I read Atlas Shrugged first and I fell in love with it. The Fountainhead was still a great book but AS was So Big in scope and characters and themes that I can see why people recommend people start with The Fountainhead. I also had the pleasure of reading Atlas Shrugged without knowing anything about her philosophy.

I think Anthem is the best place to start. Fantastic book and a really quick read.

Anyone have any thoughts on “Anthem”? And where to place it on this ordering?

Anthem was her first, and her worst. It was actually the last I read, and didn't even finish it. Anthem was miserably boring as hell, and is literally a whole-sale rip-off - whether intentionally or not - of Yevgeny Zemyatin's We - which I also dnf because it too is so damn boring.

*I've read both novels multiple times over the decades. That said, my favorite is 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙁𝙊𝙐𝙉𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙃𝙀𝘼𝘿. Granted, 𝘼𝙏𝙇𝘼𝙎 𝙎𝙃𝙍𝙐𝙂𝙂𝙀𝘿 is the more philosophically expansive of the two, but 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙁𝙊𝙐𝙉𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙃𝙀𝘼𝘿 is the more artistically appealing. Also, and quite importantly, 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙁𝙊𝙐𝙉𝙏𝘼𝙄𝙉𝙃𝙀𝘼𝘿 features one of the best villains ever -- Ellsworth Toohey.*

I read Atlas Shrugged and enjoyed it, but could not read The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; only got as far as page 13 - I just didn't care about anything in the book. (Like force feeding Bad medicine) 🥩 I much prefer anything by George Orwell.

@@Mrbfgray Yes, I have read her complete works. My love for Ayn Rand (and The Little Red Hen) was earned; not from indoctrination. - Things your parasitic commie heart will never know; love and earning.

@politicallyrelaxed3783 yeah, that last part is unfortunate. Anthem was terrible, so boring (and a rip-off of We. DNF). Still love me some Atlas Shrugged, though rereading it now I have more of a mixed take on it.
