In the last video we dropped off a 1938 Ford Coupe at the Early Ford V8 Museum, and we obviously can't drive home with an empty trailer. The comments in the last video had almost no guess for the 1932 Ford Roadster that was hidden in the one shot. This amazing 32 Roadster was an award winning restoration, including a near 1,000 point Dearborn judging. After it won a few awards, the previous owner toured it heavily, and drove across the county. The museum was given the opportunity to sell the car on consignment and Matt happened to be at the right time right place. the 32 Roadster is a Deluxe model with a 4 cylinder and dual spare tires. We are not sure on the the plans for the car, and would love to hear your thoughts on what we should do!!

Matt....Leave it as is! I owned this car for 15 years. I can give you a lot of history of it. The electrical draw was probably the head light switch was in the "On" position. There is no voltage regulator on the car. It has a "cut out" type switch on the top of the generator. They do go bad. They can be replaced with a diode style cut out. If the horn is sounding when you turn the wheel the horn rod may be bent a little. Enjoy it! I was in Auburn yesterday and missed seeing the roadster!

Take your time deciding and enjoy it just the way it is. Since 1976 we have been the custodians of my DY's Grandmother's first new car, a black & cream 53' Crestline Victoria, (the last flathead), unrestored, just as Henry built it. Wouldn't have it any other way, they are only original once.

What a great purchase! What to do with it is simple. It’s yours to do with as you wish. But…..How many ‘32 roadsters as nice as this one are around today. They are few and far between and difficult to find any for sale. It is much easier to find “compromised” examples than factory original examples. For me the choice would be to keep it original for myself or send it down the road to someone who would appreciate it as is.

Once again Mike adds in the perfect period music to accompany their trip home with an absolutely stunningly beautiful old Roadster. Something tells me it's found its permanent home. I think it would be a sin if Matt ever sold it. But he is running a business so I hope it goes to someone who will seriously appreciate that they've bought a great piece of history.

Very nice find, Matt! I'd honestly be part of the "drive it as-is" crowd, but I think a good compromise would be to go for bolt-on/easily reversible hotrod mods and hold onto all the original parts. Have some fun with it, but allow for it to be easily put back to original for the next guy who decides to buy it.

This car is a well-used and very remarkable survivor. I think it should be fixed up and kept as-is. As we see from so many of your great videos, there are plenty of already heavily altered '32s out there, and a plethora of appropriate parts just sitting in corners of garages or dumps, itching to be part of a hotrod project. This baby is lovely to behold and I'm sure to tinker with and especially to drive.

As a fellow vintage ford mechanic and hot rodder I think I would do whatever I wanted to with it. Most of my customers are in the 55-85 age group and can’t find many younger kids that are getting into the hobby. Pull the fenders and do an early hot rod. I wouldn’t do anything that can’t be changed back.

I was positive it was the '32. Gorgeous machine and probably more reliable with the six rather than the troublesome first run '32 flathead V8. I was surprised that you ran it low on gas. I did that once with a '64 Impala I had as a teen and was reprimanded strongly for letting the gas go low and drag in tank sediment. OH, absolutely do not hot-rod it! There are oceans of those out there. Any original must be preserved as such at this point.

Yeah its too nice to hot rod at this point. For it to survive all these years and never get hot rodded is quite a achievement, especially with the 4 banger its nice to have a few examples of restored original cars to truly show how it was like when the cars were new. If you do decide to change it up, just do stuff that can easily be reversed to go back to stock.

@@IronTrapGarage still for it to be restored, especially with a 4 banger its kind of neat to see, its a neat oddity like seeing a stock 40/41 Willys that your reminded that they actually didnt come with a blown hemi and a nose high straight axle, lol. Although since the roadster was built to tour in the 90s and has had things like juice brakes and cut the center out where the mechanical breaks come together, I find that enough for me to at least take the fenders off and start bolting on speed stuff, lol.

I was thinking that too, but they already have book's on every nut and bolt to build them. Most of them have something a little different about them. Here in California In San Francisco there's a little shop that still presses out the steel and builds about 6 car's a year from 1932-34's. They have older folks working in the shop. The only thing is they build them with power breaks and power steering up for every day driving. They look just like what Matt bought. They sold to a few Celebrities, like BB King, Gorge Locus, Eastwood, few musician's yeah they have a long waiting list if anyone wants a car built because they put out 6 car's a year. You can take a tour of there shop if your ever in San Francisco.

Okay, how about the 40's style hot-rod treatment, but with two caveats? Don't cut up the body, just do the motor and suspension, so (for purists) it's a reversable upgrade. Second: leave it a four cylinder. There must have been a few aftermarket shops in the late 40s catering to young men without the V-8 option. Carb, cam, exhaust, maybe higher compression or bigger ports. What would a guy just back from the war do with it?

I'm seeing a full blown Ardurn stuffed under that pristine hood, the heads poking thru carefully crafted holes in hood, maybe behind some blisters... going to need some beefier wheels, maybe some wide fives, or artillery wheels, in the same Apple green, with white walls. Better throw in a quick change rear as well. A two inch chop, for that sneaky sleek look... I could go on, I suspect someone will want to rescue it from us dangerous Hot Rodders.

Someone put a lot of time, effort and money into restoring this car to close to original spec and to hot rod it would be a travesty, just as it would be to pull the Delorian roadsters apart to restore it to original. Both are equally important and regardless of what we pay for our historic vehicles we are just temporary custodians.

But yet loads and loads of historic hot rods were restored and taken back to original in the past 30-40 years and no one cries for those cars?
@ReevesRovers

But that was 30/40 years ago and hopefully now the classic car world has grown up and today those cars would be valued for what they are, just as original cars should be. Now if a documented original period hot rod appeared which had been "restored" to original in less enlightened times wouldn't it be great to put it back to how it was as a hot rod? @@IronTrapGarage

Datum line, the original or starting point. This is an original vehicle, the starting point of all the various builds that came after it. How many of these original Model B Roadsters are there? Modifying it in any way would make the auto another "one of many". Possible exceptions would be items to help keep it in stable condition, example Optima battery. "If it ain't broke,don't fix it", would be my vote on this auto. You at Irontrap, are the custodians of an era of hot rods. This particular car needs to be seen by the current generation of hot rodders, as well as those who will follow us. This should be a key item it the "Irontrap Garage Collecton".
