This is literally the easiest weight loss journey I've ever done. Im only 2 weeks in, but i feel so good. It seems like im just not obsessed with my "diet" like i usually am. I can just follow the time rules and forget it. Thanks for sharing this Sandy uou look great!

If you want a more disciplined approach to intermittent fasting when you do eat in your window do not have any type of sugars, artificial, natural or otherwise. If you like vegetables or fruits with your protein then choose thise lowest in carbs and always have healthy animal fats. I’m time you may want to eliminate those low carb veges & fruits and continue with animal proteins and fats. Why? Because you will not only burn more fat but you will also decrease inflammation. Yes, fruits and veges are inflammatory.

@@rhondaseitz2634 correct. You can always reintroduce fruits and veges at a later time. I’d recommend keeping track of what you’re bringing back into your first and how it makes you feel.

Today is my fourth day on I.F. The WORST part is getting up between 5-5:45 am and not being able to put half and half in my coffee. I always looked forward to coffee in the morning while having my devotions. I am getting used to drinking it black but really miss my creamer. I see a difference in my face already ....not as puffy. Thanks for your videos! You have really encouraged me!❤

I started three days ago. I am following the 16/8. I am obese and lost 4.6 pounds to date. I find drinking 1/2 my weight in water is a good flush for my system. Thank you, Sandy, for your videos on this topic.

Watch your electrolytes. Losing weight and drinking tons of plain water will flush out a lot of electrolytes which is dangerous. Had a co workers do IF who was also obese and she started getting dizzy. Luckily her doc told her to start drinking electrolytes drinks/waters.
@sandysteinbrook
@sandysteinbrook Жыл бұрын
Yes, to what Jayla said below. You can also use minalayan or sea salt in your water. I did a video on what to have during the fasting period and talked about how I add good salt in my water in the mornings. I was getting headaches while my body adjusted. I continue to do it because it helps hold hydration in our body and is full of 84 minerals that are essential to the body! Just make sure that you don't use table salt.

I just started this and I lost 5 pounds. Honestly, I thought it would kill me to drink just green tea or black coffee because I like cream in my coffee. I did get headache first day but I used pink sea salt and within an hour it was gone. I feel really good but I look forward to noon and eating. I feel full after eating and because I teach yoga in evening , I really quit eating at 6pm. I love that there is no expensive prepackaged foods, meetings, or strict diet plan. I eat what I want but it always includes a large green salad and some protein. Apple and peanut butter or nuts for snacks. I drink lots of water too. I think my sleep has improved so much. Thanks so much Sandy for this channel and your information. I know this is the right path for me.

I've lost 85 pounds doing mostly omad since February 2022. I hit plateaus, but kept going and after almost 2 months finally started losing steady again. I look like I've lost more than I did due to walking at least 6 or 7 days a week for 30 or 35 min. It really works.

Oh, I love hearing this! I was getting headaches in the beginning. I started putting Himalayan salt in a glass of water int he morning and it took it away. I still put Himalayan pink salt ofr sea salt in my water most mornings because of all the essential minerals it has in it for our body. Try that. 1/2-1tsp. Just make sure you do not use iodized table salt. That stuff is just bleached salt that has no health benefits

Gin Stephens is great! Read her books and listen to any KZfaq videos that she is interviewed in. Thomas Dealer talks a lot about the importance of a clean fast too. This is what I think... there are experts who teach doing a clean fast and others who teach that some creamer or sweeteners are ok. I think it's just figuring out what is best for you. Once I stopped the dirty fast and changed to a clean fast, it worked for me. It changed how I felt and things started happening in my body at that time. Dr. Mindy has a lot of good Intermitten fasting videos too. The very first video I listened to helped me a ton. I will post it below. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/d5x0ntdo39-tnZ8.html

Thank you for watching my channel! So, I can’t answer that for sure. It depends on if there are any additives in the ground coffee. Usually a taste profile on your tongue makes a response in our body because it thinks we are getting food, but I am not sure about hazelnut coffee. I think you’re going to have to just try it. Drink it, and 20 ish minutes later if you start feeling hungry or shaky, you’ve had an insulin response. If not, I think you’ll be fine to drink it!

