The Phantom's canted wingtips are a weak link for many F-4 kits, with vague, wobbly fit. The ancient Hasegawa kits managed to get around it by just making them part of the whole wing. But more recent tools have separated them, to mixed success.
How do Zoukei-Mura and Meng stack up in their handling of the wingtips?

Great series and excellent comparison between the two kits and how the wing tips are treated. Watching the ZM piece go in I found myself saying "YGBSM"!

No contest there agreed. Trying to get a good top and bottom fit while maintaining the 12.5 degree tilt is not something anyone would want to play with - great series really enjoyable

Definitely, next to Tamiya, the newer Meng kits are amazing!

It looks like Meng is applying all their experience from their Gundam kits and the old snap fit 1/48 P-51D. There's lots of great engineering in their kit, there are some shortcomings . . .The RWR on the wingtips are correct on the ZM kit. Meng missed it. But I hate having to fix fit issues . . .

It's seems that the mung/meng kit is winning overall. I'll take superior fit over details any day of the week.

While both kits have downfalls.....neither one blows the other one away, the deal breaker for me overall is the one piece fuselage that MENG offers.....the rest......can be dealt with or replaced.
