Landscape Photography is hard, there's a reason cameras have delete buttons! And if you want to guarantee yourself a lifetime of landscape photography pain, then this is the way to go about it.....or, watch this, learn from my photography mistakes, and sidestep it completely.

Thought provoking as always Dave - completely agree with all the points. It's crucial to recognises your own weaknesses in order to improve, but they shouldn't be dwelled upon and we shouldn't beat ourselves up about it too much at the time. Going to have to check out that location too. 🙂

Nice collection of thoughts mate. Perfection doesn’t exist in my book either :) sometimes frustration can get the better of us that’s for sure, but it’s also motivating at the same time to do better in the future. All part of the journey like you said. Cheers

Dave, I absolutely love your honesty, and the simplicity with which you put points like this across. Another really valuable vlog, that’s helped me rethink about where I’m at in my journey. I’ve been struggling with motivation and a bit of imposter syndrome lately, your vlog has indeed thrown me into a better thought process. Thank you 😊

Thanks Martin....I've been there with the imposter syndrome - and still struggle with it on occasion , but for the time being at least, have made my peace with it. The funny thing about it is, bad photographers don't suffer with it! Hope this warm forecast for the next few days helps get you back out with your camera :)

Wise words, Dave. I think I've spent most of today thinking 'what if' - I've been shooting Blackpool with two fixed lens film point and shoots. Several times, I've wished I had a different camera and or lenses 😮. I'm sure I'll be happy with the images though....😂 . I still love plenty of my old images, but I definitely have more knowledge as a photographer (still more to learn though).

Thanks mate.....well that answers a question I was going to message you - I saw on your other channel a couple days back that you were heading to Blackpool soon and I meant to message to see if you had a bit of free time whilst there and I'd make the journey...never mind, hope you had a blast - was actually doing a job at the tower a few days back, always fun there

@Let's Click Photography ah, that would have been good for a meet up. It was just a one night stay with the Mrs, so I just squeezed in a bit of photography around that. I did try out the live composite feature on my newly purchased TG-6 on the night too. We did have a pop past Mary's Shell on the way home but nor the weather or the tide were in my favour.

Great thoughts here mate. I'm pretty good with not beating myself up on locally taken images, however I do the "what-if" or "I should have" thing a lot from my travel images quite a bit. But wise words to use it as a learning experience for the next visit to that location, or a similar location. As you said, it's all part of the journey. Great video mate...and I really like that waterfall image, but I'll like the next one from that location more, because you'll be better by then 😂 Chat soon pal!

Cheers mate...I actually thought about going back and doing it again the last time I was up there. In the end I decided not to, I figured that going back and redoing it would actually take some of the good nostalgia feeling I have away from this shot.....never say never though haha

Ah Dave another topic for us to discuss on our next meet up ! If Only - Hazel O’Connor - great tune from the 80s popped into my head watching this ! I’ve been out thrice since our street adventure and looking back through the images I’ve taken recently there have been many what ifs and if onlys 😂 Hopefully managed to get a few half decent ones and I certainly wouldn’t have captured any if I hadn’t gone out and I’m happy with did happen and maybe just a tad of the lusting after what didn’t 😂 but take your point ! Plenty learning for me ! Great food for thought and on the menu to chat about next time 👍🏻
