I had that happen just once. Thankfully, I knew about how that nerve can be pinched and will return once the pressure is removed for long enough so I was able to push down the panic until I could start to move my arm again. If I hadn't known what the fuck was happening, though, I would have been a total wreck.

I know the corpse isn't feeling a thing, but this just gives me the willies when he starts pulling on the muscles & nerves, I'm not a dead body kinda guy. I couldn't watch the whole thing, but stayed long enough to learn about the sciatic nerve being compressed. Makes sense. I've had sciatica, and it's no picnic either.
@ramenboy_yt
@ramenboy_yt 2 жыл бұрын
so-since the signals that our brains interpret as pain when the sciatic nerve “turns back on” are the signals that are catching up after being shut off, would it be accurate to say that the pins and needles lasts (approximately) as long as the leg was in that position ? this is really fascinating stuff, by the way !

I have this everyday when I sit down, in my feet and toes. I had a herniated disc L4, L5 10 years ago. It’s never ended, I’ve just dealt with it and it doesn’t go away. I got tested for Lyme Disease and other stuff and tested negative. It’s probably due to standing all day for 20 plus years at the shop and various sports injuries. Anyway, I believe it’s just peripheral neuropathy due to age and back issues. Laying down with feet elevated helps alleviate some of it, but mostly I just cope with it and adjust.

@Rain_dear 2 жыл бұрын
I can relate! I had a bulging disc on my L5 and the pain was so bad I wanted to die because it totally ruined my quality of life. If I got 4 hours of sleep a night that was a blessing, and my left leg would completely give out at any given moment. I decided to get surgery and the pain was immediately gone after, thankfully!

"Static" is absolutely perfect, it's what I've kinda visualised it as being all my life. When I was very small I thought it was some variety of energy surging around my arm (I often got pins and needles on my arms when I was sat in weird ways which put some pressure on my elbow). It was quite cool until I moved my arm and then it got hurtier until it went away.

I personally mostly refer to "pins and needles" not as the leg/arm being asleep, but rather _waking up,_ and you saying it's basically rebooting kind of affirms that for me. I refer to it as "waking up" because there are times where it just goes entirely numb, and the way I experience it, that is it being "asleep." To me, the pins and needles are more the state _between being awake and asleep,_ so either dozing or waking up. I don't wanna call it "falling asleep" personally, as it sometimes just goes numb pretty immediately, and I experience it more when it's "waking up."

My two observations i've known about it is when I donated blood, there was a sort of "inverted" pins and needles feeling. That one in particular triggered an adrenaline response. Apparently bloodflow can contribute to that feeling. Effectively you can feel your own blood. The other one was i had sat on my leg for so long my foot when total numb (no response, unable to move muscles, felt like a peg with floppy foot)

Several years ago I shared a tiny single bed with my girlfriend, now wife; I ended up lying with my arm on the edge of the bed frame. I woke up when I turned in my sleep when I was hit in the face with something warm and limp, that turned out to be my left arm that had gotten completely paralyzed. Could not move it at all for about half an hour, and when it came back online it was really numb and tingly. Was so weak I could barely use it the whole day, and it wasn't back to normal until more than a week. The weirdest thing was my brain didn't even think it was par of my body for hours, felt like a heavy and disgustingly warm meat sausage dangling from my shoulder. Even weirder when I got muscle control back (although weak) but no sensation, felt like I was remotely operating a thing rather than moving my arm. Kept crashing it into things and hitting myself cause I had no idea where it was without looking.

@@Benjamin-bj6xj Yes i know, it was just a joke ;) What Logan did was absolutely horrid, this is just informative. It was more a joke about how this guy has twice as many dead bodies in frame as Logan did.

I had never thought of describing the feeling as static, but that is actually the perfect word. I don't get any pain or burning thankfully, just lots of static depending on how long it takes me to notice (I can pretty involved in my books lol)

For people who live in climate zones who dip below 30 degrees... Speaking of pins and needles, how about coming indoors after spending some time out in the cold...has the warmer air inside warms you up... it seems as if your hands are either being "pricked" by needles, or being burned (note: some times this happens to toes as well). Is this are nerve issue, circulation issue, or body temperature issue (i.e. the actual flesh is responding harshly to the dramatic change in temperatures)?
