In the early days of KZfaq, the platform was pretty much viral cat videos. Polished, well-produced content was virtually nonexistent. Funny enough, some of the first technically well-made KZfaq content to break through the sea of mediocrity were FAKE how-to videos created by production duo "Fatal Farm". Their series "Infinite Solutions" consisted of misleading how-to guides that appeared legit on the surface but would peddle out bad information and instructions causing viewers to waste time if they attempted to follow along. Due to how well the joke was disguised, the infinite solutions channel was treated as an unironic instructional channel in the youtube algorithm resulting in millions of people being trolled by their videos. One of infinite solutions most notorious guides was hot to install Google TV Beta, a service that didnt exists. The buzz created by this fake Google TV video got so insane, that google themselves had to make a public statement affirming to the public that google tv wasn't even a real thing. Today we will be looking back at the infinite solutions legacy, and its creators.

This is the type of trolling that I like. The worst thing that can happen is that you waste your time and feel a bit silly for believing it. Much better than the ones that try to get people to break their stuff (like drilling into an iPhone to find the headphone jack) or the really dangerous ones that could get people hurt (like how to make cool crystals). A simple, honest troll - it's almost wholesome.

@@trhd-hr1qm No, the original "I'm on a horse" Old Spice ads that went viral starred Isaiah Mustafa. Then later there were other ads in the same vein, including ones with Terry Crews, which are not as well remembered. So they directed the Terry Crews ones, not the Isaiah Mustafa ones.

I was subscribed to infinite solutions back then and they just stopped doing videos, which is a shame. Most of the hoaxes were obvious, but I love the minesweeper hoax, that one had me completely fooled.

@@F_C... 100% I used to fix old rental games all the time. It will leave a lot of fine scratches but it gets rid of the big ones that actually stop the disc from being read. I got a free copy of GTA 3 for the PS2 that way. I dug it out of the trash at a car wash.

yeah. I want to find the idea for my next craft project, just for the half of the results being the 5minute crafts junk, a quarter being something crazily expensive to do, and only 1/4 being something doable. Some of 5 minute crafts videos are dangerous to do yourself, and I really hope that nobody died trying.

Simple plug in for your browser and you can see the dislikes. They aren't 100% accurate but when the dislikes are extremely high you'll know no one likes it.

I have all my ad stuff turned off so they are just throwing stuff at the wall but I find it rude that if they can demonitize you because they think your stuff isn't friendly to an advertiser but they can put whatever weirdo ad on your video they want.

I started on KZfaq around the same time (in 2006) and I have no recollection of these videos...weird. That's pretty funny though. I remember a video coming out much later (made by somebody else, I think) where they taught you how to recharge your phone by putting it in the microwave...and the amount of people that fell for this was astonishing. How dumb does one have to be?

A lot of content is now gone and removed by KZfaq when it's uploaded-the expression of certain opinions is now considered to be a transgression (a significant portion of historical revisionist/"conspiracy theorist" content has been wiped out), trolling is now often a ToS violation because it's supposedly bullying or misinformation, frivolous copyright claims have plagued the platform and led to the loss of a lot of content, etc.

I'm not the type to comment on videos, I usually like and lurk. This is video is a great example of the type of content I enjoy and they're the reason why I use KZfaq. The fact that creators struggle with censorship, exposure, and being fairly compensated for ad revenue makes me frustrated with the platform. I hate that I have to leave a comment just for the sake of manipulating an algorithm that doesn't even benefit the audience I'm a part of. That being said, here we are. Keep up the good work and fight the good fight.

Very wholesome. I am a fellow Gen X er but had the priviledge of being on BBS boards at age 16 arguing with older nerds about Star Trek and then married young into a family of early IT professionals. I watched the internet grow to where it is now, and I would not trade that experience. However, you are probably a far happier, less doomer person than I. Your different prospective is valuable. I remember the Google TV hoax from back in the day, because I initially fell for it. But then I watched a few more of their videos, and realized I had been duped. Ah, the days of early KZfaq. It really was the Wild West back then. Didn’t know Fatal Farms did the Old Spice commercials though. Neat!

