. Thanks, Lou! PS: How do you like that W&N field box? I an thinking of getting one, as it has so many muxing wells. Is it too bulky?

Hi, so glad you enjoyed this, great idea to use a watercolour pencil! I do like the cotman set, I think the one I have is the 'pocket plus', the field box has an extra water container which I don't have. I do like having the extra space for mixing because you get the detachable tray, and it's not significantly bigger than the sketchers set.

Awesome tutorial. But I feel the ish that are the lightest… should have prominent standing out color in scales and other details… ? So you can see them more compared to the darker ones .. what do you think ?

Great tutorial. Have you tried using layers of masking fluid To build up the fish? It would maybe help with setting which bits to avoid. Although I've always had mixed results with masking fluid.

Thank you, I think for more complex designs that would be the way to go!
