Daphne (Amanda Bynes) shares a few words with Clarissa (Christina Cole) after being told to leave.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Loosely based on the 1958 comedy The Reluctant Debutante starring Sandra Dee, the family-friendly comedy What a Girl Wants features popular Nickelodeon teen star Amanda Bynes in her first feature-starring performance after her debut in Big Fat Liar. She plays teenager Daphne Reynolds, who lives in New York City with her musician mother, Libby (Kelly Preston). After she turns 17, Daphne is undecided about her future, so she takes off by herself to London in search of her father. She immediately meets cute musician Ian (Oliver James) before sneaking in to her father's estate to surprise him. He turns out to be Lord Henry Dashwood (Colin Firth), a fabulously wealthy aristocrat who doesn't even know that she exists. He had met her mother in Morocco and the two were married in a tribal ceremony. Upon their return to England, she left him and went back to the U.S. without ever revealing that she was pregnant. The uptight Henry is already flustered by his campaign for election, advised by doting aide Alistair Payne (Jonathan Pryce). His no-nonsense fianc

Ian was just hurt & disappointed that Daphne changed so much only to fit in with the rest of the family. she lost her sense of direction and Ian didn't understand why she suddenly acted so stiff & not like herself. i wouldn't want to date someone who changes like that too. he didn't force her, she came to the conclusion on her own.

@@zuzannabrzeszczak1578 Couldn’t have said it better myself. He fell for the real Daphne, the carefree Daphne. Not the Daphne that changed over night trying to fit in. Honestly the best thing I guy can do in this situation is take a step back to help her see that this is not her. Don’t try to support her changing who she really is because that is not her. And you’re not doing her any favors supporting her forcing herself to fit in.

I remember this part well. I loved even when Amanda stood up to her mean step sister. I just found where Amamda fell by mistake with trying to use the gun. That was my 1st fave part in this movie, especially.

I love that she told Clarissa that she’s not going anywhere. This film is so similar to my own experience, except I was from England coming in to the American family. (And no rich father 😅). The women were quite similar. I wish I had the guts at that age (I was 19) to speak up. Unfortunately I am an introvert so these thing are a bit more difficult for me. Think that’s why I love this movie..I really get it!

Honestly THIS to me was Amanda Bynes BEST movie.~ Well you know before she.....lost herself.....cause it was her awkward self that made me love her. But also how she knew when to stand up for herself in this movie.~ I.....wish fame or whatever made her lose herself.....wish she saw how I saw her. I know it sounds.....stupid....or silly....but to ME she was that awkward, funny, yet caring girl.