I remember my brother tried wrapping a network cable around a phone to boost the WiFi signal 🤣 It really was a different time back then, and they looked professional. They also had a hoax how to get windows 7 early if I remember correctly. Didn't know they were behind the Old Spice ads, those were amazing.

Dang, I was just thinking about these guys recently. I remember watching the iTunes video back in the day. It took me a minute to realize the channel was a parody, which definitely got more obvious as it went along. Excellent trolling. They don't make 'em like this anymore.

I absolutely love that they went from basically a parody of a parody to legitimately creating some of the best known modern TV commercials in the form of the absolutely insane Old Spice ads. It's like The Onion. SO many of the people that appear in those early Onion vidoes are now major successes.

I am not crazy! I know they faked those videos! I knew it was prerecorded. The keyboard didn’t match. As if I could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! I just - I just couldn't prove it. Fun fact if you sign into Twitter from your PS3 you can set the date forward by one week which lets me see all the draft posts that haven’t been finalized yet, which let me click the link to this video when it was still unlisted, bypassing all pay walls for early access. It’s a bit tricky but if you turn the WiFi off right the orange light flashes 6 or 7 times then restart the ps3 it should work after a few times. This time it took 13 tries. This only works with Twitter and the ps3 tho. Probably why Sony wants to shut down the ps3 since it and Twitter are miles behind on UI functions on the new 5 g.

I remember having an internship at a tech company around the time the channel popped up. Of course I knew a lot of the videos were jokes and sent it to my boss at the time. He actually believed a few of the tricks, I literally caught him wrapping his phone around with an Ethernet cord, I had to run into the bathroom to laugh my head off. Ended up telling him later the whole channel was fake and at first he was mad but then he laughed it up. Good times.

Infinite solutions was a classic. If you watched a lot of the videos they become more and more hilarious. The minesweeper one would easily fool someone, but others like how to spend a weekend in NYC for $10 made it more obvious. The retro intro was the first thing I remember laughing at. It’s like “you suck at photoshop”. Anyone remember that?

PLEASE talk about Jesse Ridgeway aka McJuggerNuggets and his oldest video series because that shit had me hooked as a 14-16 year old. I was SO convinced. He's still making videos but nothing can beat his first series and how much effort he put into making it seem like legit family drama. At least enough to fool then teenagers like myself. He actually did a long awaited video collaboration with the wafflepwn channel earlier this year. Another series I was hooked on as a teen. I don't watch his content anymore but it was such a cool throwback and so meta to see that video finally happen this year. The fact that both channels are still active to this day is serious dedication that I think is really cool to see.

It's easier than you think to fool people. About 10 years ago, I noticed that a blue fuzzy coat I had tossed over my couch arm, contrasted against a white wall, looked just like the Blue Ridge Mountains, with the folds in the coat appearing just like rolling peaks. I photographed and posted it on my social media site, then to my astonishment, my online friends were talking seriously about how my "mountains" looked just as beautiful as when they had visited them. One person was even moved to link to a film from the 1930s of a song about the Blue Ridge. Blown away by how this had happened in just 10 minutes, I had to fess up, lest my "nature" photography go viral and win some award, or the state of Virginia download it for their tourism promotions. I honestly did not think anyone would be fooled. Be careful.

All this channel does is make me upset at all the amazing stuff I'm almost twenty years behind on. This shit is fucking amazing, the battery recharge video is genius, and if I had seen this when it originally came out this might have been some of my favorite comedy creations ever. It's as good as Monty Python, and the state, and kids in the hall, and upright citizens brigade, and lonely island, and all the other stuff that helped shape comedy. Love this channel, it really helps out of touch boobs catch up on stuff that they really wish they had been on top of when it was actually relevant, and maybe it's even helping give it a second life.
