So I worked at an ups store that took Amazon returns. I can guarantee you we did not give a single flying fck about whether you’re returning the actual item or not. Amazon never even told us to check inside. If we did, we wouldn’t have time for anything else. God I’m so glad I don’t have to do returns for Amazombies anymore

Amazon has return departments that sort and inspect the items after they’ve been sent in. If there is a pattern of the wrong item coming from particular customers they start fraud investigations. Amazon has never expected anyone other than Amazon employees to inspect returns.

Yeah, Amazon most definitely does not check inside packages which is how I received a “Used - Like New” shredder that was, in fact, a trash can.

We accept Amazon returns at Kohl’s and I’ll hand customers the receipt and they’ll be like “Y-you don’t wanna check inside to make sure it’s the right item????” And I’m like “Nah i trust you” it’s not so much that I ‘trust you’, it’s that I don’t really care what’s in the mf box. All we’re expected to do here is take your return, hand you the receipt and go our separate ways. If you’re intentionally returning the wrong item, that’s on you, not me. i returned an item because I ordered a blender, it came with the attachments and all that, however the blender WAS THE ONLY PART MISSING. i literally returned the box without the blender cause they never sent it.

To anyone that does returns. I work at a place that does returns I train my coworkers to not give a shit what gets return, we don’t check we don’t have check we don’t get fired. Amazon doesn’t inspect the items they are all handed off to a different bulk seller who auctions it off or sends them to a rummage style place where people go to buy stuff for huge discounts. Your refund depends on if they scanned your return code, and usually shows up in an hour to a day worth of time. This does not apply to returning stuff to an Amazon locker

I worked in Amazon returns in 2019 pre-Covid, and we had a fermented cat and some ppl returned Roombas with animal feces. Used adult toys. Clothes that had been worn, soiled, ripped, you name it we saw it in the return department.

worked at an ecommerce store. Amazon doesn't give care. they just mark all returns as damaged and throw it a giant box and return it to the seller. Making the seller eat the cost. Plus they charge $1 to the seller for every return box they make. Amazon now sometimes charges customers for returns. they literally taking money from everyone but not caring about the seller or consumer.

Problem is I have gotten stuff from Amazon that wasn’t the correct item and in the box. So this lady checking the box still has to give me my refund. I even once received an empty box.

I used to work at Amazon back when I lived in Lexington, KY. That specific location handles majority of all returns because they're in the middle of the country. This was actually part of the protocol when handling returns. The customer would describe the issue and if I opened the package and the item in question wasn't there I'd report it and I assume someone else would deal with it lol.

A reason why you want to have them check the box at the store and confirm the actual item: the content can change after you handed it in... always take a few photos of the inside and closed box. Can help to prove the box was tampered with after handing it in. Store employee should do the same and attach the photo to your receipt.

I did Walmart returns on car care products years ago. We got leaky bottles of different car care products and some customer returns. I can’t tell you how many bottles of “antifreeze” we’d get back as a customer return that were water. Antifreeze isn’t that expensive but people would fill their car and return the water and not have to pay a thing.

Half the time I've needed to return something... I just got the credit and told to keep, donate, throw the item at my discretion 😅

I had an awkward experience kind of about this where I had ordered books to learn Japanese, was told my order arrived with the books, opened the box and it was a phone case and screen protectors....I checked my account, Def didn't order those things and the box picture was the one I just opened...when I returned them to Kohls with no box, they were throwing some shade so I showed them the whole traceability and my order history that I didn't order those things and I really wanted my Japanese books...took FOREVER to get my return money to reorder...

I returned a mop and bucket set because it wasn’t working properly. Got the money right after I dropped it off at the post office. A week later, the same mop was delivered back to my house😂

I work at a UPS Store. I don’t care what you’re returning. Just give me the darn code and the item and get out of my line. I still try to help customers that are confused or don’t really know what item goes with what, but it’s not my job to do that. I don’t care if you get your refund or if the item ever gets back to the returns hub. I especially hate when customers call into my store and say they never received their refund, as if that’s something we can control. I’ve grown to really hate my job because of the Amazon returns and insolent customers. If you want to make both of our lives easier, read the instructions CAREFULLY and do it right the first time. You’ll be in and out in no time and there will be no stress, trust me

well all you have to do at that point is *not* refund them since they didn’t give you the correct product to get refunded. i don’t see the issue. they tried to pull a fast one, got out quickly, but still don’t get the refund since now you know it’s not the correct product..?

Whenever I worked at Macys someone returned a Chanel cream to my counter…. We were really busy and I should’ve just sent him to Chanel but he was waiting in the long line and I felt bad.
