People actually think increasing lanes is going to create less traffic while it actually just facilitates more people driving and is ridiculously expensive in the long run because asphalt doesn't last forever. Allowing people to walk, bike or take a train to work is what decreases traffic in a sustainable way.

@CalebCarman3 жыл бұрын
@@chriswatson1698 You're talking about globalization, which is how corporations of rich capitalist countries exploit the labor and resources of the global south. That's why people try to flee those countries to come to Europe, Australia, or the United States in the first place; they are escaping the devastating effects of imperialism. It's a choice they made, and sometimes it's the only choice they have. Whether they or their parents pay for roads is irrelevant. The fact is, roads are for everyone to use, and we all have to use them. It's the government's responsibility to levy taxes in an equitable manner, but if anyone is worth taxing more, it's the super-rich.

The migrants are not causing the problem. The state & federal governments have not spent money on road, rail & public transport infrastructure for way too long & now it's catching up with them.
@chriswatson16983 жыл бұрын
So you want the descendants of the people who built Australia's institutions and infrastructure, to be taxed more heavily to pay for roads and public transport for the benefit of recently arrived foreigners? Of course migrants are to blame for the congestion of our roads and public transport! Our transport infrastructure wasn't congested until our governments gave our country away to foreigners from cultures that gave the world FGM, honour killings, child marriage, the caste system, foot-binding, etc.
@frednutz16043 жыл бұрын
@@chriswatson1698 "Tax more heavily"? I didn't say that or even imply that. The state & federal governments have channeled monies for this type of infrastructure elsewhere & not on to the roads etc that the taxes were originally paid for, like stamp duty & GST on your rego & fuel. Fuel taxes are huge yet SWA goes back into roads. The migrant intake has grown faster than the infrastructure due to lack of Gov spending is all I'm saying.
@chriswatson16983 жыл бұрын
@@frednutz1604 I know exactly what you are saying. You want our tax revenues to be spent on alleviating the problems caused by our big intake of foreigners, instead of being spent on services for the benefit of the Australian-born.
@frednutz16043 жыл бұрын
@@chriswatson1698 No that is not what I'm saying. What I am saying is the governments of this great land we call Australia have not done enough with the revenues they received from our taxes over the past few decades & now it's catching up with them. Taxes & levies have gone up but spending on infrastructure has not kept up.

ok so drivers have really not yet figured this traffic thing out... you're in a car, going several car lengths per second or more. There is a car in front of you... LEAVE 6-8 car lengths between the car in front of you when the road is packed. otherwise leave even more distance between you and cars. This makes passing other cars possible for speedier drivers and therefore eliminates competition to be in front and road stress. here is the logic, from a standing perspective, highway cars are going by really fast. from the highway perspective, looking only at clusters of speeding cars may have more of a parking lot effect than cars moving quickly towards or away from each other. Lets picture this highway scene as a parking lot instead. Cars can now only roll 2-3 car lengths before colliding with parked cars around them. now imagine a parking lot filled with cars spaced out 8 car lengths creating a grid of cars you can drive between and around. Imagine this grid on roads instead.
