Great video as always, gentle reminder for new canners that the USDA hasn't tested new products which is why they aren't "approved." It is very expensive to properly test these and we've cut their budget to the point they can't justify using the money for the small amount of home canners when they could be doing inspections of meat shops that more people are using products from.

Wreck jars are adorable! I don’t have any and probably won’t get any, unless I find them at an estate sale, etc. BTW, we don’t give a flying fig what others think. You have a homestead and that is that! You are one person and you don’t need lots of land, animals and huge gardens! ❤️

I’m hoping I can find some at garage sales or on FB Matketplace! And thank you Jackie-I believer homesteading is more about self sufficient y that size of land, etc. ❤️

My all time favorite kitchen towels are the cotton ones from William Sonoma. I shop at a store near my home and I often visit the clearance area to restock or get new colors. Everyone I gift them to also loves them. I enjoyed learning about the Weck jars. I’m considering trying them.

Thank you Grace! I’ll give those towels a look. I really love the weck jars too! I’m using a different style for my overnight oats just to see what uses I like the best!

I have never seen the weck jars, they are pretty! My step dad was the canner and I used upy last jelly he made...time to learn myself. I struggle finding decent towels too, my favorite is thick, soft and says coffee that I found at a thrift store. Wish I found more than one! Most are not absorbent at all and fall apart in the wash.

Hey Kym, Greets from Germany where Weck Jars are the most used Jars for Canning. The Rubber gaskets can be used 5 to ten times, as Long they fits perfectly on the Glas lid. Are they larger or drop out, then toss them. Birgit. You can also use them for pressure canning cause the Glas is thicker than ball, Kerr or Bernardin.

Goodmorning Kym! I’ve never seen a weck jar before but I’m very intrigued! I’d love to see a video later of you reusing the gaskets to see if they do seal just as well! What I love is that if you can reuse them time and time again that almost completely eliminates waste as apposed to using American jars or store bought cans! Which, when you think about all those factors the price of the jar is actually really cheap! Great video!!

Hi Kym, I haven't really seen those types of jars before, I could have missed them of course and they could be about but personally I'm more familiar with the le parfait and kilner type clip jars which are very common here rather than the ball type but not those types of clips on the Weck jars. Those clip jars can give your thumbs a nasty ping too!! I noticed it caught you too ouch!! I always reuse gaskets they last pretty well, I use them mainly with chutneys. I love homemade jams or should I say jelly we're going to get into the whole scone/biscuits, jelly/jam confusion again Kym 😂😂 Your canned goods in your pantry look gorgeous!!! a positive cabinet of jewels 🤩Hope the weather warms up soon for your girls 🥰 Love to you Frankie and those girls 💕🐱🐾 Xx

Weck is really like the LE parfait just a bit thicker glass. I have some of both (a few really). Yes those clips were the devil in my hands😂😂. Oh goodness I know the whole biscuit/scone thing is wholly confusing to me. I watch a British channel called Jolly where British guys try our American food and I’m getting quite the education! The girls send bawks and Frankie sends purrs across the big pond. And Frankie says he will try a biscuit😻

Hi Kym... This is the first time I've watched your channel..(great video) bc I've just purchased a 4 pack of 1/4 ltr weck jars in the op-shop ( new ones) for an unbelievable price of $4. AUD... Everything was in there.. I've been canning for a few years ( not lately tho so I've got to relearn everything lol) for my dish towels for placing the hot jars on the bench I use the drying mat for dishes ( it's a waffle coated mat with a sponge in between) they're brilliant and washable. Keep up the great work on your videos... Cheers from Australia.

Hi, well I just subscribed to your Channel. I am new to Weck jars. I received mine today from Weck. I bought a case of six 1 Leiter jars. these are pretty close to 1 quart. I had to buy a wider jar Transfer and a funnel. lol mine were too small. anyway,😊 happy canning, and I hope I don't have any failures. LOL... Loved your video and you did a great job.

As long as the Tab of the gasket shows down the jar is sealed. And... You can stack the Jars over three rows? Over each other without fail above years. You can although stack them over each other without a second Rack. And... Weck recommends to can them one Inch underneath the rim, not above. But these are the canning Rules here in Germany or Europe. For the US.... your kitchen, your Rules. I have to reach out how the prices are if I purchase the Jars for me here and would ship them to you in the US. For me here 6 Jars would cost me 6 european Euro. It seems to be expensive but they will to be used for hundreds of years . I am still using Jars my grandma used.... She was born 1903. The Clips you can use over and over and over and......again. You don't have to replace them until you cracked them, after , Hmmm... 10 Years? To replace the gasket, for me, cost me 27 european Cent for 10 gaskets.

Wow thanks so much for the great information! I am also glad to know headspace. I wish I could buy them at your pricing-the euro right now is $1.07 US so I can buy one jar here for the price of 6 there!!