What really works for me is an early dinner. I am done eating by 5pm and do not eat again until 9am the next day. I do eat all 3 meals in my window as I love breakfast. This is so flexible that if you eat late one evening, don't worry about it. Enjoy that day and the next day just go back to your regular schedule. You don't have to try to count 16 hours later. As far as breakfast, every once in a while it is fine to have something like that, just be aware that breaking a fast with processed carbs, you will have a huge insulin response. Trying to lose weight is like pushing a boulder uphill. I fast for 16 or more hours, I eat light, and still, nothing.. Over the course of two-three months, I've lost 3 pounds. I feel so defeated. Yes, I have insulin resistance, but my blood sugar is around 106 with medication, and my A1c is spot on. My thyroid has been tested and is fine. Ever since menopause happened, I gained weight, and my bust got HUGE (I HATE that). I never had a large bust and I was very happy with that. Not being able to wear clothes that look good, is very depressing. I'm often hungry but I rarely give in and I keep thinking, something is going to give because my caloric intake is low and I am not eating junk. I understand that all calories are not created equal. I grew up thin, my family is thin, no obesity in my family. I am not trying to win a bikini contest, I just want my weight to be normal. It doesn't happen immediately...but it will work. I almost always work out in a fasted state because I like to workout in the mornings and usually don't break my fast until 11am.

How soon do you see the weight loss ? I have done this for almost two weeks but haven’t lost any weight yet . I want to be consistent. And see the weight loss. I am feeling good though .

Don't quit. 'It was slooooow for me. the scale did not morve the first two week. By 4 weeks I had only lost a few pounds but...my clothes were fitting better. so even though the scale didn't change, I knew I was changing. If I had quit too early, I would have missed out on all the benefits!

One thing I noticed is after I started IF, a pain I had in my calf due to a dilated vein went away! I never would have thought IF could help with varicose veins! But if you think about it, it must be a form of inflammation…

Well, you just gave yet again another benefit from IF I haven't hear. What a testimony to the power of the body to heal itself.

Good video. I don’t think you would be breaking your fast brushing your teeth because you’re not eating or swallowing anything. Ps. Edited to add I’m basing that on Dr. Jason Fung’s book called “The complete Guide to Fasting.” He doesn’t mention anything about teeth brushing causing an insulin response.

I agree. I know I don't break my fast when brushing my teeth. I don't think that most people do, unless they are using bubble gum flavor or something super sweet.

How did you come off thyroid medication? Please tell me. I want to do intermittent fasting and I have hypothyroidism for over 25 years and on Levolthyroxine.

Go ahead and start with the intermittent fasting. When our body isn't digesting, it is repairing and healing itself. So start with that and I am going to make a videos of what I personally have done to keep myself off thyroid medicine for years.

Can you use stevia to sweeten your coffee and tea while fasting?

I personally stick with a clean fast. When I switched from doing a dirty fast with sweetners in my hot tea, that is when I noticed a huge difference. This video may help. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hqyGiqWa0dPTg3k.html

I can hear your frustration. Have you done IF for a long time? From what I have read our bodies become used to it and needs changed up to get metabolism going again. Also, muscle weighs more than fat so if your weight training…do your clothes fit better regardless of what the scale says?

@@sandysteinbrook it’s strange sometimes my clothes fit the same and then sometimes they fit tighter. I’m just not sure what I need change.

Maybe someone can answer this - I am never drink coffee. I am not a big tea drinker either, but I do like jade citrus mint green tea as well as peach tranquility herbal tea. I can not find anything anywhere to see if these teas are ok to drink while fasting? I saw in her video that she had "the vert tea" on the counter, but I don't think she ever talked about it. Is the rule only black tea or green tea? How can I research the other teas including the vert?
@sandysteinbrook
@sandysteinbrook Жыл бұрын
For me personally, I do a clean fast with no flavors. Flavors can cause an insulin response, so I do a clean fast. I’m not sure what “vert tea” means. I drink green tea during my fast, and then I drink herbal teas during my eating window.

When fasting are you able to drink water to help curb the hunger???? A coffee in the am?
@sandysteinbrook
@sandysteinbrook Жыл бұрын
Oh yes! You want to drink plenty of water so you don’t get dehydrated. During your fasting period you can have plain water (no flavoring), black coffee, green or black tea. Then during your eating window you can have other drinks or creamer in your coffee.
