OK, I just copied that from a car commercial for a disclaimer. We stopped at the top of Webster Pass after running Red Cone Trail. I had my camera boom rigged up and hit record. After getting down the first switchback from the top, I realized that my GoPro didn’t record! I was a little perturbed because I really wanted that quality footage from Webster Pass on down with my camera boom on this shelf road. So what did I do? I told Camron and Bill on the radio, “Hold on a couple minutes. I’m going to run back up to the top to film this and I will be back in a few.”
Camron replied on the radio, “Oh my word, what you won’t do for a good video!”
Here it is. My version of a Baja speed run up the last switchback on the Webster Pass shelf road

Took Webster on a fall weekday from Breck over to 285 in 2020. In a FULL SIZED Chevy 1500 truck!!! Got sooooo lucky not to meet anyone coming down the east side. Wasn't until I got to the bottom when I read the sign not for full size. Ha. BS. Did fine and only puckered twice.

@@gustafpeyron that is what I was going to say! Like Pikes Peak! Oh man we should do this. Red Cone to Webster Pass. Up Radical Hill. Middle fork Swan River to SOB Hill and then down Georgia Pass. It would have to be hush hush. Like a secret society because the Forest Service would not approve.

Thanks buddy! It really took no time at all. I think I could have ran it faster in a new Bronco! I bet it would have done WAY better

@@Colorado4x4 Early reports on the Bronco look really good for running trails at higher speeds……..we’ll see. If they can ever get that Webasto hardtop issue fixed, I might actually get one!

@@Colorado4x4 Haven’t watched him but will. TFL took theirs up Red Cone last week but didn’t have the whole trail on video. They primarily showed the rock crawling in the early stage, where I’m guessing your new friends in the video tomorrow got stuck!

It is a great area! Not as many people as the San Juan’s (still busy though) and there are a lot of trails that connect

You literally did the widest and easiest part of the shelf road. Why didn’t you also film the lower portion that is super narrow and do a speed run on it as well? Your video was not even half of the full shelf road on Webster’s Pass. Don’t get me wrong, it looked like fun but I was expecting the full shelf road from the title of the video.

@@Colorado4x4, okay my bad. I missed that part. I saw the title and clicked on the video. We just did Webster’s Pass to Radical Hill to Saints John Trail a few weeks ago. As we started up the shelf road we had 2 Broncos coming down. They refused to move even though we had the right of way and to avoid a traffic jam in both directions we had to back down the most narrow part of the shelf road. That was the sketchiest thing I have ever done off roading before.

That sucks man. I hate that crap. At least there is a good pullout right down hill of the narrow washed out spot. About 10 years ago I ripped a sidewall coming down that starting just a little ways down Webster and had to drive that spot on my rim to the turnout. Not fun

I had to hurry because I forgot to hit the record button on the GoPro. I realized this when we got down into tree line. Some other people in the group wanted to go down quickly and they were getting impatient. I wanted to film this for you, but I also didn’t want to make the others wait. That would be rude. So, I quickly buzzed up to the top and then back down again! Lickety split. And here we are.
