The likes of players like Keane is dead, carrick did a great job of replacing him

Carrick more or less walk so that players like Declan rice can run,the man in the English game was way ahead of his time in terms of his style of play. During United’s title winning runs in the late 2000s,Carrick’s simplistic approach more or less laid the foundations so that much skilled players like Rooney,Ronaldo,Tevez,Berbatov and Nani can thrive. Not many say this but I will say Carrick more or less made Scholes to reinvent his game in his early 30s.

Theres a reason he was a one of the highest transfers at the time and played so many games for a top 5 club in the world. His skills where sublime.

Carrick was good alright, I'd rate him at Xabi level, Scholes was at beast level though, am sure the 2 UCL's would have turned out different if he was started.

Gerard’s become a myth these days. He couldn’t dictate a game at all. This is why he failed when he tried to do it when he got older. The best midfielders like scholes, xavi, pirlo etc. obviously zidane and iniesta stand out above all because they could dictate and go past people like they didn’t exist.

@@FootkerSnookball sorry but chelsea flat out deserved the PL in 2010...they were scoring for fun...utd although still great struggled a bit to change the style after the departures of ronaldo and tevez n the summer 2009.... youre imaginining things too much inter 2010 was a totally different beast from the one the year before....they had brought in milito and etoo-2 clinical stiekers instead of the flop zlatan...they had lucio and motta and sneiijer also come in.....and utd werent as good as 09 due to departures of ronaldo and tevez...inter would have won the final in 2010, as mourinho hd a great finals record, and a great record over fergie in general.... in fcat utrd were kinda lukcy they won the PL in 09, as h2h liverpool was better

@TheLusianPopa Scoring for fun there was only 3GD separating ManUtd & Chelsea with 3 games left and ManUtd won their last 3 and added a further 7GD so how without corruption have Chelsea gained 10GD on ManUtd in the last 3 games, they got given 2 emphatic wins in the last 3 games with several controversial goals to add to the seasons list just to disguise them as worthy winners with fake GD because they corruptly climbed above ManUtd in points and that was the only way to make it look like they were worthy in some way but they weren't the best team. Why did Chelsea (despite needing to get 2 dodgy wins vs ManUtd) have no more wins than ManUtd then? (27 each). Overrated because of English bias? Even to this day this duo hardly get a mention amongst the best United or even the Premier League midfield combos let alone Europe. Scholes get the majority of the plaudits whereas Carrick at his prime rarely gets one. Sure at the time in this league, individually the combos of Essien/Lampard/Ballack along with Maschernao,Gerrard and Alonso were better as individuals but overrated while they won the league 3 times in a row.

That is why Guardiola wanted Scholes in prime Barca, a spanish team?

Great foreign midfielders at the time - Vierra, Xabi, Makelele, John Obi Mikel, Essien, Yaya Toure (later on). Ok, looking at these, I cant see any better than Scholes.
