We bought the cheapest Audi in England! We got this 2004 Audi A4 Sport Avant for less than a train trip from London to Leeds, but was this a good idea? What could and went wrong?

Bob picked up the Audi A4 B6 Avant with the legendary 1.9TDI for a whole £100!
It needed a few fixes, but having done that, a remap, chucked on some spacers, and new tyres and it's awesome!

Really enjoyed this, have run Golfs, Octavias for years but A4 B6 better. Similar fuel economy and better than many modern CR diesels of this size. Rovers, Mondeos, Sierras, Vectras, Cavaliers, E34s, E39s, B5s etc have all become or are all becoming classics from having been mainstream and this is just as worthy. Would be interested to know if you persevered with this and what you've done with it. I hope you stick with it.

You can't beat a B6 A4 , I think its a timeless shape, I've got a B6 S4 , and I'm going to buy a 1.9 tdi to get to work and back :)....subbed

Thanks for the sub! Agree on the B6, ours is quite special with it's pricing but even regular models represent amazing 2nd hand value! It also made me far more interested in Audi with a B5/B6 S4 now definitely being on my bucket list! ¬ Adrian

@@RebelClassics yea they are a beast! Cost a fortune to run but worth it, luckily mines a 3rd car and gets run every now and again, if your not far from lincs your welcome to a blast, mines got a milltek non res fitted... Sounds awesome 👌

@@wafty6435 Sounds brilliant! We are based in Clay Cross , North Derbyshire so not that far! Would love to take you up on the offer once we get out of the various tiers and lockdowns! We actually run a 'car stories' series on the channel which we could feature the car in!

I don’t believe it was £100? You can get more than that taking it to a scrapyard. Great cars, I have the Quattro version.

Paid 200 quid for mine 5 years ago with 200k on it scrapped it last year. Been that upset ever since I've just bought this model today I'm buzzing.

Please say you put better headbolts in that when you mapped it. The 130 headbolts are not strong enough when its been mapped so youll get headlift. Also the 1.9 8v pd130 can make good power aswell, im running 250bhp and 370ft-lb in one on a mk4 golf estate and 300bhp and 400ft-lb on a vw bora 🤙🏻

Hi Daniel! We are aware of the stock headbolts being 'meh', we haven't replaced them yet though. The car is being driven rather gently for now as it will also need a new clutch eventually (original has 130k miles and 16 years + now has to deal with 40% more power it will need to be swapped), plan is to find a quattro donor and kill 2 bird with one stone by doing all the clutch & drivetrain swap work in one go. Till then the car is mostly cruising at... 70mph up and down the motorway. PS Your cars sound great!

I have the 1.9 avant Quattro remapped no headlift whatsoever.

would love to get another one, had my 2002 for 14 of its 20 years never broke down once, engine still gave 60mpg on long run , BUT the front subframe rotted tried for weeks to get a replacement , absolutely ZERO good ones available and they do not make aftermarket front subframe for b6, or new ones tried countless scrapyards and every one had been scrapped for the same reason, so anyone out there know if there is any aftermarket ones available in 2023, would not buy one of the few remaining if the subframes are non existent
