It's crazy how we make excuses for ourselves, and subconsciously trick ourselves into thinking it's ok to do, or not do things.

About the playing like a child part, we ought to strive to be child-like, but not childish. We should enjoy life as children do, but be able to maintain our other responsibilities. Also, to your theory about people being more depressed now because they don't get outside often enough; I absolutely agree. I work outside, presently doing seasonal work, and I rarely feel any sort of depression. Maybe sometimes I feel saddened because of something or another, but those are usually my self impositions on others and not the actual situation. Being outside and exercising or playing or whatever is good for us in all spiritually, bodily, and mentally.

Just like how people in the car community go out and do wild things with their cars and all that especially circuit racing. We definitely like our toys, just that they get bigger and we never grow up from our childlike behavior.

Whenever I go out to skate or for a walk I feel like "damn that feels good, I'm gonna do it everyday from now on" but then on the next day I still have to force myself to do so. It's like no matter how awesome the experience will be, I still am somehow not convinced about the power of it. Maybe it's simple lazyness.

I remember when I was a kid and was walking on this pretty simple but long "hiking" session with my family, I wasn't interested and my feet were absolutely drained. Now doing the same trail as an older young lad doesn't seem nearly as bad, even if it was still 4 hours, it was also much more enjoyable because I actively knew how valuable slowing down my senses is Nothing can beat nature. Period.

Honestly, your videos are among the types of videos that I love best. No omniscient force tyna enslave your puny attention span, just a guy who's got something thought provoking to say, saying something over some nice music, in some nice scenery (sometimes). And I know that some people prefer the "Minecraft" ambience to what you do now (to be fair they are pretty relaxing), but I feel that as you work more towards your channel, it's slowly becoming what you want it to become (as clearly evident in this video), and quite frankly, I'm loving it. Keep doing what your doing man. As for going outside, I'll try take your advice more. Although I live in a not so (movement free?) country, I can't deny how relaxing it can be to just take a walk, or maybe just sit outside, and let your mind wander. Hell even as a wee boy I remember simply just running round my house being quite fun. That's something I don't want to want to take foregranted, regardless of how stressful it can be sometimes just to get up . And yes, Josh thinks the music slaps

A lot of things that you know are good for you, you genuinely have to force yourself to do, even when you know you enjoyed doing it the last time. I find this difficult. I think forcing yourself to do things can be a good strength, and I think that skill will just develop overtime. I feel like nowadays people take the easier routs, or the boredom killers, like short-form content for example, but this will never help in the long run. This is an inspiring ass video man, and I think that you should keep doing these, just sprinkling them in every now and then, for the ones who enjoy these!

Before covid, i always hated going to school, going outside, and etc. When the 2 week lockdown arrived, i felt so happy that i can stay in my house. But the 2 weeks became a whole month, and became lots of months. Once the lockdown's over, i felt really weird going outside, its like my first time touching the outside world

This was a great video, even better than your last couple ones! The music was great and the clips of the woods were also cool. I absolutely agree with this. And I don't even think that you even necessarily have to be doing things outside. As long as you're not staring at a screen, and you're doing something actually fun, and something actually natural, then you will feel so much happier. For example, I myself recently decided to stop wasting hours of my life on social media. I had been struggling to think of anything else to do for a while, and then one day, I remembered what I used to do when I was a little kid: I would build Lego stuff and make stopmotion movies of it. And for a second I thought, "I'm too old for that. There's no way I can play with Lego at my age [I'm a teenager just for context btw]." And then I thought, "Wait. What? I'm never too old to have fun. Who cares that I'm older than I used to be?" And so that day, I simply spent hours building Lego stuff for a stopmotion movie. I'm considering uploading some stopmotion stuff to KZfaq soon too. Over the past couple days, I haven't been on social media even once (except for now obviously and I was just watching a flowstate video so that doesn't count XD), and already I feel so much happier. As long as you're doing something natural and creative, you will feel so much better. And being outside probably helps a lot too. It's harder work, and less rewarding in the short run, but in the long run, it will be infinitely better than wasting time on social media.

@nebulabunny86332 ай бұрын
Going outside is not accessible for a lot of people. And even if you can drive an hour to go to some forest- just to, I dunno, walk? The trip by itself is draining and going camping is not really an option for many. And the cities are slowly becoming more and more hostile to people who walk or bike. Tons of cars, huge streets. Everything is made for vehicles. There's also the dangers of some stranger doing something horrible to you. We don't feel safe outside anymore. Especially women. And it's not something you can solve by carrying a weapon as some might suggest- the experience is still traumatizing even if you turn out okay. Even in the damn woods there is a chance to run into someone unsavory. I guess as a kid you just aren't aware of or look past the dangers. And for teens? Everyone is hostile to teens, even if they're not doing anything. They can't go to public spaces, and even if they want to go roller skating or they want to go to a bowling alley, it's super expensive. So they just play videogames, do calls and stay inside.
@flowstatevideo2 ай бұрын
Yeah it's not accessible for everyone, but not everyone is in that situation. A lot of people have the privilege of being in nature, but they choose not to.

0:45 I agree with your overall message but I must say that the way that people (and it’s definitely not just you) nowadays are constantly phrasing “having depression” as a replacement for “feeling depressed” as a result of various lifestyle factors kinda bugs me as a person with clinical depression. For people actually dealing with depression, it isn’t caused by their lifestyle, although certain lifestyles may worsen it. But anyway, just had to say that because I hear people using this term in that way so often and I wish there was more understanding…but regardless, still a great vid. Love your content man
