I’m so glad you never drop name and location of these places, it’s nice to just see them like this without vandalism and theft going on. It’s also neat to see a newly abandoned place! Most places I’ve seen are a few years old or so but this is so recent.

This reminds me of the restort I work at. We have 2 hotels, a main luxe one and a smaller more budget one. We had close temporarily the small one due to covid, reopening it only during the summer for golf players. But last fall when it closed for the winter, it never reopened. So the stuff is still all layed out kind of like in this video, because staff didn't think the place would close for good when they left for what was supposed to be just a few months.

Our homeless problem could be resolved by restoring and converting these abandoned places.

You really give off a different vibe while exploring, because you give attention to detail in some things. Especially mentioning how the towel were neatly set up and the beds and the buffet tables, when us guys go exploring we would just mention the room is set up as it would be ready for the next day. Great job.

Why didn’t they sell the property instead of just abandoning it with everything inside?

I have done some additional research on this particular case and while I don’t know what sales taxes typically are for hotels like this one, but I have to wonder why the tax authorities let this hotel’s balance due get to over $200,000 before they took action? Why didn’t they take drastic action against the owner long before the tax balance due reached this level? Also, why was this hotel shut down in such an inhuman, outrageous manner? I have read that the delinquent taxes were only a part of the issue, but punish the hotel’s owner, not his innocent customers!! Why couldn’t they have waited until the morning to inform the guests and cancel any who had reservations for additional nights!? The guests are not responsible for the financial problems and delinquent taxes of the hotel’s owner? Since checking the tax payment status of a hotel before making a reservation is not something the typical hotel consumer does, and this sort of information would not be available to them even if they wanted to, why rouse them from a deep sleep in the rooms they’ve paid their hard-earned money for and toss them out of the street in the middle of the night because of things that are the hotel owner’s fault!? Paying any hotel’s taxes is not any guest’s responsibility - and either is the financial position of the hotel either!
