It was a very exciting time for us. Getting my sister into her own drift car was a major win.

I have my 04 G35 coupe with a welded VLSD , it was a pretty easy job and has been hanging 20k miles in . Definitely showed improvement towards drifting but is pretty sketchy for rainy days since it’s my daily .
@bryanmurphy263 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's not great for daily driving. The front is always fighting the rear for grip, forcing you to choose between understeer and oversteer. I might be grabbing another stock vlsd to run in my car in between drift events, and for grip racing.

You’re in CT? How much would you charge to do this on my r32? Same Diff
@bryanmurphy265 жыл бұрын
It's a tricky job. I'd have to charge you a Turkey grinder and a 2 liter bottle of Coke.

Does the diff clunk now? I got my vlsd welded and installed solid bushings now it clunks
@bryanmurphy265 жыл бұрын
It's a little clunky. Pretty normal to get some clunking. As the wheels try to try to spin at different speeds, they continually built tension on the axles, and then release it, as the tire slips in rapid succession. My sister said it doesn't bother her.
@datboi81405 жыл бұрын
Bryan Miata what's weird is it only clunks with the wheels on. When it's on jackstands and I let off the clutch without wheels, it's silent. With the wheels on it clunks
@bryanmurphy265 жыл бұрын
Oh, so it clunks in a straight line then. That's not normal. Maybe some weld spatter got on the ring gear, or one of the spider gears broke loose from the weld. Ours only clunks going around tight corners. If its clunking in a straight line, something is up.

@@bryanmurphy26 I didn't clean it as nicely as yall did or take any precautions. Just opened up the case and welded the holes. Locked it up but howled like a mf. I might try on another diff and see how it goes. Ill try replicate.
@bryanmurphy263 жыл бұрын
Once a gear set is broken in, the gears can howl if the backlash, preload, or pinion depth is altered. The gears break into each other in their original position. The Z's diff makes it pretty easy to put it back exactly as it was though.

She’s gotta chill with the tight corners, she will out excess stress on it all.

We're gonna work on getting her to commit to going wider and faster at the next one. We'll be at it again this weekend for Drift Kitchen (all ladies drift clinic). We gave her some more angle too.

I can’t get the longer diff stub to go back in no matter what I do u barely tapped it and it went In I been trying for hours any tips ?
@bryanmurphy264 жыл бұрын
You might want to shine a light in there to make sure there's no weld on the splines.
