in this video we weld up the cracks from when we straighten out the rear frame. I will keep my eye on it over time but for now I think we got it decent enough. if it cracks again I will replace the piece or reinforce it.

Boy the underside of our vehicles really take a brutal beating in the winter. Between the road salt and the brine solution that is used on our roads here in Iowa... Oh Boy! Hard on frames. Hard on working. Hard on everything

yeah those chemicals are really hard on metal. we dont get a ton of snow here. ice is what gets us more than anything. the put down pretreatment on our roads and that stuff is hard on vehicles for sure. I normally just stay home in bad weather.

Awesome job! I love 6010 normally what I use if repairing expanded metal broken loose and 13. Funny timing on your video I bought a new 12k equipment trailer today replacing an old one, Some custom ramps. Going to weld in a wench plate next year. Hope all is well always enjoy seeing a new video..

its weird that the big box stores never carry 6010 rods around here. I like the 6010 far better than the 13. I cant do as well with the 13 for some reason. I had to replace my ramps last year on my 10k equipment trailer. I made them longer so the backhoe don't drag the street when I load it. this dump trailer is a 12k but only 7x10 foot. never going to fit my tractor in this thing. wish I had a winch on my equipment trailer. maybe one day. thanks for stopping by Jeff. always good to hear from you.

Hello Dave, burnt Hundreds of pounds of 6010 welding Process piping in the factory and power plants, lowest flux of all the stick rods, I believe I would tie the two heavy angle at the rear with another angle, Take Care and Stay Safe, PS we just moved my 93 yr old mom in🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸

93! AMAZING! you are truly blessed! I miss my mom so much things are not the same for me at all. yes very little flux which is great. I like the 6010 way better than the 13. I don't have much luck with the 13. thank you all for stopping by.

its definitely worth learning. most guys go mig welder but I just never had much faith in mig. I learned on an old stick machine, so I know how that holds. I been looking for a bigger mig welder the one I have is very small. would love to get a Miller 210 one of the old ones. those things are a beast from what I hear.

I like 6010 for bridging gaps because it cools the puddle so quickly. I like to then cover it with 7018. I think you're right...the rod is as good as the persons welding ability. Good way to put it. I don't weld everyday either...and I don't want to..LOL I think ya done good Dave.
@daveknowshow

thanks brother means a lot coming from you. yes those 6010 rod keyhole most of the time but being fast freezing helps. just have to keep moving. I used to use a 7018 top pass but since I dont have an oven to keep them dry and moisture seems to affect them so much I use a 7014 as a cap. low penetration rod but does make a pretty bead for a cap. on this I planned to grind it smooth, so I just went 6010 in multiple passes. I ran it real hot so she sure burnt in there good. I'll keep my eye out for this area to fail just in case. I'd rather catch it before it gets bad.

@@daveknowshow I sneak a 7014 in on occasion too. Those are real good on an AC only machine. Not so much with a 7018 though. A good hot box is an old hotel room style refrigerator. Put a 40 watt bulb and cut the wiring to the socket and hook the cord right to it. It'll keep the rods dry and pretty darn warm in there. If you wanna get fancy hook up an old line voltage thermostat off a throw-away baseboard heater and set the sensing bulb inside the box. The bulb will last a lot longer doing that too. I do that with welding rods and also left over paint to keep it good for the next project. Actually I have two full size reefers set up like that and one is a side by side. I cut 4'' holes in the interior wall to heat both sides with one 40 watt bulb.
