Weatherby Vanguard 270 vs plate at 600 yards.

The rifle is a Weatherby Vanguard Deluxe chambered for the mighty 270 Winchester. Optical sight is a Leupold VX-3i 4.5-14x50 with a 30mm main tube and a duplex reticle.

I just bought the same rifle on clearance at Walmart for $350. If your can find them in stock, you can get the wood stock for $350 or the synthetic stock for $250. It is a great time to pick one of them up. I can't wait to get out to the range next week. Only thing I am waiting for is the scope mounts. Nice rifle, and nice shooting

Thanks. This is actually my first Weatherby rifle. I promise you, it wont be my last. I think the next on the list is a series 2 carbine in 7mm-08 I want to get in to long range target shooting. I think that would be a great route to take. A 1000 yard rifle (with rings and optic) for around $1k.

The rifle will absolutely make 1000 yard shots. I’ve knocked the 18 inch gong on several occasions with this gun/optic combo. At the time this video was filmed I had only had this rifle for a couple of weeks and was still getting dialed in. It’s currently zeroed at 260 yards which gives me a point blank hold out to 400 yards. For me, in my environment, that’s ideal for the mule deer and pronghorn I go after.

Hey I’m thinking of buying a Weatherby Vanguard .270 Magnum. It has a Leupold 6-18x40 on it. What is a good deal for that rifle? It’s used but still in awesome shape. Thanks

J V Sorry for the delay in replying. Hectic work schedule. To the best of my knowledge, the current production Vanguard series II are not available in the 270 Weatherby chambering. They’re only available in 270 Winchester. That must mean you must be looking at a Mark V or an early production of the Vanguard. I couldn’t really help you with assigning a value without more information. My advice would be to check any one of a number of online auction sites and see what the rifles are bringing currently. Does the stock have a shrink film over it?

No. The stock is just that well finished. High polished luster.

Well, we've all got to start somewhere. Working 70-80 hours per week doesn't leave me with much time to focus on video production. I'd like to build this into something that I can be proud of, perhaps even make money from. It's a learning process. I actually filmed what I thought was a very interesting and lengthy video on my Type 38. All of the footage was corrupted. Keep trying I guess. Feel free to stop back by at any time. Cheers!
